Our cruise was quite full, so I would recommend getting their around 20 minutes early if you have a preference of where you sit. The ticket prices felt very fair as they were about $15 each for a 45 minute ride. It is in the heart of downtown so its mainly street parking, there is a paid lot slightly further down that is 12 dollars for the day. The cruise itself is fun as you float down the canal and learn more about the history in the area. We went around 3pm which was the perfect time as it wasn't too hot but still sunny enough to enjoy. While I had a great time, I think it was more so a novel experience. The ride felt a bit short with the sights remaining quite consistent since the canal is small/short. I don't think I would do it again as it would feel repetitive, but for the first time canal cruiser I think they would have a great time!

Everyone had a good time, and it was a relaxing ride. From the beginning of planning all the way to the end of the tour Anne provided nothing but exemplary service!! Anne is a very kind, caring and sweet individual who is passionate about what she does as shown in the details of the tour. In addition, to her many talents she surprised us with singing for us while visiting Westover Church! She has a beautiful voice!! Anne answered all our questions before hand expeditiously and was available by Facebook messenger, phone and email. Coordination and getting in contact was super easy. We had brought our own decorations with us to decorate our friend's bicycle for her birthday and Anne did an awesome job!! The birthday girl was ecstatic! Ahead of time you indicate your height so that your bike can be adjusted. If you prefer you can utilize your own bike. I find it more convenient to use her bikes and they were comfortable, had three gears and a nice basket to stores your things. Included in the price are some snacks which consist of a peach or apple and seasoned pecans or walnuts and a water bottle. I recommend bringing an additional water bottle or bring a camelbak if it's super hot. Anne was nice enough to start our tour earlier as a request to avoid the hotter parts of the day. We began our bike adventure from Upper Shirley vineyards with stops along the way to learn some history including VCU Rice Center, and passing many plantations. It's a lovely tour that allows you to bike throughout america's history despite it's harsh realities. Majority of the route is along part of the capital bike trail (which the capital trail is 52 miles). Although you won't be biking the entire route, the tour is 14miles. You do have stops along the way. It's do-able if you don't necessarily work out on a daily basis, but fair warning you may get tuckered out. There's some slight inclines nothing major but my out of shape self was beat, but I did it! :) At the end of the tour you return back to Upper Shirley Vineyards. Anne provides nice cold wet towels infused with lavender to cool off upon your return. You have the option to add lunch for an additional price. We chose this option and it's well worth it!! Anne has a good network within her community. The food at Upper Shirley was delicious it included an entree, a glass of wine, and two shared appetizers. I think the tour itself includes the wine tasting only and you can possibly exchange the tasting For a bottle of wine instead. This was a great way to celebrate! I highly suggest it for anyone who likes to bike, likes history and or enjoys wine! A unique way to celebrate birthdays, do a family outing, bachelorette parties, girls' day out etc and or date nights and to stay active, enjoy the outdoors and explore! PSA - (could stand for personal instead of public service announcement haha) Do NOT try to take a selfie on a bike while riding on a rocky or gravel path. Trust me. I got cocky, because I did it the first time on the ride and no issues and on the way back I took a second selfie and wiped out! The wipe out H-U-R-T, but Anne was super nice about it and was very compassionate and caring. She ran to my aid and cleaned me up and bandaged me. She even offered to get her car and take me back. But I said I was okay to bike back and I was. Even after we got back to the vineyards she attended to me. So you know you're in good hands if a mishap should happen, even if it is your own fault :/ Sorry Anne! Thanks for taking good care of me!!! Recommendations: Bring an extra bottle of water or Camelbak if it's a really hot day. Use sunscreen. Bring sun glasses Wear only sneakers or sandals that are secure that have a back strap to it. No flip flops Have a good time! It truly is a wonderful time! Be safe, don't act like a fool like I did ;)

This is a review for Captain Mike's private eagle tour…read more My fiancee's family and I booked a 2 hour private eagle tour this recent week and it was one of the most fantastic experiences I've had in Richmond! Our tour started bright and early at 7:30 AM out of a private yacht club dock on Captain Mike's pontoon boat. He provides everything you'll need for the trip from water for hydration, binoculars for avian viewing, and blankets if you decide to not dress warm enough. There is easily seating for at least 6 on the boat itself. There are restrooms right by the dock as well. Mike as a tour guide was fantastic. There's a difference between simply knowing what you're talking about versus being truly passionate about it, and Mike is absolutely the latter. Our tour brought us through 5 resident eagle territories (eagle pairs are extremely territorial and rarely cross boundaries), and Mike knew the names, history, boundaries, and interesting quirks about each pair. We saw at least one eagle from all of the pairs, and half of the time both the male and the female. He is also very knowledgeable about many of the other birds on the river like osprey, herons, cormorants, and kingfishers. Mike also keeps a stash of fish on the boat to feed the eagles and bring them in close. I knew we would see eagles on the tour, but I no idea that we'd be maybe 20 feet from them. There's a big difference between seeing one in a tree or a zoo versus seeing one swooping down in front you scooping up a fish to bring back to a tree or their nearby nest. It's really quite a breathtaking experience. The stretch of river itself is nice in its own right as well. If for some weird (and wrong) reason that you're not interested in learning about the majestic birds of the river, you could just sit back and enjoy a nice boat ride down the James. The site lists the details and cost of the tour if you wanted to read more about it. The private tour is about $300 for two hours for up to a group of six people. In my opinion it is absolutely worth it. There's a wealth of knowledge to learn about from Captain Mike, and everything was just a great experience. Absolutely recommend.

The tour itself was absolutely even better than I could have ever hoped. Our tour guide Shira and our tour bus driver Aharon were family by the time our tour was over. It literally felt like we were saying goodbye to loved ones as we departed the airport in Tel Aviv. Sherry also went above and beyond at every turn as we were organizing the Bar Mitzvah. They secured both a videographer and a photographer for us. They organized a luncheon at the only restaurant that overlooks the Western Wall. When we first sent the money for the trip I was nervous and wondering if I would get my money's worth.... In retrospect, when you look at what was included and what we received.... Some of the best money I ever spent. Thanks to Sherry, Missy, Shira, Aharon and the entire Yosher Tours team for the trip of lifetime. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but this team deserves nothing but rave reviews. Headed to Israel? Your search for a tour company stops right here with the best tour company out there.... Upon arriving 3 mins before…read moretheir 4:15pm start time, we walked into the downstairs of Capital to see the rest of the tour folks taking a drink of the 2nd beer sample. I politely ask the tour guide, "What beers were sampled today?" His response was a look of confusion, and he didn't know the beers that were sampled. Better yet, we were not even offered the samples. Strike 1. Everything seemed a little disorganized and that was made evident when the owner, not giving the tour this past Saturday, asks "Who hasn't purchased tickets yet?" We were immediately looked at and given the look, you're not going on the tour because you walked in last; regardless of the fact that we purchased our tickets over a month beforehand. Evidently, the company could not count the number of people on their own tour list to see that we had 2 people too many. A couple that was there on their anniversary date were asked/told they would not be going and they would be given an extra two tickets. Strike 2. Upon getting on the bus and rolling over to Legends the group we were with was a solid group. We were all joking and having a good time. At Legends everything was a little chaotic and not organized at all (definitely not a shock after our start). It was nothing beyond the standard Legend flight, that was poured and half the time the tour guide pouring didn't know what was in the pitcher (Pale or IPA, he did not know). Really? Also, we were told nothing about the beers that were being poured, were given no tour or description how they brew there, nothing. Strike 3. Next up was Midnight Brewery. We arrive and find out there is some beer festival going on; interesting. We get inside and the guide has no idea what is going on. 5-10 mins later he walks around and hands us all a $5 beer coupon and says, "They are not doing samples due to the event." Ok. So my group and myself proceed up to the pouring area and talk to the bartender. Super nice and points out that most of the small brewery owners were there hanging out. So, the bartender knows more than our guide, awesome! We get introduced to the owner and was ask him to give us a tour. He was very welcoming and then introduced us to Neil Burton, the founder of Strangeways (where we were heading next). A huge thumbs ups for Midnight! Tour company: strike 4. We get to Strangeways and everything was. . . . unorganized/chaotic. Surprised? Me either. They give us a few samples to taste, and were nice. We again, heard nothing about their brewing process, did not see the brewing room, nothing. The beer was tasty, no question. Strike 5. This tour needs a major overhaul for it to be worth it. At $65 a ticket, this was one of the biggest wastes of $130 we had spent on a night out ever. I'm not one to bash a company, but for the 3 places we went (I'm not counting Capital since we didn't get any samples there) we could have gone and asked for a tour, had a few samples and spent half what we did.
