Project is 10k+ after installation costs. Crew shows up on time and starts work to remove existing fence and posts. I get a call during this from American Fence telling me they have to upgrade posts from 4" to 6" at an additional cost of $400! Huh? I call and speak with a manger and he basically says they messed up. I'm waiting for the next sentence that tells me they will make this right. Didn't happen. Manger basically says, "too bad". Wow! Sine I never spoke to anyone at Legacy I couldn't understand how we set a meeting time. I cancelled the first two and asked (via txt) for a phone call to sync schedules. Know what I got after that? Another txt "confirming" a meeting time I never heard about, much less agreed to. Something tells me there's an AI bot managing Legacy's appointments. I don't care: I told them I'd never do business with them an to leave me alone. Don't say I didn't warn you.

He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. The business office of this company has no excuse for failure to respond.
