My mother and I were here on 8/27/24 via the Carnival Firenze and one of their excursions. It cost about $60pp and included transportation, lounger, and pool/beach access. I would not say it is an amazing property since it is quite small and not attached to a hotel, but was nice. Everyone who was on the tour found the perfect place for them. People were eating and drinking but you had to pay for it all. Based on other reviews I had read, it mentioned that they would charge you for eating and drinking your own stuff but did not have any issues. Weather was enjoyable and it was a nice day. Would I be back...maybe but much prefer the day passes at the Marriott properties as I have done in the past.

We loved Sabal Playa. In fact, I would go far enough to say that this was the highlight of our Mexico cruise. Our cruise buddies booked an excursion here, which quickly sold out. We were told we could grab a taxi here and buy a day pass, which is what we did with minimal issues. We did not quite know what to expect. Initially, we envisioned a hotel or something of that nature, but it is more of a beach club instead. There is a pool, ample seating, and access to the beach. In addition, they have servers walking around offering drinks and food. Do not miss out on their food!!! I had the amazing shrimp gouda tacos here that make every other shrimp taco I've ever eaten pale in comparison. The drinks were also very good and just boozy enough. One drawback that we found was that they had some merchants occasionally walking around to offer their goods, be it tote bags, jewelry, or hats. A bit annoying, but I respect the hustle. Overall, if your cruise line is offering this excursion or you are thinking of venturing out on your own--do it!

Hidden gem in mixture of private condos and hotels. Next to delcanto. Access from the street or beach. Amazing sunset and delicious food. Live music Wednesday and Friday Shrimp Gouda tacos was basically a cross of queso fundido and shrimp tacos. Phenomenal. My husband loved the steak and we are from Texas where we get top notch steaks. The burgers itself were really good but my parents didn't like the bread. It was too thick and crunchy to bite into. Best view of the sunset. The GM was extremely friendly and personable. Must visit!

Came here on 9/11/19 as it was offered as an excursion through Carnival Cruise. It's part of a massive complex of other hotels and resorts about 25 minutes from the port. We wanted beach access however we were looking to get away from the constant flow of vendors since there are no private beaches in Mexico. This place is phenomenal! Not a hotel or resort, just a beach club meaning a restaurant, bathrooms, pools, chairs and access to the beach. The grounds are well manicured and all areas are pristine. Service was amazing, they wait on you hand and foot and for visitors coming from the States the prices are outstanding. We each ordered a seafood dish and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. I came with someone that relies on a walker for stability and she was able to get around with no issues. To go to the beach though you have to walk down 8 steps and the water is no more than 200 feet away. The waters were pretty calm but there were some waves that broke close to the shore at times. We were able to use some boogie boards and paddleboards for free. You can come here on your own and I believe they told me the entrance fee is about $25. Only issue is that they are doing construction right next door so there was some noise although it wasn't intolerable. Absolutely recommend this place for anyone visiting that wants a relaxing and safe environment.

If you book an excursion here through the cruise, make sure you get off the bus first so you can snag the lounge chairs near the pool.

ZERO STARS, don't waste your money…read more I stayed at the Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta for nine nights in April, booking through WestJet Vacations, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what was advertised. I have been going to all inclusive resorts since a teenager, some budget friendly and others over the top 5 star. Never have had a complaint until this trip. I arrived just before 6 PM and wasn't settled into my final room until 9 PM -- after being moved four times. The first room I was placed in was located in the very back corner of the resort, next to an alleyway that separates it from the neighboring property -- right beside the loading dock, which appeared to serve as the food delivery area. The room was extremely small, with barely enough space to walk around the bed. It felt more like a prison cell than a hotel room. The next two rooms were just as bad: outdated, dirty, and both rooms the sliding doors didn't even lock. As a single female traveler, I was shocked when the front desk told me not to worry because "it's a safe area." At a minimum, functioning locks should be a basic standard. Only after involving a manager was I finally moved to a fourth room -- which, ironically, was the exact room type I had originally booked and the only one advertised on the WestJet Vacations website. The resort later claimed this was a complimentary "upgrade," which I find incredibly misleading. The food was by far the worst I've encountered at any all-inclusive -- and I'm not a picky eater. The buffet had limited options (8-10 hot items and a small salad/fruit bar), and I ended up walking out of every à la carte restaurant because the food was completely inedible. There were no restrooms inside the à la cartes -- guests had to use the washroom near the pool, which was always wet and sandy. Entertainment was minimal at best. A few chairs at the bottom of the main lobby stairs served as the "show area," and the pool played the same 10 songs on repeat every day. Aside from one foam party, there were no engaging activities or real entertainment, which was very disappointing. Most staff (aside from one friendly cleaning lady) were rude or dismissive, often pretending not to understand even basic questions I reported my experience to WestJet after returning home. The resort responded that the final room I was moved to was an "upgrade," and therefore, I would not be reimbursed -- despite the fact that it was simply the room I had booked in the first place. Completely dismissing all the other issues. My trip was a little over $3800... Throughout my stay, nearly every guest I spoke to shared the same complaints: horrible food, poor service, and a rundown, misrepresented resort. I would not recommend this resort to anyone, save your money

This restaurant is one of Riu's five dining options. Make…read moresure to make a reservation, as they are reservation only and there are only two seatings: at 6:30 pm and at 8:45 pm. They close the doors and even if there are free tables before closing, they don't admit without the reservation. Upon entry, everyone is presented with a glass of pink champagne and then you're seated at the table. They then take your order and bring out the bread and the appetizers. There are three appetizer options (foie gras, turnover with cheese, and salmon) and you get to try them all. Then you pick your starter, entree, and dessert. Now, let's get down to why this place gets 2 stars: one for champagne, one for the starters. The crispy foie gras wasn't crispy, but rather soggy, and the salmon didn't taste that great. The salad was good, and my mom really liked here mushroom ragout (she said that was the best dish during that dinner). My friend's ceviche had mashed potatoes in the bottom, and the shrimp and the scallops were too sour to her taste (as was the mash). The lobster risotto wasn't made with risotto rice and my friend and my mom didn't like it. The sea bass that my dad and I got was prepared well, but I wish they gave us more of the miso sauce. That would have saved the dish and masked the fact that the dish tasted as if it was made from frozen fish... The asparagus was good though. The desserts are not just not worth the calories, they're simply unedible. And I eat all desserts... Just not the ones that taste like cool whip mixed with gelatin. They really need a good pastry chef! Because box brownies are better than what they serve.
