She was weeded with so many people and it took too long to get simple appetizers. The restaurants ambiance is nice, but didn't see many plátano trees even though it is called el platanal. It's one of the first places you come to when entering the whole food area. However, you have to go up the hilly road to find the parking lot. The place is nice with indoor and outdoor seating. Outside it has an area with 2 TV's, basketball was playing. I loved all the decor. There are chickens and chicks around the restaurant and a cat that stopped by our table. BEWARE of the mosquitoes. We sat outdoors and I made a mention of the mosquitos and Mara said they had just run out of bug spray. One person in our party was wearing shorts and got bitten quite a bit. Mara was our waitress. She was extremely helpful and nice. We ordered the plantain soup, the avocado stuffed with cod fish and tri-fongo, and the sopa de mariscos with tostones. All was delicious.

The fried snapper fish was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. I tried their churrasco and trifongo (mofongo de plátano verde, plátano maduro, and yuca combined) It can get lively with a crowd and music, depending on the time of day, but that's part of the Piñones experience. One thing to keep in mind is that the beach access nearby isn't directly connected to the restaurant area, so if you're planning to visit both, having transportation makes things much easier. If you're walking, be prepared for a longer trek than you might expect. Overall, this spot is worth a stop.

It has a lot of visual appeal & feels like somewhere you'd want to sit, vibe,& linger for a bit. There's outside sitting which was refreshing b/c you feel the cool PR breeze from the nearby beach. The service, however, could have been more attentive. The waiter was a bit hard to catch @ times which took away from the overall experience. I literally had to try to get his attention multiple times which was frustrating. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. I ordered the snapper, & while it had potential (b/c the flavor was def there)it was fried a bit too much & came out on the dry side. I also got a dried out lime so that didn't help to add juice to the fish. The white rice & beans were actually the highlight of the meal(well-seasoned & really enjoyable). I also tried the cod fish fritter (bacalaito), but it was overly greasy & didn't really have much cod fish in it, which was disappointing. Overall, the atmosphere is gr8 & worth checking out for the ambiance and photos, but the food & service could use some improvement.

Solid start. This is a classic chinchorro spot, so we went straight for the fried stuff: a bacalaito and two pastelillos (langosta y carne). The pastelillos were the real stars--perfectly crunchy, flaky, and stuffed with well-seasoned fillings. Our server accidentally broke the carne one and, without missing a beat, threw in an extra on the house. That kind of easygoing generosity is exactly the vibe you want from a roadside spot. The bacalaito had great flavor, though I'd have loved a little more crunch on it. Service was friendly and fast throughout. All of this (food, drinks, tax, and tip) came in under $25. No complaints there. If you're doing the chinchorreando thing along Route 187, put Donde Olga on the list. Highly recommend.

Food was called as it was made and they cross it off your receipt, so do not expect to eat as a family. We ordered 8 items, but only for 5. 3 orders were not provided and it was difficult to communicate that our food wasn't provided. (They call your name as they make one or two things) I After much confused discussion, it was determined that the receipt had blown away. The experience was "meh" at best. Would try anything else if I return to the area and wouldn't try this place again. It did seem like many locals came here and we were the only tourists, so maybe it's better if this is a place where you're a regular customer.

Most folks are locals looking for a good meal at a reasonable price, and this restaurant is a practical choice. It's been clean everytime I've been here, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. The staff works with me since I'm Deaf, and lip-reading Spanish is 25% lip-reading and 75% guessing/filling in the blanks. Edit: Its important to mention that outside of the mainland US, when you say BBQ, you're thinking smoked meats like Kansas BBQ, Texas BBQ, Memphis BBQ with a variety of BBQ sauces, but in countries like Philippines and here in Puerto Rico if simply means like your backyard BBQ on your gas grill. Zero smoked flavor and sauces.

Once we finally ordered, things got worse: a group that sat at the bar a full 20 minutes after we arrived got their food before us. We ended up waiting over an hour total for our food. When it finally came out, it was cold and just not good. After that long of a wait, we expected the food to at least make up for it, but it didn't. Between the slow service and the disappointing food, I can't recommend this spot right now or will I come back.
