What an absolute joke of a company. Please read the screenshots attached. The owner kept making excuses about why he couldn't keep promises or plans, couldn't get the color correct although he stated "I wrote everything down" When I confronted him about not being happy he threatened me called me a "little boy" and he "wished he'd seen me outside" I spoke to the supplier, who stated he's done this more than once. I made a police report regarding his verbal threats to me and my mother. He continued saying "hang up the phone I'll kick your ass right now" when I hung up, he verbally continued to threaten physical harm but refused to speak or actually approach, idle threats. He's an absolute joke, nothing but a salesman with a bad attitude, every serious question we had was followed up with "I'm the best" "I've been in business for 20+ years" and a ridiculous display of photos from a book that weren't even close to what we were discussing. It was a hand selected proof of narcissistic display of his ego. James lost two jobs mine and my parents house and his exact words were "you think I give a fuck about these two" A clear indication of how he feels about "customers" If you read the plenty of one star reviews on both Google and Yelp, they have a consistent pattern of excuses, unkept promises and a poor attitude. If you check out all of my reviews you'll notice that when a business does right I'm quick to compliment and praise. My messages to the owner (James) and my patter of praise when deserved will solidify that I do not write reviews to hurt genuine businesses as James said I would do while threatening to physical assault me. My evidentiary proof and pattern of honest reviews will speak for themselves. I have never ever called the police on a business owners actions. This is certainly a first and should scream red flags to anyone considering work with James. read more

Scanapico Bros Landscaping - Landscaping Near Me - West Babylon, New York

I cannot speak higher of James Scanapico and his crew at Scanapico Bros. Landscaping and Masonry. Scanapico ripped out my old patio and stoop and installed a new one with focus, diligence, efficiency, and craftsmanship. From start to finish, James was always available, reachable, and returned all my calls promptly. He never belittled my concerns or requests, or made me feel like I was an annoyance (though I'm sure I was!). James arrived on site the day of the estimate on-time, walked the property, and listened to my ideas and design plan. He drew up a quote, a quote that was much more competitive than all the others I had received for less square footage. His men arrived the day he said they would, and completed the very large job in two days. Scanapico is in very high demand, so be patient and be prepared to wait a bit until your job is tended to, but this is because Scanapico does a great job, gets it done, and many people have him booked. James will keep you updated though and always follows through. James is a stand up guy who honors his word and whose values and approach to customer service is exemplary. For such a large project, you worry that the company may not have the trucks, machinery, expertise, and adequate number of workers, but this was not the case with Scanapico. The whole installation process was like a well-oiled machine. Scanapico does not do railings, but he was able to recommend to me a solid, dependable railing company who installed a core-drilled powder coated aluminum railing on the stoop that was installed. They did a wonderful job cleaning up and leaving my property looking absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend Scanapico Bros for any masonry project(s) you may have. You won't regret it! read more

These guys did an AMAZING job with our paver patio. Got the job done in a time crunch. Came out perfect. The attention to detail shown during the job was very impressive, and I am extremely happy with our decision to go with Scanapico. James was easy to communicate with, hilarious, and really seemed like a great guy. I'll be recommending James to anyone who asks me, and I'll be sure to use him again in the future. 11/10!!!! read more

This is the 2nd time we work with them and we truly can not be happier! Our home needed a new stoop, pathways, flower beds and driveways. It was not a small job by any means and after having several companies over, we opted to use them again and we love the job they did. So many people have complemented their work and they truly went above and beyond for us. The crews worked hard and left the job site super clean. read more

Friends of ours recommended Scanapico Brothers after they did a great job on their patio. The patio they created has totally changed my backyard into a resort at home. Fantastic workmanship and quality. We had a large job and as promised the work site was cleaned better than we expected. Having the opportunity to work with James was a unique experience as he made my wife and I very comfortable to do business with. We had several contractors provide estimates for our job, and James was right to the point and came in within our budget. Recent update, 2024, we used Scanapico twice since our last review. We had them install a patio around our pool to complete our backyard hard scape, and they just completed transforming our front yard with a beautiful paved driveway, walk, and stoop. Their workmanship, attention to detail, and their friendly service are great. They show up when they say they come with a large crew to get the job done and done right. We highly recommend James and his crew. read more

I can't say enough good things about scanapico. We had some pool steps and work done around our pool- and working with James was a pleasure. Originally we wanted to do way more work and he helped us save money. I never felt like he was money hungry or trying to get one up on us. The workers were extremely clean and did such a great job! We will definitely be using them for future work. read more

James, Troy and their crew did an amazing job on my paved patio and steps. They removed and old patio and were very professional and payed attention to detail and keeping the yard clean. The new paved patio came out great! They are knowledgeable and prompt. When the job was complete they brought topsoil in and leveled the lawn where ever there might have been damage. Its a pleasure to deal with them and their crew! They are Rockstar's in everything they do! read more

Got an estimate to replace my driveway back in May of 2021. Series of delays including not being able to get the pavers in. Multiple phone calls and empty promises to start next week, end of the month etc. fast forward to now and still no drive way. (Shame on me for being scammed by this guy) Happy to say I found another company and they are starting the job next week- amazing no problems with getting the pavers. read more

Run don't walk to phone to call and use Scanapico Landscaping and Masonry. Mr Scanapico is prompt, organized, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. His workers are careful, talented and clean up after the job. Can't ask for more than that. Thank Your Scanapico read more

Also 1 star because there is no zero option. Very inconsiderate. They regularly block driveways of property they are not working on. They did it again today and made it clear they would move when they were ready. Fortunately my husband did not arrive home while they were there. Oh yeah, there's the driving on the wrong side of the street thing too. read more

We have worked with Scanapico Bros. Landscaping & Masonry on two separate projects over the last year. They are phenomenal to work with. James was able to help us with the masonry design, and was able to execute the job within a very tight timeline. He was easy to communicate with and delivered on all of his commitments. His brother Troy and their staff of masons and landscapers were extremely professional. They not only do amazing work but also take the time to clean up after the job and ensure that everything was left better than they found it. My wife and I are glad to have found the Scanapico Bros. and will be gladly working with them on another landscaping and masonry job in the very near future. read more

Stay away from this place for patio work! The owner James is forgetful and full of excuses. Came to our house March 16th, quoted us out, we agreed, contract drawn up. Two weeks later we get put on the schedule for May 7th. We call May 4th to confirm the schedule, and were told the pavers are on back order (sure they are!). Call back numerous times with no call backs for 2 weeks. We get through, and were told pavers are in and call them back on the 24th, to see if they are still on schedule and for us to be put on for the following week. We call back on the 24th, and told we have to call back again the following week to do the same thing. Full of excuses and a complete bull sh*tter. Stay away. Poor customer service, they don't call customers, they make you call them. If you leave a message you don't get a call back. If you ring them and don't leave a message you get a call back within minutes from James saying Someone called me from this number? Screens calls! We have moved on. Please avoid the nightmare experience we've gone through. read more

I cannot even give him a star. He's full of excuses. We are waiting 19 months for James Scanapico to come back and REDO our driveway which he acknowledged must be redone. We have called many, many times only to be put off or told he will call us back and never does. He is a clown and a master of bulls$$t. We will never recommend his company to anyone. Stay away from this company unless you're looking for problems that will last for months bec he doesn't come back to finish the job. Robert T. read more

If you are looking for a company that treats you like family, Scanapico should be your one and only stop! We fell in love with James from the moment he came over for our first quote. He worked with us every step of the process, provided recommendations and really showed he cared. James, Troy and the entire crew brought a level of professionalism and expertise that exceeded our expectations. They are honest, priced fair, provide quality work, and treat your home like it is their own. They truly are a fantastic company. They will be our only call when we do the next project on our house. Thank you James and Troy for making our home look beautiful. read more

I could not be more thankful to Scanapico Brothers for the amazing work on the curb, walkways, stoop, and driveway! Scanapico's team worked 8am-7pm the first day and then 830am-1130am the next day and got ALL of this work done! Fast and high quality! I couldn't be happier! And James was amazing every step of the way; from the quote, to picking out the stone, to checking in and making sure all the work was being done to my standards! My house looks like a whole new house and I never imagined it could look so great! read more

I HATE them! Okay that's an understatement. They cut trees they weren't supposed to. They unevenly cut bushes and did not cut a back bush low enough. We never used them again and now our request on the door for NO SOLICITATIONS was ignored. Very disrespectful. I contacted the number on the newest flier (solicitation) and the creep on the phone was so stereotypical of a Long Island immature boy. read more

Highly disgusted with this company, first incident was last summer while my girlfriend was at mikes super citgo on sunrise in west Babylon and the landscapers were out side and as she walked in they proceeded to stare her down and cat call her and made her feel super uncomfortable.... second incident was last night as i was coming home from work one of the scanapico trucks just decided to make a u-turn in the middle of traffic at 6pm so i went around him and he honked and screamed at me "ASSHOLE", just disgusted how how this company even has customers. I would never recommend you guys to anyone. read more

Ronnie lied to me and scammed me. Paid thousands for an extensive project to revamp a dead lawn, 2500 sq ft and he promised me sod-cutting and fresh "finely screen topsoil, only the best" to start the new lawn. Didn't use a sod-cuting machine then argued about it with me. Put down topsoil unevenly and after first rain nothing but sand and rocks, how is that "finely screened" these guys are the WORST, block driveways, give excuses, then have the audacity to tell me that my "business" is nothing to them and that i shouldn't be complaining about what i paid them because its peanuts compared to their other business. They couldn't even cut the lawn properly, they blew leaves and grass clippings into the flowerbeds like i wouldn't notice. STAY FAR AWAY. WORST. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Unfortunately that's not an option. We met with James on March 31st for a quote on pavers for our yard. He seemed like an honest man so we chose to go with him. We went to his showroom on April 1st to choose pavers and set up a date. He asked us to call him back at the end of April for a start date. He assured us we'd be done before Memorial Day. Told us to plan a nice Memorial Day bbq. We called and he told us there were absolutely no pavers available And to call back mid May and he definitely get us done for early June but mid June tops. Nothing. He finally calls me and tells me our pavers are on their way. Pavers were delivered June 28th. He then said we should be good by the second week of July... tops!!! He told us several times he'd pass by to see the pavers and be sure we had everything. No show. All of July I called and texted. Why should I, the paying customer, have to hound someone? Fast forward to August 2nd. He promises he'll come by Aug 4th or 5th. He tells me hes busy so to please be sure someone is home. We stayed home both days. 5pm on the 5th I call him and he in a very nasty tone tells me he doesn't have time for this and he'll be by the next day. I politely said- "im sorry, James. That's not going to work. You've been very unprofessional and have left me waiting on several occasions and it's ridiculous already." Very nastily he says, "ok, whatever, you want me to get my pavers? I'll get my pavers out of there." That's how you speak to a customer who you've had waiting since MARCH? I had been super polite and understanding during this whole period of waiting. I was dumbfounded that he was so rude and unprofessional. I immediately asked him to take his bricks out of my home. By the silence on his end you could tell he did not expect me to cancel the job. An absolutely terrible businessman. Save yourself the hassle and choose someone else. We dodged a bullet. You've been warned. So happy with our new contractors. read more

The weirdest experience ever with this company. I used them last year everything was fine this year out of nowhere they don't show up to cut my lawn. I text them asking why they haven't cut my lawn this week . The owner replies that one of his workers cut his finger off. (Which btw is absolutely terrible ) I told him wow I'm so sorry to hear that i understand. Well now its the next week and still no cut lawn. My lawn now looks like a disaster . I text him again. What's the story with the grass? No answer. Make my husband call no answer. He text my husband about the landscaper who lost his finger and says he has no idea when he will be able to cut our lawn to hire someone else. Like what kind of business is this? You lose your whole business over one landscaper ? We haven't heard from him again.. It's the strangest thing i ever heard. I had to call 5 different places to finally get someone to my house. I would stay away read more

Gave one star because I couldn't give zero. Brand new service, first time out for them. Service requested was lawn service and weeding of flower beds. They did cut and edge the grass. The flower beds in the rear were already done by me. They never tended to the beds in the front of the house which had minimal weeding. There were dropping from the lawn mower in the driveway which could have been blown away, as well as caked grass clumps left from the mower on the grass. When I called to discuss it the owner Ronnie had an attitude and was rude. He stated they weeded a thin strip that runs along the driveway and that I shouldn't expect everything to be done the first time. I didn't see him offer progressive pricing based on they work that was done. Poor attitude, poor businessman. I cancelled their service. If you choose to use them, I would be sure to watch what they do and pay by check. read more

I have never been so fooled!! James seemed like the greatest business man . We chose him over 3 other contractors because we truly believed that he would take care of us. We received an estimate for a large patio and walkway in our backyard , back in May. He told us he was very busy and would get us in by early July. Then July rolled around and he actually came by to tell us that he could not get the materials in due to Covid and said he would get the job done in August for certain. We were disappointed but understood. 2nd week of August comes around and I had to call him to follow up. He gave me a disrespectful response telling me he would get me in on August 31st- am I supposed to be happy that he would get me in on the very last day of the month??? He just said that to appease me. Well, the end of the story is , we never heard from James again. He had no intention of doing our job or completely forgot!!! Do not use them! I cannot understand how a business man has remained in business this many years with the way he treats his customers. Our work was done by TwinPro Remodelers Inc. and we could not be happier with their work! They did an amazing job. James , shame on you! read more

I called to make an appointment. The person I spoke to said that he would be in my neighborhood the following Tuesday. We agreed to a specific time to meet me at my property, where I requested an estimate for the replacement of my driveway. I took off from work in order to have this appointment - no one ever showed up. When I called to ask why Scanapico Brothers did not keep their word and make the appointment, the person who answered changed his story and said he was not planning to be in my neighborhood on Tuesday, that he only planned to let me know on Tuesday when he would be in my neighborhood. He then told me that he would call me two days later on Thursday to arrange a new date. I was not holding my breath, and rightfully so - no one ever called back. Scanapico did an amazing job -- turned our backyard into a paradise! We could not be happier with the results. We recently had a large patio laid by the masonry and blacktop division of Scanapico Landscaping. I cant say enough wonderful things about their work. James Scanapico came to my house, measured driveway and gave my a very good price. I had called two other companies and their prices were much higher (almost $5,000.) for the same job. His crew came in October and did a great job digging up the old driveway, carting it away and putting down the stone base for the new driveway while also installing the new paver apron. He told me they would return in about 3-4 weeks to complete the asphalt job as the base had to settle and be packed down by our cars driving over the new base. Sure enough, the same crew of workers showed up, rolled over the base to really pack it down and then proceeded to put down the new asphalt. Although James said the new driveway would be about 2 - 2 1/2 inches thick, it was more like 3 inches as I could see how high the new driveway was on my belguim block border. What I liked about this company was that both James and his brother Troy were at the job both days to make sure all things were done correctly according to the contract. These guys really know what they are doing as all their workers were very hard working, conscientious and experienced. I think all this crew does is asphalt driveways so they are definitely experts. The most amazing thing was paying for the job. This company does not take a deposit or have you pay halfway through the job when the original driveway is dug up. No, James and Troy do not ask for payment until the job is done and meets your satisfaction. Now, who does that in this day and age? Two people already stopped by my house to check out my new driveway and asked who did it and could I give them the phone number of the company. I would definitely recommend this company. read more
