For a very reasonable price you can get some very decent spin classes on a regular basis. About 12 years ago in college I took my first spin class and soon washed out of spin in general. Lately at the tender and fat old age of 33 I've been wanting to get back into fitness and decided to give Ryde4 a try. The intimate studio is dark during the workout with a series of colorful lights that change with the music (?). The music is good. Depending on the instructor that you sign up with, you will be receiving a different type of spin workout. Jennylyn Jankesh gave me the workout of a lifetime last night. I've had one other instructor and she was gentler in her approach but just as effective. I don't know what other kind of spin classes are out there or if they were "better" at some point here, but this is a great studio for the price and you definitely get that sweaty spin workout that you came for. Mary at Ryde 4 is the best! I drive from Studio City just to ride with Mary. If you want a spin class with great energy, music and attention to form look no further. I've taken spin classes all over LA and Ryde 4 hands down has the best bikes, very comfortable and supportive. I love Ryde4. It's LA's best kept secret. All of the instructors are fantastic and unique. Every workout is like a hard bike ride, but accessible to all levels. The spinning studio is excellent. There are just the right amount of bikes to create a group ride atmosphere. The indoor studio is on the rooftop, so you get an ocean breeze and view of the ocean before and after class. Parking is free for 90 minutes and is right across the way from the gym. I have taken all of the instructors' classes and am energized and happy after every workout. The classes are high energy spin classes, but the positive energy of the instructors and friendly gym staff is what makes Ryde4 special. Plus, the bikes are very solid and well maintained. read more

This is hands down the best cycling studio I have ever been to. The sound system is amazing and all of the instructors are great!!! Ryde4 is a great mix of energizing music, sweat-inducing workouts, friendly instructors, and have a community-feel. Things I enjoy about the classes: towels are provided, bikes are in great shape, cadence is shown on the bike, smaller classes, fun instructors, good location for workouts and sunsets. I choose a bike near the windows as I get really warm and the bikes towards the middle don't seem to get much of a breeze. read more

Pleasantly surprised by Ryde4. The rooftop location in downtown Santa Monica is super cool and parking is really easy at the garage on 4th st. The instructors are very helpful and upbeat, but not intimidating at all. I love getting to use the heart rate monitors so that you can see your effort and calories on the screens while you ride. Great energized class. High energy. Loud music and tons of smiles. The room is a bit tight but for sweaty workouts with great loud music this is the place to be. The parking is free for 1.5 and into the alley you go inside a buzzed door that awakens your inner stealth. They have towels and shoes for rent. read more

She is awesome, funny and encouraging without being over the top and cheesy and making me want to yell STFU. The classes are small and good mix of gals and guys. People go hard. I loved my time at Ryde this past Sunday. I drove down from Pasadena specifically to ride outside with Mary who is FABULOUS. She is an LA gem and is an awesome instructor. She is intense but her energy and smile is just so contagious- she pushes me to work harder which I absolutely love. The breeze outside was so nice, getting to view the ocean while I workout is just a special treat and a reminder of how blessed I am to be living in LA. I LOVE THIS PLACE! My favorite is the 60 minute STRENGTH class. They incorporate three weight segments (two light weight and one heavier weight) which crushes your arms in the best way! Mary, Michael and team are so much fun and keep the energy up the entire time, every single time. They are so welcoming and encouraging and play awesome music. I've taken spin classes all over the West Side (Soul Cycle, Cycle House, Kinetic, Vie2, etc.) and this is my favorite. I have brought my boyfriend and friend to a class (two people who are not totally into spin) and they both loved it and will be back!! A big plus is they have the BEST bikes. They are super comfortable, sturdy and smooth. Another big plus is parking! As we all know parking in LA is terrible, and there is a parking structure right behind that is free for 90 minutes.
