ZERO STARS, don't waste your money
I stayed at the Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta for nine nights in April, booking through WestJet Vacations, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what was advertised. I have been going to all inclusive resorts since a teenager, some budget friendly and others over the top 5 star. Never have had a complaint until this trip.
I arrived just before 6 PM and wasn't settled into my final room until 9 PM -- after being moved four times. The first room I was placed in was located in the very back corner of the resort, next to an alleyway that separates it from the neighboring property -- right beside the loading dock, which appeared to serve as the food delivery area. The room was extremely small, with barely enough space to walk around the bed. It felt more like a prison cell than a hotel room.
The next two rooms were just as bad: outdated, dirty, and both rooms the sliding doors didn't even lock. As a single female traveler, I was shocked when the front desk told me not to worry because "it's a safe area." At a minimum, functioning locks should be a basic standard.
Only after involving a manager was I finally moved to a fourth room -- which, ironically, was the exact room type I had originally booked and the only one advertised on the WestJet Vacations website. The resort later claimed this was a complimentary "upgrade," which I find incredibly misleading.
The food was by far the worst I've encountered at any all-inclusive -- and I'm not a picky eater. The buffet had limited options (8-10 hot items and a small salad/fruit bar), and I ended up walking out of every à la carte restaurant because the food was completely inedible. There were no restrooms inside the à la cartes -- guests had to use the washroom near the pool, which was always wet and sandy.
Entertainment was minimal at best. A few chairs at the bottom of the main lobby stairs served as the "show area," and the pool played the same 10 songs on repeat every day. Aside from one foam party, there were no engaging activities or real entertainment, which was very disappointing.
Most staff (aside from one friendly cleaning lady) were rude or dismissive, often pretending not to understand even basic questions
I reported my experience to WestJet after returning home. The resort responded that the final room I was moved to was an "upgrade," and therefore, I would not be reimbursed -- despite the fact that it was simply the room I had booked in the first place. Completely dismissing all the other issues. My trip was a little over $3800...
Throughout my stay, nearly every guest I spoke to shared the same complaints: horrible food, poor service, and a rundown, misrepresented resort.
I would not recommend this resort to anyone, save your money read more
