Kids and I had a blast at BRKTHROUGH when we visited KC. Our group was me and my two sons (14,…read more12). At BRKTHROUGH, you compete in challenge rooms (there are 40 of them, although a couple were unavailable during our visit) - they last a minute or longer, and are categorized as Physical (requiring speed, agility, coordination, etc), Mental (brainpower, trivia, memory, and puzzle-solving), or Skill (precision, dexterity, patience). The descriptors above came from the BRKTHROUGH website, but I can confirm that they are descriptive of the challenges. The room type/difficulty is shown on a triangle, so they are often a combination of two items (for example, mostly physical with some skill-based components). Every room is scored based on your completion (or lack, thereof) out of 100 points. You can redo rooms as often as you like, keeping the highest score. Your team has an RFID wristband to enter the rooms. Your goal is to earn as many points as you can during the time period you paid for (we did 2 hours). Not only do you try to get your best score, there is a leaderboard to show how you are doing against the other teams in the building. You can earn a prize if you obtain a certain minimum score, or win against the other groups. Other than the boys arguing over strategies, we had a good time. Even with young kids, we were able to complete a lot of the rooms. There are plenty of rooms that could be completed by those with physical limitations, but obviously not all of them. We had a good time and the time flew by. There is also a bar and restaurant and a few games to play after your time is up. We had a blast and would definitely return again! , with live leaderboards tracking everyone in the building. You can read more about the activities or book your session on

It was the perfect mix of competitive and hilarious, and it truly felt like we were on a real game show set. Our host Shawn and producer Blake were incredible. They kept the energy high the entire time, explained everything clearly, and made sure everyone felt comfortable jumping in. Even people in our group who had never really watched the classic shows were able to follow along and fully participate. It was organized, engaging, and just such a unique way to celebrate. We all left saying how much fun we had. I would absolutely book again and would love to try their Prime Time Showdowns next. Highly recommend for birthdays, group outings, or just a night out with friends.

The hosts were hilarious, engaging, and kept everyone involved the entire time. The games themselves were the perfect mix of friendly competition, teamwork, and laugh‑out‑loud chaos. The setup is super professional, the arenas are bright and immersive, and you can tell they've really thought through every detail to make it fun for all ages. It's truly one of the most unique things to do in the KC area -- great for families, friends, team‑building, or celebrations. We left already talking about when we're coming back. If you're looking for something memorable and different, this is 100% the place to go!

I went to a Yelp Elite event at Fowling Warehouse in Kansas City on Cinco de Mayo, and I'm really…read moreglad I got to experience it. For the event, food was catered in with a nacho bar from Jose Pepper's, and we were given a complimentary cocktail along with the chance to play a game of fowling. Fowling is basically bowling with a football, but instead of a regular football, we used more of a Nerf-style, squeezy football. It sounds simple until you actually try it. Even when your aim feels spot on, the ball can bounce, shift, and completely miss the target. It was a lot of fun and honestly a better workout than I expected. I was surprised my arm was not sore afterward because there is definitely some movement involved. The space is great for groups, parties, team building, and people who enjoy active social games. The staff and setup made the event feel easy and welcoming, and I had a wonderful time. That said, I'll be honest: this is not really my personal bag. I could definitely see myself coming back for a kid, pre-teen, or teenager's birthday party, or maybe enjoying it more if there were an outdoor option where I could get a little sunshine while playing. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I'm glad I went. I had fun, I tried something new, and now I can officially say I've been fowling. Would I need to do it again in life? Honestly, probably not. But would I recommend it for the right group or occasion? Absolutely.

It's a lot harder than it looks, even for people who are good at throwing a football! Last time I went there was a sign on the door that outside good and drinks weren't allowed. I think when they first opened, you could bring in food so kinda sucks that the rule has changed.

I'm glad we did - it was a fun, casual, easy outing to celebrate the holiday. The reason for the average review is mostly for the price. We paid $112 for 4 people for an hour and a half, which feels steep to me - this is definitely not something I'd want to pay for outside of a special occasion. Additionally, they request tips for your coach/server on not just your food/drink bill - but on the bill for the entire experience, making your tip at least $25 on top of your total. If you order drinks, you're not escaping here for under $200. I want our server to be fairly tipped, but tipping that much more for what was essentially a 5-minute how-to at the beginning of our experience feels a little rich. All that said, our coach was very friendly. The facility is well-maintained and clean. I do like the layout, with tables at the end of each lane where you can sit with your party. They have a nice booklet of suggested games to try - which really help give some structure to what would otherwise be an hour and a half of throwing an axe. It is also nice that they still allow you up to 3 alcoholic beverages while throwing weapons - haha. The 1.5 hour session is the perfect amount of time - it allowed just to play 2 full games, and throw around for a while. In the last 15 minutes or so, we were feeling like we definitely had our fill. Axe-throwing is really something you only need to do once, or maybe every couple of years, but we had a good time.

I've been to Creative Culture twice now, and loved it both times!…read more The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and answer questions clearly so there's no confusion about what to do or where to go. They also keep the space clean and organized, which is no easy feat given the nature of the business! The selection of crafts, while a bit pricey, is excellent. I've found that if it's in budget (you can find info on pricing on their website), you can find something fun for just about anyone. And regarding the price points, to me it does make sense given the cost of materials and labor involved. Whenever I go, I always leave room in my budget to add the suggested tip for the employees since they do such a great job and deserve to be paid well for it. Their specialty shakes are also AMAZING! Seriously, the price point they're at makes sense considering all of the extra goodies that are piled on top of the shake itself, and they're delicious! Just be sure to grab a napkin or two if you order one since it can get a bit messy. My one complaint, if I can even call it that, is that when it's especially busy it can be a bit cramped trying to walk around between the tables. That said, it's not bad enough for me to dock them a star since they use and manage their space well, and when I've been there people were generally conscientious of their surroundings which in turn reduced potential problems. All in all, Creative Culture is a bit pricey but very fun and well run! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a unique place to go for a celebration, special occasion, or even just because. I can't wait to go again someday!

There was a 2-3 week wait for our clay painting pieces to get finished to pick up, but that's reasonable. Highly recommend this as a cute date or activity spot! It does get a little busy, and you may be sitting right next to people you don't know. But it didn't feel too cramped or crowded still, and it's perfect for chatting if you're up for it! And to add since this is something I often look up as well. LGBT friendly, we felt safe and comfortable.
