We had a decently laid out backroom and the service was excellent. After the food was finished we headed into the main lounge and I found it pleasant and typical of the area, so all in all it was nice. Ratoath Inn loses a few stars as 1) it's nothing super amazing and 2) the toilets off the function room weren't in great shape - then again, you don't plan the funeral afters very far in advance so they didn't have a lot of time to prepare and it was a Sunday so maybe the cleaning staff wasn't in. And let me tell you, the lamb was phenomenal. Best dish I had on my Ireland vacation. Super tender meat that was perfectly complimented by the root vegetables and mashed potatoes. I ate that dish CLEAN. My friend ordered the fish and chips, and asked if there was any way she could get mashed potatoes instead of fries because she isn't into too much fried food. The restaurant was very accommodating. My friend is also an Ironman and we found out that our bartender was also one as well! They have live music on the weekends I believe. Great atmosphere because the locals will all gather here and sing or dance along.

The atmosphere was perfect! It was early Sunday morning, and there were already a few locals inside having their morning beer and reading the newspaper. I did some exploring because it looks so small on the outside, but you get in, and it just keeps going and going. The service was lovely. The waitstaff were welcoming and made us feel welcome. The food was perfect. I got the burger and chips. The burger was delicious! The beef quality overseas is sublime! The chips were massive and delicious! Perfectly crisp with a fluffy interior. I also got the pot roast and accompaniments. It was lovely! When in Ireland, you must have a Guinness, I'm sure it's illegal not to! I definitely recommend checking out a pub while in Dublin.

Parking is limited and it seems that most of the village uses the bar as its "local" resulting in slightly cramped conditions as the night progresses. I went for a cup of seafood chowder to start, followed by the steak sandwich. The chowder was just okay in my opinion. A bit too salty and not as thick as I like it. However, I may be a chowder snob. The steak sandwich in the other hand was unreal! Chunky chips, thick sliced bread and the most tender cut of steak. Perfect for a sandwich. I engulfed all the food. The chips were a winner. Fureys tends to be a busy spot, so you may have to wait to be seated. The staff are amazing and handle your wait really well. We were seated and taken care of really quickly. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing by.
