Quick service, but the food is only being reheated to serve. One of our fritters was too crunchy and the temperature was barely warm. The flavors were good though. Completely outdoor seating but it's covered by the mountains and trees so seems to remain cool year-round. Lovely vibe. Recommend asking for food made to order to really enjoy your experience.

My friends and I had just arrived in Puerto Rico and were excited to kick off our trip with some authentic frituras in Piñones. Unfortunately, this spot left us completely disappointed. We were seated by a waiter who initially seemed fine, but things quickly went downhill. We clearly ordered two of each fritura listed on the menu--alcapurrias, bacalaítos, pinchos, and papa rellenas--along with parcha juice and two alcoholic drinks. As native Spanish-speaking Hispanics from New York, we communicated clearly and politely in Spanish. What we got instead? Three plates of pastelitos--with no explanation of what was inside. We had to guess and smell to figure out the fillings, which turned out to include seafood (something not all of us eat). Thinking the rest of our order was still on the way, one of my friends approached the waiter--who was now sitting at the counter--to ask about the rest of the frituras. He dismissively told us that the pastelitos were the frituras we ordered, despite the fact that the menu clearly lists several distinct frituras, and pastelitos are not all of them. To make matters worse, we weren't even given plates or utensils. When we tried to clarify the issue, the waiter became rude and condescending, insisting he had fulfilled the order. At that point, we had enough. We paid our bill and left--$80 for 12 pastelitos, of which we only ate 5 due to the mystery fillings and poor service. Avoid this place if you're looking for authentic food, good service, or even basic respect. Totally misleading, overpriced, and disappointing
After a long tour of San Juan with still more to go and see before going back on the Carnival Celebration, my family stopped at Donde Olga for some snacks and refreshments. It was a hot day in San Juan, the first thing we wanted to get was some ice cold sodas. The way the restaurant operates is that you get in line to order at the counter and place your order, this is not a sit-down restaurant. The service during the ordering part is rather quick, even with the amount of regular customers it gets and the busload from our tour. We quickly got our sodas; it was a whole other thing when ordering the empanada for my brother. We sat down to wait for the empanada. We waited and waited, 20 minutes later we were still waiting. The tour guide had to go complain after we did as the restaurant has an understanding with the tour that they are supposed to get the food out quicker to them. Looks like there was some mix-up. My brother enjoyed the empanada, I did not like being served last and well after the entire tour group.
This was really some authentic food. Be prepared to be sitting semi outside. There's a small parking lot out front and a lot of tables you can sit at. We came during the day so there weren't many people there yet. We were told the fish was fresh that day so that's exactly what we had ordered. It was delicious and seasoned to perfection as the skin was extra crispy yet not overly salty. The rice was good and it came with a side of salad. Something so simple but so good as it made me feel and realize that I'm on the island finally! The only downfall was it was super hot/humid - no AC or fans and there were a whole bunch of flies. But the food here is excellent especially the alcapurria and empanadas. I would recommend if you are coming for the good eats!
A picturesque ocean drive from Carolina to Loíza where you can enjoy local dining experiences and practice what Puerto Ricans call chinchorreo Another restaurant in the same line- clean, lots of seating options.. we were there around 3 PMish. We settled down, waiting for some server, but nobody came for taking the order so we ordered at a kiosk in the queue (order/receipt, then they call your name kind of system). though we had Bacalaito and arepa at other joints, we tried the same to see what flavor we get here. oily- yes, but yeah it's fine sometimes. food was fresh, yummy. Try to have their local drinks which they recommend -it's good. Alcapurrias - cylindrical deep-fried mass of grated yautía, yuca, and green plantains, and filled with crabmeat, beef, or chicken Bacalaito - Another Piñones staple is this iconic codfish fritter. You can find it anywhere in Puerto Rico, but nowhere as crunchy as in Piñones and Empanadas- Everyone knows what it is
Great service and great food! We ordered from the premade food and not off the menu. The crab and beef corn meal fritters were delicious and tasty! The real winner though was the chicken kabobs. That was so tender and so moist. With BBQ sauce it was extremely flavorful. The staff are very welcoming and eager to serve. They have their own glorified parking lot and have a full bar. We did not order the paella but I will say it looked delicious!
Very popular place to eat. Our friend took us here to try it. I personally didn't like it because too much fried food but my family loved it. So you order the food/pay first than the receipt you get you give it to the cook. Than when the food is ready you pick up your food. There is picnic tables were you can sit down and eat.

Donde Olga was exactly what we needed after a long flight and an even longer walk--a cold Medalla, a Don Q coco con Sprite, and a covered patio with a genuinely great breeze. Solid start. This is a classic chinchorro spot, so we went straight for the fried stuff: a bacalaito and two pastelillos (langosta y carne). The pastelillos were the real stars--perfectly crunchy, flaky, and stuffed with well-seasoned fillings. Our server accidentally broke the carne one and, without missing a beat, threw in an extra on the house. That kind of easygoing generosity is exactly the vibe you want from a roadside spot. The bacalaito had great flavor, though I'd have loved a little more crunch on it. Service was friendly and fast throughout. All of this (food, drinks, tax, and tip) came in under $25. No complaints there. If you're doing the chinchorreando thing along Route 187, put Donde Olga on the list. Highly recommend. read more

Great ambiance, great food, really cold beer and good service. We had Rabo De Langosta Relleno and Chillo Entero. Cooked perfectly and delicious. Treat yourself next time you're in PR, we will be going back for sure. read more

Very popular place to eat. Our friend took us here to try it. I personally didn't like it because too much fried food but my family loved it. This place is great!! I'm not sure why the reviews very so much. It's a great, clean space.. perfect for a quick bite with family... the ground beef is the best here!! I highly recommend the alcapurria de carne , bacalaitos and the squid ceviche.. SO GOOD!! read more

This place was amazing! When traveling, I like to hit the "local" spots. Our Uber driver recommended this spot and he was spot on. The food and vibe was 100% was authentic and it's right across the street from the beach (where all the locals hang out at). If in San Juan, I highly recommend the food and experience. read more

It looks very unassuming from the outside. Small area where you order at the cashier and take your receipt to the stall to collect your food. We ordered a crab stuffed fritter, fried cod fritter and shrimp pastelillos. Everything was good especially the fried cod. The batter was tasty and overall not too greasy. read more
Folks were very nice. Warm and welcoming. Food is made fresh. Food is good. I tried the crab and lobster patties, along with the beef and crab fritters. Very good. Tasty lil snackeries. Music was poppin. Yelp says it closes at 3- but the server says they close at 8p. I'll be back before I leave. read more

Cozy and atmospheric place. Feel like you came to your grandma. The food so delicious. the staff is very friendly. clean establishment, there is a sanitizer, very safety place during pandemic. I am so excited . I advise everyone to visit this place. I would come back here again read more
before coming to PR I watched some videos on line of where are the best boric experiences out here. this kind of food is a must while visiting. it is well known that the fried food here is an attraction in itself and so I had no other choice but come by, I was lucky enough to have a local with me to bring me here as he told me this is one if not the best place to get this kind of food out in the area called pinones at the island. to get here was a bit of a challenge as the traffic in this island is a bit of a nightmare but once you are here the next little nightmare will be finding parking. this area is pretty busy it looked like. once we finally slaved those dragons of managing to get there and find parking, everything as forgiven. the way it works here is, they have these pic Nic style tables so people sit with strangers no problem, for ordering here they do not do table service so a line forms to order and then you give your receipt to the cooks who are frying the food right across from the cashier, as the food comes out they call your name for pick up. this restaurant has plenty of sitting all around and also keep in mind they only accept CASH here so make sure to bring some to have that gastronomic fun. now for what really matters: - MIDORI AND PINEAPPLE - I love sweet drinks so this was my drink of choice here. it was perfect in the sense that I felt like I was truly in a tropical vacation. - ALCAPURRIA - this is a fried yucca and platoon dough and they had several stuffings for it. * crab- AMAZING this one was by far the best one from the flavors I had, perfectly seasoned and not fishy at all. * beef - also real good but the meat had lacked a bit more flavor, on this one I felt more the flavor of the tough none the less a good item. - BACALAU - this fried cod fish with a yummy batter is a MUST when coming here, it is one of the best things they have to offer here. again if it is fried it will taste good for sure. this one appetizer is pretty amazing. - EMPANADA DE CAMARON- an empanada always has to happen, the shrimp in it was pretty good and it was a great amount of shrimp in this empanada very worth to try. -PIONONO- this one was my least favorite of the stuff we got, this little plantain ball stuffed with meat is pretty great for last as the ball itself is a bit sweet and may throw you off as far as the mix of the sweet and savory, I didn't think it was very well balanced in the end result. overall this is a very challenging destination to get, but very worth it when here. if possible try all they have to offer cause their fried goodies are pretty good. read more

Asked for Alcapurrias and one bacalaito ti share with my friend. The Alcapurrias were hard, but we ate them because that is a craving I had. The bacalaito (cod fish fritter) was extremely salty and we could not eat it. When he brought to the owner's attention, he refused to acknowledge or do anything about it (like offer something else) and got extremely irate and told us that we just wanted to harm his business. He also insulted me because I was talking to someone about it on my phone. I will never go there again!!! read more

During a recent visit to Puerto Rico, our tour guide brought us here because this is where the locals eat. Well, all I can say is MIND BLOWN. This was likely the most exciting and delicious meal of our entire trip. It was certainly filling, as we gorged ourselves on a variety of fried and grilled creations, and of course enough rice and beans to alter our genes into honorary Puerto Ricans. We sampled empanadas of various fillings (beef, chicken, crab), crab alcapurrias (cassava fritters filled with crab), skewers of both plain and BBQ chicken thighs, grilled pork, and of course the glorious rice and beans. This was the meal we were hoping for! We were only in Puerto Rico for 1 1/2 days leading up to a cruise, and we wanted to experience the best of the best. It's so easy to get stuck with touristy Puerto Rican food (not the real deal), but Donde Olga definitely delivered. I'm literally drooling as I write this review. I want nothing more than to go into ANOTHER deep-fried food coma after a meal here. It's so worth it. read more

Ordered a Pollo al Ajillo to go. Knowing we would not see this until getting home, the cook was incompetent and did a terrible job. Chicken is badly cooked, only has a ton of raw garlic paste and oil. Terrible taste and nothing close to what they serve at the restaurant normally. Owner should be ashamed of this terrible practice. read more

The place was nicely setup to meet Covid rules. Temperature was measured and everything was wiped out after every guest. The food was ok. It was my birthday that day, so they really have me a lot of attention, which i appreciated very much. read more
