Dinner this evening was at Casa Luna! Very hyped by locals and visitors alike... Sophia was our server, very nice, did a great job! We had sangria a Bombay martinis (martinis off the menu), both were deelish! For food we started with an order of alcapurria, a local dish made of seasoned beef encased in crushed plantains, deep fried. Very good with both the creole and garlic sauces! We had the cad croquettes next, great flavor, but a lot of filler... better with more cod! Finally, the goat stew mofongo was delicious, no sauces, just plain... way good! Casa Luna is a small place, nothing fancy, A/C in the back room only. Not quite run down, but could use a facelift! Aesthetics aside, a good meal in old San Juan. The mofongio is worth the stop!

Followed the Yelp stars to Casa Luna to try authentic Mofongo during a trip to Old San Juan. Our party of four tried the beef and chicken mofongo, mojitos, and an avocado salad. Fresh, flavorful, generous portions plated sublime. Everything tasted homemade and delish! Menus were in English and Español, prices were on par with city dining.

The food was very tasty. The 7 of us ate the entire dish! The ambiance is ok, on the rustic side really. The service is good, but the lady seem to be by herself in a semi busy Saturday. It took a little longer tgan ussual to get our dishes

I am back home in Puerto Rico and what I love about the place besides the culture and our history is the food. So if you're looking for true authentic Puerto Rico food then don't pass by Casa Luna. This place is no joke. They are serious in helping you discover new flavors that will leave you at the edge of your seat asking for more. They are attentive to your needs in making sure you are happy with the plate that is served to you. The chicken and beef empanadas are a must to start with. I ordered the grilled octopus and it far exceeded my expectations. The mofongo stuffed with chicken could easily serve three people. It comes with a side of fried plantains and of course my meal is not complete unless I have the red rice and beans where the sofrito is sautéed. You will not leave hungry, that I can promise you.

So good!! We will definitely be coming here again on our vacay. Definitely try the mofongo.

The food here was fantastic. It's a small little place on Casa Luna St in the heart of old San Juan. The front entrance and bar area were no A/C, and it was hot out, so we went to the back room for seating. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and empanadas for apps. They were the best I had in the island all week. Juicy and flavorful. I chose the "stuffed" chicken for my main course and again, it was delicious. It was actually a wrapped chicken breast, wrapped with prosciutto, bacon and cheese, and topped with a lovely sauce. This was the last meal of the week and it was easily the most delicious. Highly recommended.

Garlic goat

I came in expecting something else but ended up with the garlic goat--and I'm not even mad. It was tender like a slow-cooked pot roast, packed with garlic and deep flavor. Paired it with sangria and honestly might have discovered a new go-to. If you're hesitant about goat, this dish will change your mind. Unexpected win at Casa Luna

Monfongo with shrimp and garlic sauce

We had tried to get into a crazy busy restaurant up the street, but it was an hour wait. So, we walked a few steps and saw Casa Luna. It was pretty empty, and the decor is very basic, but the reviews were great. We decided to give it a try. Very glad we did! Started off with some rum shots, and then went straight to the food. We had a stuffed avocado, a chicken stew, 2 chicken monfongos and one shrimp. We all got the recommended garlic sauce. It was all soooo good!! Very large portions and an attentive waitress. We couldn't imagine that the first, busier place could have been any better. And, to be fair, we got to Casa Luna after 8:30 and they close at 9, so it definitely may have been busier earlier. Bottom line, don't let the simple decor deter you. This place is awesome for authentic Puerto Rican food!

I went through a food tour so I can't speak to the service, but the food was excellent! We mashed our own mofongo and it was served with delicious chicken, beans, and rice! It was super flavorful! We also had a pina colada which was delicious but didn't seem very strong. The ambiance inside was a little bit stale, but overall the experience was lovely.

Me with our server Yolinet, who's also a manager. Wonderful young lady!

This place was great! My wife, son, and I went there after touring the fort and we just couldn't have picked a better place to eat. I had the stuffed chicken with vegetables, my wife had the Mofongo with chicken (with the white sauce, it was banging..... wish they had a bottle of that) and my son had the chicken pasta. All of it was absolutely delicious! Hell I cleaned my plate as well as my wife's. Our server, who was also the manager, Yolinet was super friendly and just delightful. When I asked about dessert, I was given two choices. One was a tomato dish (yes... a tomato) with cheese and cinnamon. Can't recall the name of the dish but Yolinet smiled when she talked about so I figured what the hell. And wow was I surprised how good it tasted. I don't have a pic but the sweet and cinnamon flavor was fantastic. If you closed your eyes and ate it, you would have never guessed you were eating a tomato. If we ever visit Old San Juan again, we're definitely heading back to Casa Luna!

Food was DELICIOUS & service was friendly. We wanted to try Puerto Rican mofongo while we were in town - it was one of the best dishes I have tasted yet on my trip. My husband and I ordered the chicken mofongo to share with the sauce the server recommended. Chicken was tender & juicy and the sauce was very flavorful. My husband also ordered the manchego and chorizo croquettes which were also quite tasty. The mojito was good, but not super strong... which could be good or bad depending on your taste. Highly recommend this place!

Its a fine dining restaurant so the restaurant is really upscale but they also made the restaurant a bit cozy at the same time. The service was amazing as well. Im sorry I forgot his name but he paid really good attention and constantly checked on us especially for my allergies. The food was some of the most delicious food ive ever tasted, especially the risotto (10/10). There was one dish that my girlfriend didnt like but they went immediately to get her something new. Im only giving a 4 star because the dessert i had did have something I was allergic to despite reassurance which cause swollen lips and throwing up outside. Im not sure if the dessert was pre-made but having the allergens directly on the menu may help. Otherwise I completely recommend trying here.

It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria.
