I hired S&S to replace and install vents on my roof. The roofer from hell that I initially hired put big cheap plastic vents on my roof. S& S install of small metal vents was lacking. They were not properly installed, i paid someone to reinstall them and paid that guy $300. The initial install was approx $850. S&S refunded me the $300. I also had S&S to my house to help me figure out why my roof was emitting a noise 24x7. One worker came and actually pulled up a sheet of shingles. The roofer from hell did not secure the shingles properly and did not go to the edge of my soffit so i now have water in my bedroom and living room walls. I was told by Andrew of S&S that any noise would be a problem in my beams, not the roof. Thats a lie. I googled why my roof makes noise and apparently lack of or usi g short nails can cause the roof to emit noises. Bottom line? I may have to reroof my house. The roofer from hell got me for $18k. Well folks S&S hired the roofer from hell. Their person who answers the phone told me Ite could be constrrued as me harassing the roofer by calling his placeq of work. I had to remind her, IM YOUR CUSTOMER!! BOTTOM LINE . Do not let their roofer who has several names get on your roof. He was Christian Esteban when he took 3 months to roof my house. She treated me in a manner I have ever experienced. I had been in business for over 30 years and had never felt such disrespect. My husband andI really respected you and chose you. We had our roof shingled by S&S Roofing several years ago and were very happy with Shane and his crew. Their service was fast and high-quality. It was expensive because of the many cut-outs in our roof, but well worth it! I was very impressed with the quality and the fact that they installed metal flashing over exposed fascia. The only downside were some cracks in our driveway due to the weight of the truck delivering the shingles. If I had known, I would've had the truck stay on the street and drop the shingles at the end of the driveway. I highly recommend their services! read more

I had S&S do the new roof on my home about 2 years ago and I thought they did a fine job, do when I built a carport I naturally decided to use them again. This time around has been a different story. From the date I gave them the down payment to the day of installation has been about 3 months. I understand given COVID, schedules slide. My biggest complaint is the lack of communication. Time and time again I was the one who had to call to find out where we stood schedule-wise. Since I'm going with a metal roof, this is very spendy project and was told the metal had to be manufactured in Tukwila with a 4-6 week lead time. Well, the 6 weeks came and went. I had to call several times just to get a rough idea of where we were and when it looked like we'd get the metal. After 10 weeks, when I called I was told the metal was finally ready. Great! We started in October and now it's near the end of December. Winter is now upon us and we got a dusting of snow last night, and I'm getting plenty antsy so let's get this train movin! I asked them to have the delivery driver of the metal roofing material give me a call once he left the shop. Well, good thing I was home because I didn't get the call I was told I would get. Same deal with the installation crew. I asked the scheduler at S&S to have the crew give me a call when they were leaving the shop. 9:30 am here they show up with no call. Good thing I was home. For amount of money I'm spending, I expect better customer service (communication-wise). Prior to this experience I praised S&S every chance I got. I'm not so sure I'll be doing that in the future. read more

I chose to use S&S based on work I have seen them do around my community. The person creating the estimate seemed very knowledgeable and was friendly and approachable. He asked questions about the roof, to which I answered honestly. I should have had the roof replaced years before. It was soft in many places and covered with a very thick layer of moss. The estimator did not go onto the roof, but he seemed like an expert so I did not question it. I honestly should have. Typically you may have to pay 15-20% more than the roofing estimate. my final invoice was 45% over estimate. Disappointing to say the least. I was unable to pay the extra $8,000 right away, but knowing the estimator did not do a thorough job, they gave me some time. Next time I'll insist the estimator do an actual roof inspection. The actual job was done well, so I'm very happy with the end product. read more

I used S&S roofing (aka ADR Roofing & Construction) to do our home. I received several bids and proposals from some other fine roofing companies but chose Shane and his company over the rest. Shane not only took the time to explain every detail of the job, but also to actually sell it to me. His crew spent 3 days doing a complete tear off (including all plywood) and replacing it with a beautiful new Pabco roof. When he came out to have me sign the agreement we walked around the house one more time and he insisted that he also replace all of the old warped fascia on his dime because he couldn't stand the idea of a beautiful new roof with nasty old fascia. My neighbor two doors down came up and asked for a quote on his roof as well, turns it was done by ADR 25 years ago (Shane's fathers business). I had a tear off and a standard asphalt 30 year shingle roof installed two years ago. They fixed a lot of poor workmanship issues with the original roof and got it installed in just under four days. My roof has a number of rooflines making it more complicated than most roof installs. They also installed a Velux Sun Tunnel I had purchased. All of it for a great price. Let me start this by saying, "If you use S&S Roofing, INSPECT their work. Let me repeat: INSPECT THEIR WORK! I signed a contract with S&S in 2018 to have my roof replaced (complete tear off and re-shingled). 2-3 day job right? Normally. However, I inspected the work (as I am a military guy and we try to trust but verify), as I would anyone that does a job for me. The contract stated 6 additional vents to be added. They weren't. The roof anchors had the old boots (shrouding) around them. They put new shrouding around the other vents, why skip these. Did not make it look good. In the contract, it states that they may use your outside outlets to power some of their equipment. No problem. They broke the covers off the outlets. And then they damaged the interior ceiling by dropping something while replacing some of the plywood sheeting. They of course stated that they inspected the roof after the job was supposedly completed and found everything to be satisfactory. Wrong answer! I took several pictures and sent them to the office person I was corresponding with and asked that these items be solved. Of course I understand that things get missed or broken during work, we are human after all. So I called them. Let them know my concerns and they responded. They sent someone over to see what I was talking about. They agreed with my assessment. After several issues and weeks of the office person saying the work is complete and me telling her it isn't. Back and forth talking to several different people. Five weeks later. Several emails and phone calls, the job is finally complete. Now everyone has busy lives and we cannot all drop what we are doing to satisfy people immediately. But, I did not pay them right away and the phone calls and emails started immediately wanting payment. 3 or more emails AND phone calls a week from S&S. Excessive? Yes. I call and make arrangements with one of the owners, or so she says. Not the owner, wife of the owner. I informed her that I would be there Friday the 31st of August before close of business. She states that would be fine. I show up at 3:20 pm. CLOSED. They are supposed to be open until 4pm. Now I have had it. I call immediately while standing at their front door and tell them that their communication is terrible. I call the next week and eventually get to talk to the owner (real owner), Shane. I tell Shane that I have had it with their crappy communication issues and the fact that it took five weeks to finish the job. Am I the only one of the several hundred roofs that they have done this year that had this many issues? What are the odds? I also inform him that the office person isn't telling whomever, what the customer issues are and getting back to the customer in a timely manner. I had 2 phone calls from two people who state they are co-owners of the business and find out they are not. The problem with closing the business when I have someone telling me they will be there. COMMUNICATION is key in business. Shane apologizes. So I ask Shane. "What is the #1 goal of S&S Roofing?" Shane states that it is to complete 400 roofs this summer. If you go to the S&S Roofing website, it clearly states: The #1 goal of S&S Roofing is Customer Service. The Owner does not even know his own companies goal. What does this tell you? I informed Shane that that they need to on their communication. And then I told him what I would tell my people in the Navy. Communication will save your ass 99% of the time. At this point Shane thinks I am cussing at him and then informs me that the conversation is being recorded. Two things about Shane stating he was recording the phone conversation: #1 - you must (because it is the law) inform the person(s) in the very beginning of the phone conversation, that it is being recorded. #2 - I think he was lying to me about recording the conversation. By this time, I have Shane worked up and he eventually cusses as well. Do I take offense, no, Navy guy remember, old hat to me. Then he goes into a sad story about getting the business from his father when he passed away. Business tip Shane: No one wants to hear your Boohoo stories. Just do the job right the first time. Of course, I don't tell him this. I'm not an Ogre. After a long 20 minute or so phone call, he asks what I want to happen. Discount Shane, I want a discount. I throw a figure at him, he agrees. Probably should have went lower, but what the heck. In conclusion: Lack of communication is going to kill this business unless they vastly improve. Stop harassing the customer. Inspect S&S Roofing's work. Don't go into business with dishonest people. If I were you, I would look elsewhere for my roofing needs. read more

Called with an emergency water leakage in the house. 24 hours went by and no one responded. Called back the next day to find out they had come out to the house, but didn't tell me, nor did they call back with their assessment. Ultimately, they chose not to work on the roof because the man was 62 years old and unwilling to do work on roofs with steep pitches. And we were unceremoniously dropped as a client because our roof wasn't suitable to them. In the meantime, we wasted two days trying to get someone to repair an emergency leak that was letting water into our house. Why are these people in the roofing business if they only work on certain roofs? My advice is to check out another roofer. read more

Requested an estimate, office manager set a date and time someone would be out. No one showed. Called office to tell them no one showed. They said they would call me back to tell me when someone can show. No call back. Later on guy called and said he did roof inspect and gave me verbal estimate, I asked that the estimates to be emailed, he agreed and said he would have office do it. No estimates were emailed. I emailed office asking if the guy gave them estimates to email me, they said no and told me they would contact him to email me. 4 days later and still no estimate. The other reasons are for his promptness in coming to our house to take care of roof leaks; not selling us a new roof when we only needed repairs, and for having such a great crew of workers. When we finally needed a new roof, he was very detailed in choices, products, prices, and warranties. He was never a high pressure person, just very factual and business-like, and he spent a lot of time with us to help us make out choice. Deeply disappointed. After receiving a couple of recommendations to use S&S to repair the flashing at the top of my skywall, I contacted them. They promptly came out, looked at the problem, and said I would receive a quote. That was two months ago. They ghosted me; no communication at all after coming out. No quote. Nothing. You get a lot of garbage putting on a roof. The crew did their best in stormy weather to pick everything up. The workmanship is fantastic. The guys like their job and it shows.
