Barb is a life saver and hard working woman that will live in your pets. We use her often for our Great Dane and Old English Sheep dogs.

I would caution anyone NOT to board their cats at the PetSmart PetsHotel on Richmond Highway in…read moreAlexandria. The information on their website is patently false; they don't do any of the things that they claim they do. We had such a horrible experience and feel a tremendous amount of guilt for trusting that they would take care of our cat. After a short stay, our healthy 1-year old cat was returned to us lethargic and clearly traumatized, with serious episodes of vomiting and diarrhea that ended up in a $2,500 vet hospital stay. A quick business trip turned into an ungodly expense. We were promised an update during his stay as well as a "Pawgresss Report" when we picked him up, but received neither, likely because he wasn't adjusting well and it was easier for them to keep that from us. They didn't even do a basic medical check when we dropped him off, which again was supposed to happen according to their website. I reached out to the hotel manager, Arden, once he was admitted to the vet hospital two days after his stay, and described our experience. She "seemed" very sympathetic and assured me that an incident report would be filed and that someone would get back to me ASAP. Well, here it is 4 days later and I still haven't heard from anyone; I would have thought that they would want, at the very least, an update on his diagnosis/condition to prevent an outbreak at their facility. Nope. Clearly, what they say and what they actually do are at odds. Don't be like me and get caught up in the flowery language used on their website to describe their facility and services; it's all disingenuous, if not patently false. I fear our poor cat will never get over the trauma of his visit at the PetsHotel on Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Virginia

They let us know that based on the dog's profile, they recommended that we do a meet and greet with any family dogs we already have at home. So we get ready, load up our pup, and go to the center. When we walked in, we felt like the vibes were pretty off immediately. The front desk staff seemed to be pretty unfriendly, barely addressed us, and barely made eye contact with us. But we moved on and I tried giving them some grace... We then told them which dog we were interested in meeting and they let us go back to the kennel for a first glance. We came back out and when we asked for a meet and greet, the one worker seemed super hesitant in even allowing that. Lots of "ummm, yea, I guess you can" vibes. My mother-in-law waited in the lobby with our pup and they led my husband and I to their yard for a visit which went well and I asked if I could switch out with my mother-in-law and were told that it'd be best not to have the dog meet too many people in one instance since it has a "stranger danger" personality. What if the people after us wanted to meet him, would they have turned them down because it was "too many people"??? We then asked to have our pup meet since our meeting went well and were met with more hesitation. We let the staff know that we also have kids at home and they recommended that we come back with them so the adoptable pup could meet everyone at once instead of letting our dog meet in that moment.... we thought that was odd since we were already there and prepared. My husband was already over it and left and I went back in to ask if the dog we were interested in could be adopted that day or before we were able to come back. They let us know that they couldn't guarentee he'd still be there. Never once did they really walk us through the process or even offered that we could essentially put the dog on "hold" until I kept asking more questions. They finally directly us to a QR code that went to an interest form. I filled out the whole thing and then they were like, "oh, BTW, its a nonrefundable $50 fee/donation to put an animal hold on". So... fine.... because we really wanted to make sure he was still there when we came back. Fast forward to the next day, we bring our kids and our dog back in. They then tell us they they're going to have our dog meet their dog 1st and if that goes well, we can introduced the kids. What the actual crap since we already had our dog in the day before! So the meet and greet with the pups didn't go the best which isn't anyone's fault. We understand and recognize that is out of everyone's control and don't fault the staff for that interaction. One of the other workers who wasn't there the first day tried helping and made some suggestions to have us adopt and older dog but at that point we were ready to go. We were so frustrated with the entire process. They wasted our time, weren't upfront about the fee/donation, and the staff either didn't understand the process themselves OR they really didn't want it to actually work out with us from the moment we walked in there. We've adopted from Wolftrap Animal Rescue twice and had wonderful interactions. We also visited the Lorton Animal Shelter and everyone there was really kind and friendly so I'd recommend others going through one of those other agencies instead. We just hope our nonrefundable $50 donation goes to good use...

The woman did not even say an intersection was satisfactory. I was resigned to drive back to pin down the address with the rescued dog but recalled a restaurant I was heading to and used that address as it was near the rescue spot. The rules of the League is obnoxious. I always recall several years ago when they failed to rescue a cat on their property because they would not put up a cat trap at night due to regulations although the cat was seen in daylight. A cat trap is effective at night time. Changes are needed for the rescue and adoption friendly processes at government animal shelters like the The Arlington Welfare League.

However she didn't need it and was able to roam with the other dogs at the spa. Special shout out to Vee (Vi?)! She was super attentive and took the time to understand our preferences and make sure we were on the same page about the style we wanted. When we got home, our dog was her usual playful self (at other places, she'd come home stressed and subdued). It's clear they treated her with patience and care. The results were exactly what we hoped for! We've made this our regular salon.

After the terrible groom my partner was told to come back for a they would fix it for free. She scheduled the appointment pointing out that she wanted the complimentary service (see photo) and when I picked her up they told me it was roughly $125. I told them I had a free service and they saw that in the system but that's not what they did. I overheard the lady behind the counter whisper that we were willing to pay the difference even though it is their fault . At that point I was unwilling to pay but my partner was at work and had already paid the entire amount online so that I did not have to have any issues. They reached out to the owner and we were assured that she would reach out to us and fix it. My partner reached out to Jodi (the owner) and she did not respond. This was in February and it is now May. I waited to post this in hope that I wouldn't have to because they would make it right. I understand that the groomer needs to be paid because the work was completed but their mistake shouldn't have been my problem. Oh I forgot to mention how we came about the complimentary service. The original cut was HORRENDOUS (see photo) my partner wrote a review about it and they offered us a complimentary bath and tidy to take it down. She agreed and removed the review(shady). All I want is my partner's money back. This review did not need to be posted but I hate that fact that we were taken advantage of by this business.

Booked over a week and a half in advance with a specific groomer to avoid this exact issue, but was told the morning of my appointment that she was overbooked. This reflects poor organization and a lack of careful listening to customer instructions. I hope the business improves its scheduling practices and how it handles client requests moving forward.

His younger sister has been adjusting or we thought she was until yesterday. We stopped to take Maggie to be with our groomer, Alan. Maggie started crying and scream barking. Today, I called Melissa and asked if Maggie and I could pop in for a positive treat. We arrived. Maggie saw the special treat and we walked into the business with ease and a smile. Melissa greeted Maggie with a treat and kindness. Maggie trotted back to the car with success, pride, and happiness. Thank you, Melissa for your extra kindness yesterday to our scared girl. Thank you, today for allowing me to stop by to reinforce goodness.
