I booked an appointment here weeks in advance, fully aware I had a big event to host and very limited time. I confirmed it the day before for 11 AM on Saturday. I showed up exactly at 11, only to be asked to have a seat and wait. Twenty-five minutes later, no one had taken me back, no one checked in, and no one gave me a status update. When I asked the front desk what was going on, she was polite but had absolutely no idea when (or if) I'd be seen. At that point, I had no choice but to leave. So thanks to this place, I went home and hosted a party without getting my hair done -- which was the entire point of making an appointment a week ahead. If you can't honor your scheduled appointments, maybe stop accepting them. Or at the very least, have the courtesy to communicate with your clients instead of leaving them sitting around, guessing what's happening. Completely unprofessional and disappointing. read more

They do not stand by their services. My hair extension installation was botched by an untrained stylist, N Lewis who refused to fix or even remove the k-tip extensions she installed incorrectly. The cost was $2,500. Ryan M, the owner said it was not his problem. Terrible person. Terrible salon and N Lewis is not a professional. Shame on them. read more

A lifetime of kudos to Lynn Felix who has been doing creative art with my hair for decades. My "difficult to manage" curly hair has changed over time (i.e. turned silver in color and changed texture) and Lynn has not only helped me navigate the changes, but also adapted the look to suit my need to be theatrical and natural all at the same time. I always go in with the same intention when getting my hair done. MORE BLONDE PLEASE!!‍Over the phone I made it adamant that I don't want a hair cut or a root melt but I walked out of the salon with a root melt. Anyways to keep it somewhat short.. My hair is pretty don't get me wrong, my hair stylist did a great job, it's just not what I asked for. I even had a reference photo showing an icy blonde who had just gotten her hair done here. I was told that my hair is a darker brown on the hair scale (don't remember what number he told me it was exactly at) so maybe that's why it didn't lift all the way to that icy blonde but I've gotten that icy blonde with a different stylist before so I know it's definitely achievable! I just don't prefer the natural looking blonde tone on myself. I also asked for my hair to be straightened but was convinced that I should instead do beach waves which isn't awful but again not what I asked for. On a positive note, I do love the upbeat atmosphere at this salon and the stylists are very friendly and energetic! Love a place where employees actually enjoy what they do for a living! Just probably not the right fit for me. I think I'm just going to have to track down my old hair stylist as she's no longer at Four8Zero salon in Scottsdale. read more

I walked into the salon looking like a mess. First thing is: Tara is totally engaging and so nice. Totally put my frizzy, unattended hair color, ponytailed self at ease. She listens to what you want, even though she can probably figure it out because of her level of expertise. Needless to say when all was said and done, I was shocked!!!! My hair cut style for my face & hair type (I trusted her while communicating clearly what I wanted & thought she understood my needs but did not) with Tara was a very disappointing one, a very amateur cut (1 Star). Nothing against her personally as she is lovely. Waited to see if it would grow on me but the haircut turned progressively distasteful over the next 2 weeks until I received another cut with Ryan V, his cut professional and beautiful (5 Stars). I just had my first experience at Ryan M and loved it. I saw my favorite stylist Oliver Wietholter who I absolutely love and followed to Ryan M. He makes you feel like you are the only person in the room, he listens and gives great recommendations when you want and is simply fun to talk to. I love a cool, natural highlight look and however he works his magic he makes my hair color look amazing! I also have fine hair and he really knows how to make it look neat and full. Won't name the specific stylist but absolutely the worst cut and color I've ever had. Had good expectations and went with pictures to help the stylist understand what I wanted. Instead of paying attention to the pictures that were totally just meant to help him, he pulled out pictures of his wife and children. At some point that might be okay but for a first visit I think it best to check what a new client hopes to have as a result. Instead, I came home and cried. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more

My fantastic hair colorist/ stylist, Lynn Felix was most recently at another salon and since I'll follow her wherever she goes I followed her to Ryan M Salon when it opened in January 2019. First off, Lynn is what they call in their trade a master stylist. She is beyond excellent whether it's cut, color whatever you want.... she'll do what you want but she will tell you if it won't work or if need to cut more than the 1/8 inch (I hope to get any with) in order for your hair to look it's best. In 19 years she has never cancelled an appointment with me. She is always on time, her station is never messy and the assistants she hires are with her for a long time. They are there to learn and it shows. The Ryan M Salon is new and it is beautiful. The valet parking is such a plus. The front desk staff are attentive and very friendly. The salon is very clean, modern in decor and I love the artwork they have chosen. This is a beautifully appointed upscale salon but not a place that anyone would be made to feel uncomfortable walking into. If anyone is looking for a new salon Ryan M should not be overlooked. Their stylists are from all different backgrounds, but Lynn has a special knack of knowing how to cut my curly hair just right so it can be worn curly or blown out stick straight; an invaluable talent that anyone with curly hair will appreciate in a stylist; and I've known a few that can cut off too much!
