    Double cortado and lolly cake
    John C.

A coffee oasis in soho. Rarely a fortnight goes past in which I don't end up in this Cafe. The barista is on a raised pulpit looking over the cafe as if to emphasize (and rightly so) the importance of the position. They seem to have 3 or four regular baristas on the weekend and each can make an excellent coffee. My choice is usually a double cortado which is a Spanish formulation, roughly equal proportions of espresso and milk and excellent for the mid afternoon. I've never been served a better one. They are busy so you might have to wait a few mins, but as all of us who appreciate good food/drink, it's worth it. Food and drink is ordered and paid for in Australasian style so head to the counter to order and pay up front. (cuts out a lot of the hassle in my opinion)

Sacred, oh Sacred! Praise be! Popped into Sacred while waiting on a friend. After negotiating the hectic hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus at rush hour, it was a welcome reprieve. A chilled out, blissful, oasis of calm. Now remember, for the wellbeing of all it is best I do not drink real coffee. So, I had a decaf americano with milk and their food looked so appetizing, I had a savory muffin of spinach and cream cheese. There's seating outside, inside and downstairs. So, despite the first impression of a pokey little coffeeshop it's actually quite roomy! Food and drinks are brought to you. So, I went and found myself a perch downstairs. Coffee and muffin arrived. Coffee was a really good decaf, not some lifeless, watery effort. The muffin was delish! Toasted, warm, fluffy and light - Yum! Add to that they were playing some nice, chilled out, soulful tunes. I'll definitely come here again.

OK, I'm biased being from down under and all but there is just something ineffably great about New Zealand cafes, and Sacred, just off hip Carnaby Street is no exception. I usually pop into Sacred for a quick coffee - great - or a light meal like a bagel or soup. The staff are lovely, the quality of the food great and the atmosphere so relaxed that everyone is almost horizontal. Being central London you've got to be careful though. I was sat outside with my brother one day putting the world to rights when the people at the next table had their bags stolen by a deceptively upstanding looking fellow. Other than that, top marks all round, a good alternative to nearby Flat White with considerably more seating, making Sacred the perfect place to while away a cold afternon.

Imagine wonderful old world charm remixed with a local coffee shop and Sacred is born. This rustic place for coffee, tea and light fare brings you back down to earth in an area surrounded by glamour and bright city lights. Each visit causes me to try something new as I am lured into probably the only coffee shop in town that serves espresso from a church pulpit. Amoung my favourite fare is the organic cakes and muesli with yoghurt... yum! My advice to you is sit back and relax! Enjoy a cup of tea grown on Sacred's plantation in Sri Lanka or fair-trade coffee.

This is such a quaint place to visit and have your coffee, because they make the best Espresso Coffee in London and you have to try it and I promise you won't regret it. In Sacred the Espresso machine stands on 19th century Welsh wooden pulpit which is just one of the few archaic religious motifs they have in this place. The owners who are from New Zealand where coffee-making seems to be a religion- apparently they take it very seriously over there. Sacred occupies two levels of a small ground floor room and has a dark attractive basement with plenty of seating and artworks for sale. The Coffee beans used to make the Coffees are all from Fairtrade and my Espresso was just perfect: lovely crema (foam) beautifully balanced;it needed no sugar. Tea drinkers are well catered for as well with greenfruit,Ayurvedic and classic Black teas as well. The food was good, there was a selection of sandwiches made with tasty fillings-the smoked Salmon with Mascarpone Cheese was excellent as was the tangy Lemon Tart with a crisp biscuit base. There were also generously portioned salads to choose from as well. Sacred is an ideal place for a quick snack or lunch, mind you it does get really busy. Be sure to visit the place at less busy times.

This is a cute place to take five and escape without having to go far. You can chill and people watch over some food and a drink. I think it fits in well to its surroundings near Carnaby Street. I stopped by in between job interviews to regroup and relax. Found myself drinking a very good coffee while some yummy mummies were having prosecco (and juice for kids) as they also serve alcoholic beverages. It was just after lunch hour and although they were still busy, staff were friendly and service quick.

Best coffee in soho. Top macchiato, top cortado, top mocha, top flat white.

Great vibe about the place, good cookies, good coffee; despite it taking 15mins to arrive. Sort the barista and its all gravy!
