He genuinely cares about his customers satisfaction and that is so extremely rare these days. Steven got the job done well, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS stayed in close communication with all updates on the job. That in itself is priceless!!! We recommend Cleanest Painting and will be repeat customer's .

Steven was priced in the middle and his job included Benjamin Moore Regal Select which is one of their highest quality paints. He described his company as a close-knit group of guys that have been working together for years and that they were a smaller, specialty painting crew that had experience working with high-end homes. Exactly what I was looking for. When I met Steven, I liked him right away. He is very friendly and personable. We walked around my home together and he pointed out all of the issues and what he would do to fix them. We were completely on the same page about everything. In addition, I really liked that he asked me if there were specific things that I wanted him to pay attention to. I told him: to remove all light switch covers to avoid the square brush strokes around the covers; to tape all molding so the transitions of paint would be clean and neat; and to make sure that everything was properly covered so that paint didn't splatter. He assured me everything would be taken care of and I felt like I was in great hands. The day the job was supposed to start, Steven asked me if he could use a different brand paint and do a color match to my actual Benjamin Moore paint because the cost of the paint in Hoboken was more expensive that he thought it would be. I said absolutely not because I wanted the paint to match. So, the job was delayed by a day so Steven could go buy the paint he promised me from a different store where it was cheaper. NOT A GOOD START. After two days of watching his guys paint without Steven being there, I asked him to come meet me at my house to talk about the work so far. I explained to him that the guys were doing the EXACT things I told him I didn't want. They didn't remove the light switch covers, they weren't using tape AT ALL to ensure clean paint lines, and their tarps and covers did not fully cover all of my floors so there was already paint splatter. I literally had to tell one guy to stop working until I spoke with Steven. This one guy was the worst. Steven came to talk to me and I told him that I didn't think his company was right for the job, I said would pay him his costs for the supplies and the guys working for two days and we could part ways. Steven begged me to allow him to finish the job and that he would make sure everything went perfect from that point on because having a satisfied customer was the most important part. I agreed. There were 3 guys there painting all day, and I told Steven I wanted a different guy to replace the one that wasn't doing a good job and I asked him what his name was. HE DIDN'T KNOW. He had to ask his head paint guy. Okay, so now this makes sense. Steven works with one main guy, and then this guy brings in his own guys to do the work. Not a close knit group, this job was literally outsourced to another guy who then brought in his own two guys that Steven had never worked with before and DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEIR NAMES! I was furious but I let him continue. Once the guys were done, we did a walk through and I pointed out all of the remaining issues. He offered to bring in his uncle who has been painting for 30 years to clean up all of the mistakes and to get this right. I said yes and he really was great. He cleaned up a lot of the mistakes and got things to a point where I was much happier, but I was still pissed that I was dealing with all of these issues in the first place. When the job was fully complete, I did my own walk through and that's when I saw all of the mistakes, ESPECIALLY all of the paint that splattered everywhere. On my floors, on my audio/video equipment tower, on my garage tile floor which cost me $7,000 and on my custom cabinetry which cost me $15,000. I showed Steven many pictures with the paint splattered everywhere including outside my house on the concrete house columns, small concrete driveway and the street and sidewalk. Steven offered to come to the house to clean up and I said absolutely not, that I didn't want him or anyone from his company setting foot in my house again. I spent $100 on cleaning products and spent the next week getting all the paint splatter out of the different areas in my house. My advice is to not hire Steven if you have a high-end job. I think Steven should focus his work on small projects like small apartments and condos and work with people that don't require the very best work. Unless his uncle is doing the painting, I would ask a lot of questions and would ask for a test day of his guys to actually watch them work before paying anything. It's just not worth the aggravation, headache, time, disappointment and frustration working with his company.
