    Carne Asada Quesadilla
    Brian S.

This place as the kids like to say is, "Fire!" Finally able to try it out and we were not disappointed. Some of the best Carne Asada I've had in all of Marin. The portions are massive too. Trust a big guy and try it out!

A super burrito w/so much meat!

This place is a hidden gem. Selfishly I want to keep it a secret for myself but I want them to succeed. The workers are so nice and accommodating to any style burrito you want. For example- they don't have a kids menu but they modified a regular burrito to my kids liking. Also- their burritos are HUGE! The price is right too. I hope more people support this business.

On our way back to San Francisco, we discovered a fantastic spot: Sabor De Mexico in Novato. It was our first visit, and definitely not our last. As soon as we entered, the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service stood out. We tried several of their popular dishes, and everything was truly delicious. The street tacos were especially memorable. I sampled both the carne asada and the lengua, with perfectly balanced flavors. The homemade tortillas made a significant difference. We also shared an order of quesadillas with carne asada, which was very flavorful. They offer both indoor and semi-outdoor seating, and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. We ordered at the counter, and the food was served to our table. The prices are reasonable considering the quality. It's clear they use fresh, quality ingredients in everything--from the salsa to the expertly cooked meats. If you're searching for a new place for authentic Mexican cuisine, Sabor De Mexico is definitely worth a visit.

    Super Burrito

I went in around 12:50 and the place was empty, should have been the first sign that I wasn't going to enjoy the experience. I sat on the back patio which had lots of flys and was a bit dirty. I got the super burrito and the super nacho's both with carne asada. The food was very under seasoned the asada seemed more like ground beef. The chips for the nachos were over fried and the cheese was that fake cheese. Sorry no way I'll be going back.

Came back for a second visit to this location - nice to see they've expanded into the adjoining space, business was brisk so I suppose they're doing well. I had the burrito - again, and was once again impressed not only with the freshness but with the size of the thing. I could easily have taken half home for another meal, however I wolfed it down greedily, it was really tasty. Service was fast and great, chips were warm, salsas were fresh, price was right, what more could you ask?

Overall a delicious experience! I've been meaning to kick the tires and was in the area so gave it a shot. This location was a couple different businesses over the past few years and was glad to see a new business come in. Upon entering the restaurant, it's got a counter style set up where you order and find a seat. It looks like they are still figuring things out as there is a beer and wine application notice in the door. There is plenty of seating available (probably too much) as there are seating area inside and a covered exterior spot. The menu is on a flatscreen which is typical these days. The monitor next to it was serving up early 90's pop and hip-hop music videos which was kinda funny. The food is very good and full of flavor. I ordered a super burrito and it could probably feed 2. The beans, meat, rice, and cheese all melded together for a delicious mix of flavors and textures. The salsa's were nice as well. There was a red (spicy) and green (medium) which is a good addition to a bite or two of burrito or chips. I hope this place does well and we'll see what the future holds.

    Caldo de Rez

The staff are wonderful. I am working my way through the menu. I have had the Caldo de Rez (beef soup) served with corn tortillas. Think of pot roast but in a soup form with out the gravy. YUM! I've taken home the super burritos as a treat for family. Everything here is a comfort food made to order with fresh ingredients. Lovely ambiance and art, a giant Vicente Fernańdez photo in the establishment.

Decided to try the super vegi burrito again before ruling out this place as a lunch option. I ordered the salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side, hoping this would take care of the issue of my burrito being cold. I was wrong! The burrito was mostly lettuce on the inside, so it's difficult to make it any warmer. It was also lacking in flavor. The chips and mild salsa were tasty. Given my choice of entree, this clearly isn't the place for me.

    Shrimp and veggie tacos
    Mark K.

The food was average. Nothing really stood out from any other Mexican restaurant in town. They have al pastor as a meat option which is not that common. I had it in a burrito. It was supposed to be a super burrito (regular burrito with guacamole and sour cream). It wasn't. My mother said that her enchiladas were okay. Nothing special. The stand out appears to have been the shrimp and veggie tacos. It deserves 4 stars. Everything else was 3 stars. The guacamole had more tomatoes than avocado. Not the way I like it. I think that this restaurant is very new. They have some things to work out. They overcharged us. They charged us twice for my mother's enchilada combo meal. They have a large space across the parking lot from Pini's hardware. This location can't seem to hold onto a restaurant. They had better try harder or they won't last either. They have covered outdoor dining. It was good to try this place but I probably won't be back.

What great news! After 25 years working at a taco shop in San Jose, Samuel finally opened his own taco shop in South Novato, next to the ACE Hardware store. The best taco shop in town. Excellent service and the best price. Honestly, the best tacos in the county. Very nice people and respectful

Super burrito was a good size!

While not every dish is a standout, we've had enough positive experiences here to keep coming back. Here's what we thought about our latest order: Som Tum - Very fresh and packed with flavor, but it was a bit too zesty for my personal taste. While it wasn't bad at all, it's probably not something I would order again. Kai Ka Prow - I decided to try something new, and the flavors definitely did not disappoint. The chicken was slightly dry, but the seasoning and overall flavor profile made up for it. A solid dish that I'd consider ordering again. Pad See Ew (Beef) - This is my go-to dish and it delivered as expected. Some pieces of beef were more tender than others, but the dish itself was full of flavor. The portion of meat was generous, making it a satisfying meal. Golden Crab Rangoon - One of our favorite appetizers. They're crispy without being overly oily or greasy, and the creamy filling is delicious. The best part is the cheese pull when you enjoy them fresh out of the fryer.

Crushed peanuts on the top did spill everywhere when we opened the container which was a little annoying. The Gang Karee Prawns entree was very watery and bland. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was an extremely small portion with half of the container being lettuce, then the entree was diced duck, onions, and lots of vinegar. I usually really enjoy this place and always recommend it, so this was disappointing. Oh they are now offering pho!

But whenever we are out in Marin, we usually just defeat to eating a Sol Food(If you know you know...). Recently we wanted to try something different. Ayawaska is about the experience. A very bold name but from the moment you walk in, to the moment you start eating your food you will quickly understand why they chose that name. All the workers are professional but also very friendly. Their cocktails are all delicious. Theres something about taking a sip and peering out the windows and seeing the view. For a minute it really feels like we are in another world. They really chose such a cool location for a restaurant. For food, I saw the Paella adjacent dish on the menu and I immediately knew what I was ordering. Arroz con Mariscos. We did order some Empanadas. I hate mushrooms but I had a bite of the Empanada Veggie. It's all mushrooms dude...alllll mushrooms...but it was good. My favorite was the Empanada de Lomo. But both Empanadas were delicious. They had a nice flaky crust but had really generous fillings. The flavors were so dang good. But with the Arroz con Mariscos I loved all the fixings it came with and how it was decorated. All kinds of onions and bell peppers everywhere. The rice itself wasn't overcooked or undercooked. And most of all there were giant shrimps along with calamari and clams. Altogether this was a symphony of Seafood and rice. This probably could be shared between two people. Unless you are just really hungry. So long story short, I highly recommend this place. Sometimes you go to fancy places like this and they got the nice decor. Sure. They got a nice view. Cool. But at the end of the day, the meal and the overall experience is what matters right? Ayawaska is the full package. If you live in the area and haven't tried this place yet, you are definitely missing out.
