The Paper Source has paper and a whole lot more: cards, small gifts and scratch-booking supplies…read more It was at this Paper Source that discovered that making paper crafts is an expensive and time-consuming endeavor. I set out to make a custom Christmas card for my sweetie but had to buy whole packs of supplies to do so. For example, I had to get a package of envelopes when I only needed one. I learned my lesson and now buy 10 already made, unique greeting cards for the price of the heartfelt one I made. My creative side sighs in resignation to my bank account. It's for those greeting cards that I love going to the Paper Source. I don't go there for anything else and the paper crafting supplies no longer tempt my narrowly focused gaze. The last time I went in, I was greeted by two associates. I asked if they had a honey badger birthday card. "Yes we do!" Was the prompt reply. She quickly walked directly to the card on the shelf and handed it to me. I was delighted.

In addition to cards, they have gifts, art supplies, and anything you'd need to wrap a beautiful gift. There are rolls of wrapping paper but also individual sheets of wrapping. They have stuffed animals, books, board games--the name of the store really doesn't do it justice any longer, because it's so much more. This stop was to wander with my friend after lunch, and hadn't planned on buying anything. However, I did find a book called The Skeleton and the Cat on display that we picked up and it was a great purchase, a delightful story to enjoy with my little one. Given its location in Oak Park, parking is probably tricky at times. It's only a few blocks from the train station, though. And there's street parking and a few lots around. But if you need a card or are looking for a fun gift, you may find it here.

Yes, they have good prices and some are as little as 49 cents, but there's not a huge variety to choose from. Especially their Spanish selection is very limited. I was trying to find a birthday card in Spanish for a (male) family friend but they only had like 2 to choose from. Oh well, it's America...maybe they should learn English. Also, their gift bags are not too diverse in patterns and styles; some are kind of boring or mostly for children. I suggest going to Walgreen's for cards (their Hallmark section is awesome!).

Just before I was about to sit down, cry my eyes out, and then create something really ghetto-looking with Microsoft Word, I remembered that I had recently met this amazing girl named Megan Nutley. This was relevant since Megan designs custom wedding invites (she did some AWESOME Chicago skyline motif invitations for my brother's wedding) and all that goes along with them. I suddenly realized: I can call Megan! So I did, and since she is sweet, she agreed to help me at the last minute. I sent her a sample of my wedding invite, told her what I was envisioning, and voila! She basically read my mind and produced exactly what I wanted. And I was ecstatic and relieved and all of that good stuff. The quality was fantastic, and since she was local, I was able to just stop by, giver her a check, and pick my stuff up from her studio/apartment. Besides invites, she also designs greeting cards and personalized stationery, and you can find her stuff at several places around town, on her website, and of course, on etsy.com. Check her out!

I bought three items on sale, and had to take the sales person to show the sale price as they were coming up full price at the register. But the Office Max has very limited help, maybe 4 or 5 and just two cashiers, but I was lucky I got there at 10:am and no one was in the store, just two picking up stationary. I was in and out within 15mins. Overall, I had a good experience, so this store is deserved 4 stars from me. Thanks, guys!

Unfortunately, high-end paper and stationery retail brick and mortar companies are becoming harder and harder to find in the 2020 digital realm. My craft supply of wrapping paper in flat sheets is near diminished and I needed to cover an existing box similar to making a book cover. I like Paper Source as they also sell traditional blank folded cards in A2, A6 and A7 sizes where I can create my own greeting cards. I finally found all specifications of my desire as I was seeking handmade, flat wrap sheet (not roll), large size, and red floral of a magenta background. Plum Blossom Handmade Paper $10.16 size: 19 inches X 25 inches It was on sale for $10.16 rather than the usual online price of $11.95, wooho! The sale price lured my interest more to be a victim similar to " 'Will you walk into my parlour?' said the Spider to Fly by Mary Howitt. My order was shipped within one day upon ordering from their corporate website. It arrived safely in a cardboard mailing tube rolled and minimal dents on the ends during transit en route to my destination which is expected, but unfortunate. This review is based on my experience with their website navigation, ordering, and order fulfillment. Ordering from Paper Source's web site, unlike most e-commerce sites, do not require a mandatory account to be created as I did not have to create a log-in username and password. Paper Source HQ is located in Forest Hill, IL. A week later, I wanted to re-order the same product and the price was revert back to the original $11.95 which I suspect price gouging is involved.
