What I love about this agency is it feels like a close family. They care about us being successful. During covid we had meetings to brush up on our skills, including how to do more virtual auditions. I signed with Ryan years ago after inviting Taylor to one of my plays, which she attended (it's so hard to find an agent willing to come to see your show). Over the years she has been supportive and easy to talk to and has helped me book a number of gigs. She will also go out of her way to text you to make sure you are not missing audition requests. Most of these reviews are around 10 years old, so I'm writing a review of the agency now. I've been represented by Ryan for 17 years. Yes back when, the agency had 4 owners over 6 years, which was a bit chaotic. Yes, years ago payments were slow to arrive (I once waited 18 months). But, the agency has definitely improved. Cholee and Taylor are very approachable, so if you have concerns talk to them. They will listen and discuss your needs. They have advised me on headshots, gone over my callback rate to assess my performance, and Taylor has written me letters of reference and advocated for me. Currently, Ryan hosts periodic zoom meetings with talent to discuss industry trends and get input from talent. I'm staying with Ryan. read more

My experience with Ryan Artists has been positive so far. Being a self-employed work-at-home mom I decided to submit my toddler for modeling to a few agencies in the area. Ryan Artists signed her to their children's roster and as a result she has had a pretty good run in the year she has been with them. I'm not too concerned with the monetary benefit of modeling but my now almost two year old seems to enjoy the attention she gets with modeling and will be a good skill-building experience as she gets older. We have many great professional photos of our daughter to show for which I enjoy more than the monetary aspect. They are a bit understaffed but Taylor, who is my main contact, seems to truly enjoy working here and is very professional. She is quick to return calls or e-mails when it counts. Dealing with Ryan Artists was a nightmare. They do not value or respect your time and good luck getting your check. Taylor acts as though she is a Hollywood mogul (I assure you, she is not)... if you are unable to make it to a casting, she will ask you "why" and then let you know how lucky you were she even considered you. Outside of my former talent to agency relationship and the talent agency's perception of the situation, it still stands that the way business, communication and accounting was carried out by this talent agency speaks to two key indicators of a red flag: 1. Unorganized in their business affairs. 2. Understaffed and stretched to the point where you can't hear yourself talking over the phone to the agent because she's too busy tending to her crying child. read more

Unfortunately, I have had the same situation. Ryan Artist was great with getting me auditions, and i was booking jobs. However, getting paid is another story. I waited about 5months to be paid and later found out that they were paid two weeks after I worked the gig. Somehow this wasn't reflecting in their system. I was active with Ryan Artists until about 2008, then got out of the industry for six years. I am now becoming more active again; I met recently with Cholee and found her to be generous with her time, focused and not distracted, and ready with good suggestions. She also struck me as sincerely interested in helping me grow as an actor. Furthermore, she was honest and straight forward with what one can expect from the industry here in Portland. My daughter was never paid for 2 jobs. We tried for almost a year with correspondence to what I believe is a non-existant accounting department and was given the run-around by management. Disappointing and obviously we are not the only ones with this payment issue! In agreement with the others, don't do jobs for this agency if you think you will see a check! read more

It is funny to me that it takes 8 months to get payed for one job. I have never been told my paycheck was ready for pick up once. It took weeks sometimes months of emailing the Ryan artists accountant directly in order to track down my paycheck. The organizational skills that Ryan artists have are far from professional. It's actually embarrassing. I don't understand how an agency could be so unorganized in general. Wish I had something better to say about Ryan artists, but I can't deny the truth. read more

They don't pay you on time ever. My son didn't get paid and had to wait a whole entire year! Met others at auditions that also said they had been waiting 6 months or more to be paid. That should of been my sign when I signed my son up. Run far away from this place. read more

I do not recommend this agency! An agent's main purpose is to see that his/her client is treated fairly and properly paid. If the agent is becoming an additional barrier to payment and treating her clients with little regard or respect, a talent must question why he or she would want to be represented by such an agent. I myself had a bad experience with this company, and I know of others who have as well. read more
