TL:DR Overly cumbersome approach to working with customers. Ultimately, just didn't show up for confirmed appointment. Unacceptable. ____________________________________ I'm looking for a mortgage for a place in Austin. I've generally had great success with Yelp reviews, so given the high ratings Leahy made my short list of companies to contact. As I did for other firms, I sent a clear email with the specifics (property location, mortgage amount, etc). The other mortgage companies were a mix of big national firms and the more local Austin based ones. My preference is to support local. All four of the other firms replied within a day or two with clear answers to my questions with attached detailed proposals. All I got from Leahy was a form email with details for how to schedule an introductory call with Ryan. I prefer the quick, easy approach of email, but as Leahy is highly rated and a local Austin firm, I decided to go ahead and schedule a meeting. I followed the Leahy process and scheduled a meeting. I received a confirmation, which I then confirmed as well. I blocked the time on my calendar. At the confirmed scheduled time, I waited and waited and waited ... Ryan never showed up. He finally did call 40 min late. That kind of disrespect for my time is not appreciated. This is not a meeting I requested. It is one requested by Ryan. An unnecessary meeting at that ... lesson learned. My preference is the quick simplicity of providing by email or through an online form the details needed, minimizing the demands on the firm's time and also on mine. If a business is going to impose more cumbersome and time consuming approach on customers, showing up for confirmed meetings is basic level service. In contrast to my Leahy experience, two firms had excellent online tools that went through the workflow to collect the info they needed from me. Those two firms were also the quickest to provide complete, detailed quotes. The online tool lowered their costs and demands on their time, but also meant higher customer satisfaction for me. These two firms, not surprisingly, also had the most competitive quotes with the lowest fees. read more
