After literally trying for years (!) to find a competent asphalt paving company, I happened to see a great job the company did in Setauket. As we are a distance east of there, was not sure they'd make the trip. But they sent their salesman right out! Our driveway grade was a problem: there was hardly any elevation change from our garage to the street, and different angles were involved. After careful elevation measurement, they recommended installation of a drywell. We decided against that because of cost. They assured us they'd take every step to make it the best it could be, but could not guarantee that some puddling might occur. We decided to hope for the best. The crew came out earlier than expected, and got right to work. Paving machine was used and during the job foremen were shooting levels to ensure the drive would drain to the street. Well, after light, moderate, and torrential rains, our driveway looks great and drains perfectly! This company was doing work at my neighbors house a few weeks ago. They parked all their trucks in front of my house to unload the bobcat and other equipment. The crew was laying on my front lawn during breaks which was awkward considering they were not doing work for my property but not a big deal. Upon leaving they damaged some of our landscaping lighting loading up the bobcat on their trucks which prompted me to call and speak to someone. They advised that I would receive a call back and never did. Several calls later my wife spoke someone who said "the guys said they didn't do it" and that someone was going to call me back. This was over a week ago and no call. I believe that the guys don't know they did it....if they did know I would have expected them to knock on my door to tell me but they obviously didn't realize they damaged the lights. I received an estimate which was revised upward after no communication and no contract by the owner. When I asked for the contract, the next day the owner came out to my property unannounced for the first time. This was over a month after the first estimate by his employee. That afternoon, I received a call canceling my project. I am very disappointed and feel betrayed by the BBB rating, which I used to find a reputable business for my $25,000. project. I'm glad this deal went south before they started. They show no honesty, no integrity and do not deserve my business. Sorry I couldn't leave no stars. That's what they really deserve. I shopped around for a driveway/paving company in March 2021 and decided to use S Warren. I called on April 7th to confirm my decision and the office manager told me that it would be a few weeks until they could begin. They didn't start the job until June 4th when they did the demo of my old driveway. That was 2 months not a few weeks. The supervisor of the demo told me that it would be 2-3 weeks before they could get the masons to install the pavers. After 4 weeks, I called and spoke to the office manager who said that she didn't know when they would get to my job. The pavers weren't available but no one had called to let me know or ask if I wanted to choose something different. They don't order the pavers until they begin the job but, with the shortage right now, I was going to have to wait. She said that she would call me back but she didn't. I called again on July 14th and she said that the pavers were going to be cut by Cambridge on July 18th but it would still be awhile because the pavers had to be ordered, delivered, and then we would go on a list because other people were ahead of us. I was not happy with what she was telling me. She seemed very agitated and she told me that all she does all day is respond to similar complaints from other customers. I asked to speak to Brett, the owner. He called that evening but did nothing but yell at me and talk over me throughout the whole phone call. He was very defensive of his office manager and he said that I had called her a liar but that wasn't true. When I tried to say that I understood the paver problem, he cut me off and said that I didn't understand anything and hung up on me. The next morning, I received an email saying that they were canceling my job and refunding my deposit. I was glad that they refunded my money because after the way that I was treated, I wouldn't have wanted to do business with this company. However, they left me with a mess of RCA all over my driveway and all my Belgium blocks thrown along the side of the driveway. Luckily, I found a wonderful company who came immediately, installed the Belgium blocks within 4 days, delivered the pavers that I wanted within a week, and completed the entire job in less than a month. The driveway looks gorgeous and his cost was less than S Warren. His workers were also very respectful and responsive. I'm so happy that it all worked out but S Warren either has taken on more work than he can handle or he priced the job too low and decided to bow out. Don't give him your business! The only reason for the 1 star rating is because you can't post a review without selecting a star rating. If i could, I would have given no stars. read more

Many years ago we used S. Warren to remove and replace our asphalt driveway. Then they did a great job. In Spring 2019 we had them back to do the same. This time we had nothing but trouble from the onset. Our driveway looks terrible, they did a poor job! We've called and emailed and the driveway sits with puddles and thinned out asphalt due to their "repair" work. Buyer beware. Poor quality of work. read more

Seven years ago, I had a paver walkway installed and since it looks as beautiful as it did when it was first installed, I knew who to call for my patio installation. From start to finish, it was a great experience! While receiving the estimate, I was greeted with warmth and kindness. S. I can't express enough how great their work is! They did an outstanding job and accounted for issues with the grading and pitch which all the other companies seem to overlook. If you have them do any masonry work, Junior is truly a perfectionist and it shows. I have received so any compliments on the finished product already and they just finished today! Brett the salesman is completely arrogant and unprofessional. He couldn't handle a customer asking for a discount when they clearly changed the original estimate for them to do less work. He actually had the nerve to hang up on me.. even when I was hoping to still get them to do the work and pay top dollar!! What an extremely unprofessional company. Probably best I am finding someone else, since I can only imagine what would happen if they did the work and there was an issue that went wrong.
