During my exam, I could hear the doctors next door talking to their patient... but that was really the only criticism I had! They had so many machines I hadn't seen before and some traditional technology I'm used to. No need for dilation either! They spared no exam for my eye health. The cost was very reasonable! I get eye exams yearly and they went above and beyond most other places I have been. I don't have vision insurance by choice, and they happily gave me a lens prescription and measured my PD as well without giving me the run around. They also helped me with the possibility of contacts and even tried some on, which I just couldn't tolerate but haven't completely written off due to the amazing staff. The glasses here are pricy; However, you're paying for a service that other places wouldn't do for you. I would've gone to Costco or somewhere less expensive but the staff's amazing customer service is worth the extra cost. I had new piercings on my ear cartilage that were being snagged by my old glasses; Athena sat with me and found me some frames that would work with my piercings and I bought two pairs! I didn't even know the frame's legs mattered so much. She even went above and beyond and adjusted my existing pair and fixed and adjusted my old favorite pair that I bought elsewhere to be more comfortable while I waited for my pairs to come in. She took her time to help me and you can absolutely tell how much she loves what she does and is willing to help you however you need it. She requested a rush for me as well for free and I really appreciate the willingness to help! Dr. Howell is patient, kind, and makes the exams fun with "games" and prizes at the end to the point that my little guy requests I make more appointments. Turns out Dr Howell has training with migraine day head injuries and possible eye traits that can make that occur. He checked things no eye doctor ever had and told me because of my specific eyes I had been over prescribed and it lead to headaches. When I left there I finally had faith restored in at least one eye doctor! If eyes could breath a sigh of relief that's how my eyes felt. Also, NO headaches with my new prescription!!!! Glasses, Glasses, Glasses everywhere you look when you walk in. If you can't find a pair of frames…read morethat look good on you something is wrong. The downside is there are sooo many frames I found myself getting overwhelmed. After awhile they were looking all the same. Hence the reason I was there. I switched insurance companies at the beginning of the year, and my regular eye Dr wasn't on the list so I decided to check out ShopKo Optical. As soon as I entered the door, I was greeted by smiling faces. I was checked in within less than five minutes. Wow that's what I call service and with a smile no less. The new experience with the Dr went really smooth, and he answered all my questions. I only had a slight change in my eyes so I was happy about that. Glasses take about a week to make, so you will need to make another appointment to come back. On the return appointment I was in and out within 20 minutes. They did say that I could bring in my own sunglass frames and they would replace the lenses with my prescription for just the cost of the lenses. Parking is a nightmare as they share the parking lot with the bar next door.

The best part about this place is the provider Dr Pierce! Every appointment I've ever had at an optometrist felt like I was at a "vision mill" where they just check your prescription and try to get you out of the clinic as fast as possible to see the next patient. Dr Pierce took the time to break down the results of all of my test results in depth; perhaps since I'm an aspiring PA he could tell my nerdy passion for anatomy and went in greater depth because he noticed I appreciated it, but even still that's just the sign of an excellent provider! I never felt rushed during my appointment and he answered all of my questions about how to improve my dry eyes and even gave me regimen advice for hot compress as well as eye drop and eye health supplementation suggestions. I am so happy with my experience and to now have an optometry office I look forward to using exclusively for all my vision needs.
