The museum of Meadow Farm here behind Crump Park is a lovely example of rural farm life in circa 1860. It's well-preserved and has distinct architectural significance of middle class living in that time period. The outbuildings are also well-maintained and the grounds are nicely manicured. At times there are festivals here where folks dress in period costumes and demonstrate candle making, basket weaving, etc. and a blacksmith quarters. There are also animals dwelling in the barns and pastures of this natural living farm. They have many activities and historic events, including a history of "Gabriel's Rebellion". There is usually a big July 4th celebration and other calendar events. This is a wonderful family park as there's lots of trails, picnic areas, a lake and other amenities. Don't miss touring this beautiful park!

Despite that, I arrived on time but other guests did not and arrived over 30 minutes late. My 1 hour ghost tour was 3 hours long. However, I really enjoyed the ghost tour guide and the content was Ok. The content of the two hour trolley tour was really informative and comprehensive but the trolley struggled to get up many of the hills in Richmond and was loud and the exhaust smelly. Having the older, southern gentleman tour guide refer to me as a yankee I did not appreciate- not because it isn't true but because I was raised in the deep south and more southern than him. Asking questions was not encouraged on the trolley tour.

And they all were great!! This is a walking tour and luckily the weather on June 7th was perfecto!!! Our tour guide Leah (Aleah maybe) was very informative and excited to show us around. The group consisted mostly of couples that seemed to be familiar with the surroundings. However, my guest and I were new to the tour and very much new to the Richmond's food scene. Therefore, we were already excited to be there and to experience some of VCU's Alternative Eats (that was the name of the tour)!! We were encouraged to wear comfy shoes of course and the meeting spot was a museum on VCU's campus. Most of the tours are walking tours, but Leah informed me about one (or two maybe) tour is on a bus throughout Richmond. The tours are held every weekend rain or shine. We parked on the street (2 hour parking) but the tour was from 2-430pm so we figured oh no...better get money out for the towing company. We didn't return to the car until 5ish but the car was still there unticketed...yes!!! All the places on the tour were great in their own way. This was a great group and I liked them all. If you want to try something new for cheap (take into acct two people at a restaurant spending about $50...but you get to go to 5 restaurants for $110) in my opinion, I definitely recommend it. They don't tell you the restaurants ahead of time so it's a hit or miss I assume, but being that our tour guide is a reviewer herself, I doubt she would set you up for failure. It's definitely ideal to not eat before the tour because after the 3rd stop I was full!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the portions are hearty, not finger foods on this tour. I can't wait to go back and try another area in Richmond... Have fun! The Black Sheep was feature on Man vs Food...fyi :) Also the tour guides up to 15 people Tickets are purchased in advance Check em out :)

The food is delicious and your get to try food from at least 5 or 6 restaurants. This is great because it helps build a list of restaurants that you can go back someday and have a complete meal. I've lived in Richmond for 27 years and these tours keep me abreast of what is new in the different sections of Richmond. I would highly recommend any of these tours for a great afternoon activity. The tour comes with complimentary breakfast and lunch. We got picked up at the little station behind Freedom Car Wash and Wawa. The bus was brand new and very comfortable. They had a selection of apple cinnamon muffins, sweet potato pastries, grapes, and strawberries with blueberries for breakfast. The muffins and sweet potato pastries made by a contestant on Master Chef Junior and the muffins were great. I didn't have the pastries because I don't like sweet potatoes. We were offered a bag with water and a granola bar with brochures for wineries and some for the ones we were going to. The was also a scent bag with soy candle samples from Pink Zebra. They smelled great. Next on the list was gathering the rest of the group for the trip from Norfolk. Once we got everyone, we were offered mimosas; candor l cranberry or orange. We chose orange. Deanna introduced herself, daughter, and granddaughter. She also introduced those who she knew who were on the trip. She provided some great historic facts like the origin of witchduck. She discussed the history of Virginia wine and information about Virginia Born presidents. Our first stop was New Kent Winery and our host was great and very polite. The tasting was very informative and fun. Their wines were fantastic and the Vineyard was amazing. It wasn't on the itinerary, but Deanna put it on there. Next was Michie Tavern. We had lunch there and the buffet was great. The wine tasting, not so much. Third stop was Baubersville and the wine was ok. We weren't really a fan of the environment because I felt out of place even though I was dressed pretty nicely. Last stop was Horton and our host was amazing! We had so much fun! We will definitely do this tour again in the fall because it was great and it was so much fun! Happy to have been part of the inaugural trip!
