I found Chris through Groupon & purchased a 90min deep tissue massage. He was professional & very knowledgeable. He did a great job helping me take out the knots & tension in my neck & shoulders. He doesn't do full body, you choose upper or lower half & you let him know what to focus on. It was very painful, not your typical relaxing massage but it works & you feel much better afterwards. He rents a room at Miller Family Health & there's plenty of parking in the front. He is also a musician and composer so he's only there M, Th, F, Sat. I've been seeing Chris since 2019, I discovered him on Groupon. He's extremely good at what he does. I see him once a month for what I call "torture sessions". He is focused on getting into those tight muscles and fascia where everyone holds their stress so it can be pretty intense! But after your session, you can just feel the stress melt away. If you tell him a certain area is bothering you, he'll make sure to spend an extra few minutes working on that spot. I'll always recommend Chris to folks who need something different to help their stiff muscles, aches and pains. He'll play classical music during your appointment, during holidays he'll play Vince Guaraldi. He's a talented musician and composer as well and sometimes he'll be playing his keyboard while waiting for his next client. He's generally pretty quiet during sessions and is focused on your muscles. He will chat politely about some topics. It can take him a day or two to respond to texts. When it's not a work day, he won't respond until his next business day which is fine by me, folks should enjoy their day off. I'd say text is still probably the best way to get a hold of him. Don't take it personally if he doesn't respond right away. These days people just expect responses instantly, it's good to have a little patience. Chris is a one man show, with many clients and other responsibilities that come with running your own business, but once you've had one appointment you can schedule your next right after, he writes it on a planner and adds it to his phone calendar. Just a heads up, he rents a space at Miller Family Health in Arcadia and that building has a quite few doors which can be confusing, but it's the door all the way to the left that is the entrance, walk in and Chris' spot is down to the right by the chiropractor's space. read more

I had to go through quite a few chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncturists before finding someone like Chris. I originally stumbled on his services through finding the term Rolfing, but Chris will be quick to point out that he performs "structural integration," not Rolfing. From what I've read and what he's explained, Rolfing is a lot more linear in it's treatment progression, meaning that if you're going in with shoulder pain, the standard Rolfing treatment might not start in your problem area. Chris explained to me that that is why he finds structural integration to be more flexible-he targets the problem areas and also the surrounding tissues/fascia. Strict definitions aside, Chris delivers every single time. He is the only person I consider going to for routine tune-ups (after having visited all the specialists up above). Here's why: -Structural integration is NOT massage therapy. Chris is about 200-250lbs of muscle and he applies that strength to you for your whole session. But don't picture your standard 130-150lb masseuse using their pointy elbows to pulverize your knots, that's not what he does. Structural integration involves broad, DEEP sweeping motions to realign/reposition/relax the fascia surrounding muscles. I feel that with massage therapy, you get about 50-60% of real, applied force over your treatment period. With Chris, it's about 90%. And it's only 90% because I ask Chris a million questions about music composition (he's a flutist who is also a composer!) and musculature during my sessions. -I think for some, misalignments and impingements need realignment with a chiropractor, but for me personally, cracking my neck, back, etc, doesn't ever really solve *my* problems. If that type of care hasn't solved your problems either, consider Chris. -Acupuncture definitely still has its place when you have a knot that just can't be broken down, or if you have a tight muscle in a really unusual area. Lastly, some things to know: -Chris is technical about what he does, but he's generally pretty quiet. He's not a chatty Kathy, but I still bug him with a million questions anyway =p -He doesn't respond to texts that quickly. When it's not a work day, I'm not convinced he ever checks his texts. But when you meet him, you'll kind of get it. He's a pretty singular-focus kind of guy and composing is his main focus when he's not sweeping across your muscles. read more

Okay, let me start off by saying this guy has 5 stars for a reason. I was skeptical at first since I've been to multiple massage therapists who say they are deep tissue specialists but this guy is the real deal. He works with fascia (deeper tissue) and it's no joke. He has very strong hands... I thought he was using his elbow at one point. He wasn't. Christoph is a wonderful therapist. The deep tissue massage, "rolfing", is a unique deep intense massage. He is skilled at taking the muscles to the limits of stretch without surpassing pain tolerance. This is the only treatment (of many) that has helped my combined hip/sciatica pain. Did you know that about 1/4 of people who are diagnosed with MDD (major depressive disorder) could experience joint inflammation? I happen to fall into that category. I tried a little massage spot in the shopping mall but felt the massage was a too superficial for my personal needs. I needed more. If you're looking for a nice, soft, relaxing Swedish massage, this is **not** your guy. That would be a complete waste of his talent and knowledge. Got a Groupon just before lockdown (thankfully they kept moving the expiration forward for me!) but finally went in for a massage with Chris. I was looking for a body worker who was trained and not afraid to work on specific issues. Today I went in thinking I had a rib out of place. Turned out that's just how torqued my shoulder was! He focused on my upper body/neck, both face-up and side lying. There was lots of deep stretching and firm hand work. Chris is methodical, focused and intuitive. I felt safe, respected and like he actually listened to my concerns and addressed them properly. This massage was a workout for both of us, lol! This is for those who *really* want work done, not a "fluff and fold." I recommend at least 90 minutes. Understand that Chris' work is slow and intense. 90 minutes will not be full body. read more

I'm quite old (71), but I'm really invested in maintaining great muscle fitness -- routinely doing heavy lifting, aggressive cardio, stretching, jumping, and the like. Doing this, from time to time, you have small to medium injuries or pain. I used to have a bodywork massage person who would do work on me to correct the problems that came up. Long story short, my old bodyworks person retired, and I had no one. I tried for some time to find someone who would fix some muscle and tendon (deep tissue) pain in my right elbow joint and was struggling. I wasn't interested in "feel good" massage. I want massage that corrects and sustains. Finally, I found Chris, and texted him for an appointment. Well, I just had my first visit, and oh was it great! Chris was just what I was looking for. Someone who could free up painful areas with very deep massage. I'm not an expert in such things, but I walked away with the impression that he really knew what he was doing, and at the end, it was a great experience. While he worked, it sometimes hurt, but it was a "good hurt" and you could feel your muscles sorting out. I recommend his work. I'll be back. read more

I believe I met Chris at the end of 2018. Chris is a miracle worker, although it has taken this long to get almost 100% range of motion on my right side, and 90% range of motion on my left side. Given that I was run over by a Truck on a bike, also hit the center divider on the Freeway, and in a Separate accident, I had a Transverse whiplash. I was stuck with the residule effects from these 3 major traumas to my body, after the Chiropractor that I worked for, along with the Lawyer were long gone. So when I met Chris, I was very doubtful that I would get any difference in my range of motion in my Neck & Shoulders, other than the 20% range of motion that I had. Given my years of being a Massage Therapist & Sports Medicine Practitioner. I am able to look up at the Sky, versus the ground. My new Motto is "The Sky's the Limit!" Thanks Chris. I found Chris today on yelp because I've been having chronic pain and tension in my back and shoulders. He was so kind and squeezed me into his already long day for a 90 min session. For the last week I've had a tension headache that came and went. I could feel the muscle tension just turning my head. No amount of stretching at home was helping me. I walked out tonight feeling so much better. I can turn my head side to side. I even feel taller and my shoulders no longer feel like they are at my ears. If you're looking for Swedish massage this isn't it, this is deep tissue and at times you definitely feel it but after you can feel the difference as the tissue has been loosened and the knots worked out. I'm planning on getting a package to continue working on the progress Chris made in just one night. read more

This review is difficult for me. I purchased a Groupon as an introduction to this fine massage place. I read the reviews before I purchased it. The reviews seemed to indicate that this is not your typical massage, and it is NOT! However, it was oh so good! So, in my experience, massages are gentle to medium (at least for my tastes). I don't know if that is or is not the purpose of a massage; however, it is very comfortable and it feels good. You throw in the lights and the music and it makes for a very relaxing day. I love those types of massages. I also loved this massage; however, it is 100% completely different. This guy seems to know the body very well, almost as if from a medical perspective. You will feel muscles and areas being massaged that you didn't even know existed. He constantly checks in with you, and if it is too much, he will definitely release the pressure slightly -- so don't worry. So, was this comfortable? Not 100%. Did I feel more amazing after this massage than any other one ever? YES! Meeting him with the first time, he told me that in this 90 minutes he won't do the full body; however, he will do mid section and lower or the mid section and higher. I chose the higher option and it worked well. I definitely will have to go back to him now to get the lower half done. I have learned that not every massage should feel like you are in paradise during the massage. However, Chris made me feel great as I left. I would most definitely return to him; however, I will still go to my other places in addition to him -- so I can maintain that level of spa service that I am used to. I am a massage therapist and needed deep tissue work on me desperately. As I was in pain and it was starting to effect my own sessions. Limited movement on neck, headaches and my legs and arms felt tight and 'heavy'. The session with Chris had helped me tremendously. He knew how to go very deep using the Rolfing technique. And I didn't feel bruised after but relief. His strokes are smooth and he knew exactly what to work on. Pain sometimes is defered pain, meaning it's not stemming from the area that is in pain. He was very knowledgeable and I was so grateful to finally have found a therapist I could count on. And that in itself brings me much relief to know that. I cannot believe how intense and wonderful this massage was. I've had cervical fusion neck surgery followed by two steroid epidural shots, but I'm coming back here from now on. Chris is incredibly strong and intuitive... at times the pressure bordered on painful because I have about five hundred sore spots he patiently worked through. Found Chris on Groupon. He fit me in ASAP. I've been back once or twice since. Trust all of the reviews saying this is not a white robe, "spa day" sort of thing. I'm not an athlete but have an athletic/muscular body type and chronic pain in my neck and shoulders... I've found over the years that I need very deep tissue work to break up my knots. It's hard to find someone who is really skilled at this. Chris is great. He uses very intense, "hurts so good" pressure, and he is very precise. This is my second visit to Chris. Let me just say that if you are looking for a simple Swedish massage, this is not the place for you. As a former massuer myself I must say that Chris does Therapy and Body Work as opposed to massage. This guy knows his craft! I am your typical guy who works out and can't scratch his own back. My shoulders are incredibly tight but Chris knew how to get them free! I found out about this place via groupon and I was a little skeptical since there were only 2 reviews but I really needed a massage thus I came here. The place is quaint and quiet, and setting up an appt was pretty easy via yelp. Chris states that what he does is not technically considered a "massage" which I agree with. He told me that he works with the fascia which is a sheath that covers the muscles, and sometimes they get matted after much overuse or with incorrect postures (i.e. sitting a lot, working on the computer, etc) and he works to put the muscles back into place and release the fascia. He either does upper body or lower body. I opted for upper body since I carry a lot of stress in my shoulders. This is definitely not therapy for the weak. I would say I have decent tolerance for pain since I've done many massage, deep tissue, etc etc. But this was moderately-painful haha. He applies slow steady pressure and although it's not relaxing during this time, it definitely opened up my shoulders and my posture and I felt great after. He helps to increase your flexibility and loosen your shoulders and joints. If i ever feel really tight I will definitely come back! read more

I was diagnosed with frozen shoulder and got a good amount of mobility back through physical therapy and my chiropractor but just couldn't get full range of motion. Chris focused on my shoulder for a couple appointments and I'm fully functional in my arm again. Word of warning - this is not a relaxing, soft massage - this is an intense, beneficial deep massage. My whole family goes now. He's been an incredible resource for my kids and keeping their muscles relaxed and moving well with all their sports and he keeps my husband in good condition to keep golfing. I met Chris about 3 years ago and have been going to him occasionally when I feel tight on top. I do a lot of Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit around 5-6 times a week, sometimes 2 a days when competing. I can tell you I've been to others who have done work on me and not has came close to the amount of detail and effectiveness as Chris does on my body.
