I recently added on a new service, in addition to the basic home security service that includes door breaks, window breaks and motion sensors I added the key-less deadbolt. Jason was my tech and he arrived on time. My scheduled time was 8am to 10 am and he was at my door at 8am. Vivint did a good job of confirming the apt. time with me prior and Jason called when he was on his way. Once he got work he realized my system needed a few updates so he took that on as well. The deadbolt installation went smoothly because he the right tools for a job. We have a 100 year old house with 100 year old doors so nothing is ever easy but he handled all the little pop up issues. While he was working he told me all the features of the deadbolt. After the install he was patient with helping me program the new system and actually showing me the features and made sure I understood. This was an act of shear patience on his part because I am not tech savvy. He did not try to sell me any additional products but he did make me aware of some new technology that may be useful to me in the future and at some point I will be adding on to my current system. I would highly recommend Jason with Vivint and all the Vivint services.

Avoid Vivint if you ever think you might need customer service…read more My experience with Vivint has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. I recently purchased a new home that already has a security system, so I contacted Vivint to cancel my service. About five weeks ago, a representative convinced me to place my account on a one-year deferment instead of canceling, saying it would give us time to decide if we wanted to switch back. Despite that agreement, Vivint still charged me $81. Since then, I've spent hours on hold over multiple phone calls trying to get the charge refunded and my account canceled. Every time I call, I'm either transferred, left waiting indefinitely, or told I need to call back again. After weeks of trying, I still don't have a refund and still don't have my account canceled. The $81 isn't even the main issue anymore. It's the complete lack of customer service and the amount of time they've wasted. No customer should have to spend hours on hold just to resolve a billing mistake and cancel a service. If Vivint puts this much effort into preventing customers from leaving instead of helping them, that's a serious problem. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vivint to anyone. There are plenty of security companies that value their customers' time and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Vivint has shown me the opposite.

First off, I didn't sign up for Bates. I originally signed up with Kentucky Alarm Services, which…read moreas stated in my review that I left on their page before Bates took it over and changed the name to their own. https://www.yelp.com/biz/kentucky-alarm-services-lexington-2 I spent almost $2000 on security cameras that I was told were warrantied and were, for as long as Kentucky Alarm Services existed. Slightly unbeknownst to me, KAS sold out to Bates. Low and behold when the cameras faulted one by one, we were billed each time that they came out to repair them. Each time, my husband called to argue the warranty, each time a collection notice would follow. We finally gave up and brought new cameras elsewhere. This summer, months ago... my alarm sensors stopped working. At least twice, my daughter came home and without disarming, she was able to make it upstairs, to bed without ever tripping the alarm. For the last few months practically the only thing we've been using the Bates Services for, was for my husband to enter the garage... that was an app feature, to open and close the garage from the app. Finally months later, I decided to disconnect service altogether. My husband called and was told that we needed to give a months notice, by sending a simple email. That I did. Days later, again, unbeknownst to us, they disconnected service... while my husband was at work. So, when he got home, he discovered this and had to wait on me to arrive home before he could entered... should've hung on to his garage door opener. The next day, I was surprised to find a mailed notice explaining that we were still responsible for the upcoming month's bill... which we were already aware of. What I am appalled about is that they want you to pay for that last month, but disconnect and ban you from service during that time frame. So, we hadn't yet connected our replacement alarm service. I've never heard of any company or contract that requires you to pay something without providing service. I will mention, that after my husband made a few calls, they credited back that last months service that they disconnected anyways, so I'll give them a second star. Beware.
