I'm not really sure about Thai restaurants…read more I've been to a couple of Thai restaurants (including one in Bangkok) but I have never really been all that impressed with them. It is not that I don't like Thailand, or the food, but rather because they don't use chopsticks. I even asked my friend who had spent some time in Thailand whether they use chopsticks to which he replied that they just use the humble fork. When I eat Asian food I like eating it with chopsticks, but then that is just my preference. This was an odd restaurant though because despite it being a Thai restaurant, the wall had a number of paintings of scenes from Greece, and one from Australia. The only reference to Thailand that I could find (with the exception of the name and the food) was a photo of the Floating Market tucked away behind the counter. The food was okay (though I forgot to spice it up) but the one dish that really caught my attention was the one that my friend bought. I can't remember its name but it was a curry with bamboo shoots in it and it reeked. I thought it was just me until a number of other objections also began to float up from the table, so I decided to hold my nose until we ended up leaving.

I absolutely love Mamanee Thai. It's not a restaurant that you go to for the scene or the decor but…read morerather the big bold delicious flavors, generous portions and true authenticity of each dish. The service is quick and friendly and since it truly is a hidden gem we've never had to wait for a table. Each dish presents itself well and there is a HUGE menu that should be able to suit anyone's preference. But be warned, even their medium spiced dishes are quite full on and may be too much for anyone not ready and/or willing. One of the other stars of this restaurant are the two sweet older women preparing all of the food in the front of the house. They have thoughtfully created and prepared each dish and it comes across in the satisfying flavor. You can't go wrong with any dish here.

Fairy Floss, they make these fun characters out of cotton candy…read more This is a small but fun place to dine. The pork belly dish was out of this world and I enjoyed every bite!!.The caorcoal burger was a 1st but a definite must try the bun was sweet and blended well with the rest of the burger.

"Oh man this is so good" - me, last night, after every dish I ate at Son in Law…read more True story. It was around 7:30pm on a Thursday and we were easily able to grab a seat inside, though the colourful courtyard out the back was full. The wait staff were incredibly friendly throughout our meal, very attentive without being annoying and clearly cared about what they were serving, which is always so nice to see. We started with Betel Leaf with prawn, Roast Duck Bao and, of course, Son in Law eggs. All three were incredible dishes and the perfect two-bite size for an appetizer (though we did feel the Betel Leaf was just a squidge too small.) You absolutely MUST have the Son in Law eggs - they are a truly delectable mash of flavours that you will talk about for weeks after. Wow. For mains we had Chicken with Cashew and Twice Cooked Crispy Pork Belly with a serve of rice to share. While we both looked at the dishes and thought "Hmm, quite small" we were VERY full by the end. I think cheaper Thai restaurants have ruined me with their oversized portions, so when I get a good size it seems tiny. Moral of the story: You will be full, you will be satisfied, you will be telling everyone you know about this place because the food is INCREDIBLE. So. Much. Flavour.
