Who can say no to a cream puff?…read more I sure can't so I was excited to check out Ian Cakery, which I'd heard sold a superior version of the delectable treat. I decided to go with the vanilla cream puff, although the various other options sounded quite tasty too. But I'm glad I went with vanilla because it's phenomenal. I took one bite and knew I was eating something special. The cream filling is absolutely incredible and it's complemented by the perfectly-baked exterior. This is about as decadent a dessert as you can get and Ian Cakery has absolutely nailed it.

Just from the attitude of the staff and the way they don't even greet you when you come in, was enough to tell me that this is not where I should order my cake from. I got to try some of their desserts as well and found it too sweet for my liking anyway. I wouldn't come back here and I would also not recommend it to anyone. I spoke to a friend who said they had a similar experience here a while back so that was enough to confirm that it was not just me. There were lots of cakes on display and I did like some of the design though prices are quite high. If quality is there, I wouldn't mind ordering despite the high price but the quality wasn't there. This place is not it for me.

The design was amazing, they did exactly what I would have wanted if I had ordered it, down to the last detail. My wife had ordered cupcakes with the cake and they were also very nice, light with a sweet buttercream icing. Everyone at the party raved about how good the cake looked and tasted, several asking where the cake came from. I would not hesitate to recommend La Creme Cakes to anyone looking for a well made, delicious cake for any occasion!

I have not had many of these fried doughnuts before except for at scaddabush but they were more in a TimBit shape with chocolate sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with the way these were prepared, not what I was expecting them to taste like but they were nice and fluffy, not too sweet with the amount of powdered sugar sprinkled over them and the contrast of flavour with the custard and the cherries was very good! The only reason I'm giving it 4/5 is because for such a small spaced bakery there were WAY too many people inside, you could hardly move and instead of creating a line inside the store I would have expected them to keep it outside like many other bakeries are doing right now. The staff was very nice but I would have liked to been able to walk around the bakery more instead of just wanting to place my order and scram due to how uncomfortable I felt.

I'm not sure if you could choose what cupcakes came or if they had prepared boxes to choose from, but mine had 6 pairs of unique cupcakes (see picture for details). The cupcakes were not too sweet, which was nice as I sometimes feel I'm just eating sugar and nothing else (they were still sweet of course....just not SUPER sweet). The cream part seemed to be made of buttercream, and the dough part was also light. I liked the variety of options they had, and the cream part was designed very prettily with a flower motif. I haven't dealt with the customer service or looked at the costs, so I'm not sure how comparable it is to other places (my friends did all that...I just ate it :P) But if you like cupcakes, I would say to try it out.

Unfortunately I didn't get to fully enjoy it, as I was eating it outside in the heat and the chocolate and filling were melting rapidly. Even still, it was delicious. I definitely want to go back to try more flavours. The vanilla cupcake was good but not the best I've ever had. The cake was a little too dense for my liking but it wasn't horrible. I will come back to try the red velvet as that's the second flavour I usually try to judge a place on their cupcakes. Can't wait to come back! Wish they had later hours!
