Great class, awesome cycle instructor. Cool rooftop workout spot that is very nice, clean, open and tranquil. They offer free first time shoe and heart rate monitor rentals. There's a storage area right next to the cycle room for your personal belongings. The music was nice and varied and instructor very motivating. They also offer ear plugs which I highly recommend. I once took a class here... it was good but not as great as others. They got rid of a lot of great instructors. However, I will never go back because of a terribly disheartening racist Instagram post from their account. If you have morals and ethics, don't give them any of your business. This place is so great! The price is unmatched for any spin class and there are always great deals as well. It is a great place to go with friends and the environment is really social compared to other spin classes - everyone talks to each other and to the instructor and we've all made friends with new people which is something I've missed so much during the pandemic. Also love being able to track my heart rate during a workout because it makes you push yourself harder than any regular class you would take. And can't not mention the super easy free parking!!! read more

Great place to get your spin on. This is my sister's spin studio. She wanted me to experience a variety of spin classes while I was in LA, so we came here and also did Soul Cycle. Therefore, I will compare the two. Both are amazing, but they stand out in their own way. Soul Cycle has more of a club atmosphere. They turn off the lights and the instructor was often off his bike dancing and screaming YYYAASSS GIRL! You know that emoji with the hearts for the eyes? That was me the entire class. I love clubs, I love dancing, I was essentially at a club biking my little heart out and bobbing to the beat. At Ryde4, the lights don't go out. It was a much smaller room (I think 25 bikes total) and you are on the rooftop so the light shines in. The instructor didn't get off the bike to dance, but he was still incredibly upbeat and the music was popping. We took a class with Michael and the time just flew by! We also took a class with someone who I think is a newer instructor. It was still good, but with her, the class didn't go by as quickly. If you become a regular, you'll learn which instructors you love. My sister rearranges her schedule so she can take Michael's class. (He's about to do a 90s themed class and I'm majorly jealous I won't be there). Soul Cycle has a bunch of hair products that you can use. I am such a fan of dry shampoo, but I didn't bring any since I was traveling. Soul Cycle stole my heart by providing it in the locker room! The Soul Cycle in Culver City also had USB chargers in the lockers! 100% battery life by the time class is over. So important, so you never miss taking an Instagram shot! Ryde4 doesn't have additional hair products other than shampoo and conditioner (you can use Burn Fitness' locker room). They do provide the bare essentials, like disposable razors and tampons (I should specify this is LA bare essentials because my gym in St. Petersburg doesn't provide anything!). Ryde4 is less bougie than Soul Cycle, but you can get a monthly membership at Ryde4. Paying per class for Soul Cycle adds up. What Ryde4 lacks isn't great enough to say do Soul Cycle instead. If I lived in LA, I would probably belong to Ryde4 and throw in a Soul Cycle class here and there when I need to get my groove on. read more

Loved the energy of this place and had the best instructor, Alister. It felt more like teamwork rather than a competition. Using the heart rate monitors is the way to go! The instructor kept us hype with good music and having us work together to achieve the goals. I came out of the class feeling accomplished and energized and so did my boyfriend. We both loved it! Even the others in the class were friendly and excited to get a great workout. For sure coming back! Parking is convenient in the lot that is right behind it on 4th street. Two hours for free. The facility isn't the most modern and it is located on the roof. The bikes aren't the newest either. Who cares when you are around great people and getting an amazing workout! read more

This spin studio is ok but not great. I came here for a 60 min class taught by Rush. 1. It's in an enclosed room on a rooftop. It was thankfully a relatively cool day when I went for my spin class, so we just worked out with the windows and doors open and the fans running but I sincerely hope that the studio has A/C for insanely hot days. 2. There's no upper body weight component. 3. Instruction was not very good - basic positions were never explained to newbies, proper alignment and posture were not stressed at all, and countdowns were off. 4. The bike did not feel very secure and I felt a couple times like I might fall off. 5. It's bright inside so everyone can see you. Nobody looks good when they're sweating their face off and I didn't like this aspect of it. I still got a good workout because I do a lot of spin (usually at Flywheel, which is my jam) so I have the basics down but I don't think I'll be coming back here. read more

Let me start by saying I am a huge spin fan and have tried pretty much every studio on the westside. I've been spinning at this studio for a few months now so I've tried most of the instructors. Shay and Angelica are definitely my favorite instructors. Angelica has such a great attitude and so much energy - definitely very motivational. Shay is a natural at putting together a good mix of songs where you enjoy yourself while doing it but are also getting a killer workout. I've done Adi's classes quite a bit as well but she can be a little abrasive for my liking - one time, while the front desk staff was hurrying to check everyone in, she came out and yelled at everyone to hurry up and get into class ASAP because she was not going to wait to start...I felt this was a bit much considering it was Ryde4 staff that was causing the delay. That being said, she also provides you with a great workout! The primary motivator that kept bringing me back to this studio is the price. They seem to always have deals going on so compared to other studios in LA, Ryde4 has the BEST deals BY FAR. If you don't like spending $30 a spin class, this is your place. Also, the location is incredible! Rooftop on third street promenade with a (semi) view of the ocean. I'll admit it took a little getting used to spinning in such a bright, open room because most studios feature enclosed, dark rooms with lighting effects. Now I love breathing in fresh ocean air while spinning. Parking is super convenient since Santa Monica has so many garages in the area and conveniently, there is a garage within spitting distance of the studio. My number one complaint with this place is their recent (and by recent, I mean since January) adoption of heart rate monitors. When I first started coming here, there were no physical monitors you were required to wear on your body. Rather, you paced yourself with the music (like many spin classes) as well as the monitor on your bike. Then, they got this new heart rate monitor system which entails you wearing a wristband on your forearm and your stats (heart rate, calories burned, etc.) are broadcasted on three TV screens around the room. I hate wearing the monitors because I personally find them uncomfortable and inaccurate. Being an avid runner/spinner/cardio lover, my heart rate is naturally lower while spinning so I don't feel this is a good measure of my workout. I can be sweating and super out of breath, but my heart rate is not in the peak "red zone." While I know many studios have similar set ups, these other studios always give you the option of not turning on/using whatever monitoring device and not broadcasting your name on the screen if you so choose. NOT at Ryde4! I requested to not wear the monitor one time and was told it was MANDATORY and that I did not have a choice. However, this same less-than-polite employee told me I could change what my name appears as on the screen. Overall, Ryde4 gives you a good workout at a great price. If you like spin and don't mind wearing a monitor, I say give it a try! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this amazing cycling studio! Not only is it not stuffy and hot like most studios (it is located on a beautiful rooftop with open windows and fresh air) it is low-key, not overly crowded, and no one there has a snobby attitude or superiority complex. My favorite class and instructor is Adi. She plays an awesome mix of pop/dance mash-ups and hip hop songs that keep me motivated and having fun. I could not recommend this more! read more

Located on the roof of Burn Fitness on the Promenade, the small, intimate studio of RYDE4 will definitely get you sweating and improving yourself. I rode with Shay for RYDE60 Strength, which I liked because it incorporated a solid amount of upper body weight work in addition to standard spin stuff. Sound system is solid as well, which is one of the most important things in a studio for me. My only complaint would be that the room can get quite warm and steamy on hot, clear days, but if you're used to hot yoga this might not bother you. read more

My bf and I came here for a class on a Saturday morning and it was pretty good. Definitely not one of the nicer cycle studios around here, but you can get a good workout and sweat for a cheaper price than any of the others. We took the strength class which incorporated weights which I recommend if you're hoping for more than cardio. read more

I was introduced to this place through ClassPass. I'm so glad I was. I normally go to Mary's class in the morning around 7:15 AM. You can park in the parking garage near the AMC seven that's on the corner of Arizona and second Street. The first 90 minutes of parking is free. Mary's really inspirational and has awesome music and really knows how to pump you up. The coolest part about the spin class versus other spin classes is that it's on a rooftop. The gym is next to the Adidas store on the promenade. You have to go up two flights of stairs to the rooftop to get to the class. Shoe rental is free too! You can also use the facilities of the gym after. You can go down to the gym and shower off in the really nice bathrooms. Update: I think shoe rental is now $2 read more

I took their 6:30pm class through classpass. The studio is at the top of the roof above Burn Fitness. The instructor was decent (although the class was kind of boring, i.e repetitive "zone rides") but the major improvement that is needed is their equipment. They need to replace the spin bikes. They are old, rickety and filthy compared to the other spin bikes in the area (equinox, cycle house, soul cycle) and the first heart tracking monitor they gave me didnt work. read more

I've been going to burn for about 8 months now, so I've seen the cycling program evolve. They just recently upped the ante with a couple of changes- all classes are performed with dim lights (or dark), the instructors use mics, and you reserve your seat ahead of time. The bikes are brand new and also have RPM's displaying so staying on pace is easy! Its not as expensive as a soul cycle per say, since they dont give riders gum and have their own clothes line, but not every cyclist needs those things :) Other things- All the bikes require clip on shoes, but you can rent them onsite for $2. If you reserve your bike online, you can pick the seat you want. If your local, ride a bike or walk, its easier then the parking structure. If your a first timer, your first ride is free, which alot of my friends have taken advantage of. Only downside- only one class on Saturday and one on Sunday, so weekend cycling is limited. read more

Not really a cult follower of cycle classes (the thought of whooping and yelling while dripping sweat to hard house music scares me) but I've been trying not to die by 30, and do some exercising. Came to Ryde4 via Classpass and was very surprised. Up through the gym in the 3rd Street Promenade (right past the Doc Martens store) - you head up to the roof to a small box filled with cycles. Class was pretty good - nice mix of music, a forgiving instructor (also an instructor who is actively doing the class and has arms that make you never want to eat carbs again), and all in all a very sweaty but cathartic class. Now if you want the crazy West Hollywood, laser lights, state of the art soundsystem, etc etc - not your place (but I enjoy that). No frills. Instructor is going HAM during this class, you can tell she really enjoys it. A tough 45 mins but well worth it - especially as you jump out of the hot box and onto the roof to let the air cool you off. Shower amenities are pretty good as well. If you're like me and you can't run home to shower post class, this locker room is pretty dope. Five showers, not overcrowded, freshly washed towels - a few hair dryers. No real excuse for me not to come back (except for the fact that I'm lazy AF). read more

I've been working out at Burn Fitness (Easton Gym before) for a few years now and never once tried a Spin Class. But Judi, my abs workout teacher convinced me to try in order to round out my running training. The first class nearly killed me but I make it a priority that I go to spin at Ryde 4 every week. Mary was awesome, helping me out with setting up the bike and letting me know where to get the shoes etc. Prices are cheaper than the competitors and it's on a roof with views of the Promenade and Santa Monica. Ryde4 is amazing. This is the first time in a LONG time I've been excited to regularly get up and work out. The teachers are all great and the fact that their method is backed by science makes me feel like I'm in good hands. The classes are reasonably sized and you wear heart rate monitors to tailor the workout to your specific body, which was super important to me. I've been to a bunch of spin classes where I either feel under or over challenged. All of the instructors have amazing energy, and the music is great. Also, it's not deafening, although they do offer earplugs for those who would like them. I highly highly recommend it! read more

I love this studio! I had been trying different places and this was among the first I came across and I loved it. Especially love Taylor's classes, GREAT music and super fun! Every class goes by so quickly and works you incredibly hard. Worth a 6 AM wake up call for sure! And much more affordable than other studios. Update: I've been going here for months now and love it even more! So affordable, fun, and I sincerely enjoy all the instructors I've taken. Ryde4 is an incredible workout! I have taken all varieties of Ryde4 classes with multiple instructors and each have been fantastic. I'm relatively new to cycling and am always relieved when the instructors help me get my feet in and out of the pedals! Hey, it can be ticky. Ryde4 recently added heart rate monitors that project your calories burned and zone you're currently in up to a TV -- I've found this to be super motivating! It's amazing how much work your body can do in 45 minutes to an hour. After a Ryde4 class you continue to feel the burn all day long and your heart and lungs feel AMAZING. Also a HUGE bonus -- everyone who attends is extremely chill and friendly, which I'll be honest, is not always common for a cycling gym in LA! Overall, wonderful! read more

I used to have a Burn Fitness gym membership (3 years ago) until I moved to the south bay and had to start working out elsewhere. However, I still do swing in for a Classpass every now and then. This is one of my favorite gyms in the LA area due to their spin studio (called RYDE4) on the roof. Oh, and that's mostly because of Angelica (one of the trainers/spin instructors). Her class is always challenging (I'm literally dripping in sweat by the end) and her music is on POINT! I also love the fact that you're given a heart rate monitor at no extra cost in order to challenge yourself to keep your heart rate up and burning through the entire class. I come to the 6:00AM classes and parking isn't a problem, but if you're coming midday or on a weekend, make sure you have ample time to get into the parking structure because Santa Monica parking is the pits. read more

The new "management" of Ryde4 is HORRIBLE! I have been coming for years and used to LOVE it! Alllll the good instructors leave or are fired! Their new teachers they have added are honestly awful. It is so horrible to see how they treat their amazing instructors and that they are willing to lose instructors with a huge following. Tom and the Burn team need to seriously evaluate their decisions regarding who manages Ryde4. Today alone I know of at least 20-30 people that will not be returning. Angelica is awesome in the mornings- but I'm so disappointed that Mary and Michael are gone. My favorite instructor there was let go because management there didn't approve of his arm series for his class, despite the fact that his class went on waitlist frequently. I signed up for a class with my girlfriend, because she belongs to ClassPass, and it was great! It was a Sunday RYDE60 Strength class with Michael and it was intense! I really enjoyed it and 60 minutes on the bike, with weights and blasting EDM music was a really awesome workout! I will definitely be coming back here again soon! read more

I used to love Ryde but now having lost two of my favorite instructors will definitely be returning far less. Not everyone enjoys having all rides be all about the "zones." It was nice to have some variety, and enjoyable fun classes with instructors who actually knew what they were doing with a great following. Perfect intense spin class. I regularly take classes at cycle house and I would rate this right on par- but the vibe had some key differences (not a dark room w club lights.... People can see you. Might be distracting or your fave if you loooove the semi-privacy of the dark cycle house or soul cycle studios) -great music, choreography to the music to keep things interesting and keep your muscles guessing - great instructor (Mary?) who pumped you up while she was dancing around the room, giving you imagery to motivate you, encouraging you and giving you that therapeutic pump talk that sets a STELLAR spin class apart from a "good" one - intense strength segments (my arms were dying and I consider myself pretty strong... At least compared to all the chicks usually in my barre classes) -sunset on a rooftop in SM during a workout just adds to the intensity -free parking in any of the promenade lots for 90 mins Only negative was the room seemed a little sweaty and they didn't ask you to wipe off your bikes at the end- i suggest Ryde 4 provides some wipes to keep people happy and keep things smelling fresh. I recently took my first Ryde4 class with Angelica. If there's an instructor out there who'd motivate anyone to get up for a 6:15am ride, she is it! Her energy is infectious, and she plays great music to get the class pumped and moving. It's also a nice touch that the studio is on a rooftop. But it was cool the day I went, so the doors were closed and it became warm incredibly fast in the small room. Still an overall great cycling experience - - I'd recommend giving it a shot! read more

I used to consider ryde4 as one of the best spinning studios in santa monica. The diverse classes made me want to go every day. Different types of coaches made spinning less monotonous. But apparently they've been forcing coaches to change the way they teach to turn all classes into just power rides, which in turn made them lose their best instructors.
