I did this walking tour with my husband and some friends. We had such a great time learning about some of the the stories that happened in the area. It was also great because we had a small group, so we were able to get to talk our tour guide a lot and ask questions. She was very accommodating to me especially, because I'm hard of hearing, and when I told her, she made sure to speak loudly so that I could hear clearly. I loved that our tour guide really got into her character and dressed in period clothing. That made it that much more fun. She's a wealth of knowledge and really knows her stuff. Besides all that, it's pretty cool to be able to walk around Colonial Williamsburg at night, when there's less people out. read more

Great tour guides friendly and personal great deals. They know what their talking about with the history of Williamsburg enjoyed my self and the ghost tours and staff tremendously read more

I expect a little more spook than basic stories. It was a nice tour, but definitely not what I expected. The stories told weren't even spooky just basic someone died here and now people hear or see things. I guess if your just wanting to find out basic who did where and who maybe haunting places this would be the perfect tour. read more

We went on this tour last night and had an awesome time! Witch Gracie and Mr Pirate were outstanding tour guides! If you're in the area and haven't gone, what are you waiting for? read more

We purchased a Groupon for two people, which brought the price down and made this an excellent deal! We did the tour on a Saturday night at 10:30pm. It lasted an hour, and there were a lot of bugs out. Most of the tour route was well lit. One car almost nearly hit our group on our route, but it's near a college and residential area, so it's not the tour company's fault for crazy drivers nearby. Just be vigilant. The female tour guide was really enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable about the topic: witches! Although the meet location was initially hard to find because of conflicting information on the website, we got there in time for the tour. There were about 13 of us, and 3 people defected, so we were down to 10 of us, which was a good size group. The tour guide showed us the main attractions and offered us opportunities to take pictures, offered to take pictures, offered to answer any further questions, and overall made the tour very enjoyable with her pacing, delivery, and zeal. I highly recommend this tour, and don't forget to tip! I offered extra than I would normally only because the tour guide was so good at what she did! If only I remembered her name! read more

My husband and I took the Dead of Night tour at 10pm last night with Cam and Kate. We chose Spooks and Legends because of their goal to investigate paranormal activity, not for fictional storytelling or a tourist trap, and we were NOT disappointed! Our tour was pretty charged, and several of us captured activity on our cell phone cameras. Cam and Kate were great hosts--they were knowledgeable and truly passionate about the paranormal. We appreciated their willingness to talk about their own experiences, and we enjoyed this tour. The only critique we have is with company policy, and that is the reason for a four, instead of five, star review: the 10pm tour is not meant for children. There were several kids (under the age of 13) in one party last night, and they simply should not have been allowed. The late-night tour should be restricted like an R-rated movie: ages 16 and older. I say this because there was activity on our tour that creeped me out, and I'm a grown adult! I don't think the setting is appropriate for children. We will definitely tour again with Cam and Kate the next time we visit Williamsburg. Tours like these are a different experience every time, and I look forward to what the next one will bring! read more

It was misting and FREEZING last night and I almost didn't go. HOWEVER, The three "ghosts" were absolutely wonderful! They were energetic and funny and knowledgeable and it ended up being the best ghost tour I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot). Kudos to your team ! This is the tour we went on. I posted this earlier to the wrong tour! read more

I took a ghost tour and went in front of this house and took photos. As I was standing there with everyone I felt a burning sensation on my neck. I got scratched. Also I kept taking photos of the house which showed fog. At last when everyone was leaving me behind I asked the house if I could get a photo without the fog and it let me. I loved the tour. Everyone was so interesting, the witch, pirate and tour guide was awesome! Loved it! read more

We booked this tour last minute on a Saturday night. There were 20 people in our group and our guide, Marcus, was WONDERFUL! He knew lots of 'extra' ghost stories and every answer to any question asked. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a little extra excitement while in town...there is a lot of walking- so stretch before heading out. read more

The tour was ok. We swear all these haunted tours are the same. They get these pieces of information that seem a bit haunted and then they all basically tell the same stories. We liked it somewhat. The story telling could be better. read more

My husband and I got a Groupon for the combo tour and it felt like a steal at the time ($20 for both of us). Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, and there is a strict no exchange or refund policy that prevented us from exchanging our reservation for a night with better weather. Also a warning to those going on the tour, it can get quite buggy, so apply some sort of insect repellent to make the tour more comfortable. I called the office multiple times before the tour, because I was confused about the location/direction information listed online and receptionist was not always the most helpful, and she ended up responding in an exasperated and annoyed tone. We parked in the free parking lot recommended online, and did the short two-minute walk to the meeting spot in front of The Cheese Shop in Colonial Williamsburg. The guide was easily identifiable and we checked in by showing him our Groupon voucher. We made it about 20 minutes into the tour before the showers starting, and the guide deserves credit because he was soaked and still stayed committed to his character and leading the tour. At one point the rain became too much and he gave the group the option to continue the tour or just hear a few more stories, the group decided to push through. The showers started again shortly before the next tour included in our Groupon combo package, and showed no signs of letting up. We and a few others in the group decided to call it a night after this. We found it difficult to hear the guide due to the size of the group-about 35 people, and wish that we could have heard him better, however we understand that the tour guide was doing the best he could, and perhaps that's more of a booking issue. All in all, I don't think we would do this again. read more

Disclaimer... I went on a groupon so what could I really expect. There was easily at least 50 people on my tour which made it quite difficult for people to hear the host. I honestly felt like a cow being moved through the streets. The host was in character the entire time and was pleasant, but man she was a speed walker! I felt bad for some of the older guest because they were out of breath. read more

I had purchased tickets for 6 people to take this ghost tour in May, however due to this whole Corona Virus Pandemic, we had to cancel our vacation. I reached out to "Spooks and Legends Haunted Tours" (Bonnie) and although they have a NO REFUND policy, she was willing to work with us, understanding that this situation was unforeseen and unfortunate. She gave us a credit and extended the time in which we could use the tickets. We are very grateful for her kindness and understanding, Especially knowing that this is a small family run business that is currently hurting to from the current situation. We must take care and work with business like this, who are willing to compromise and try to make there customers happy, Thank you so much Bonnie!! We really appreciate you generosity and kindness!! Looking forward to going on your tour!!! read more

That tour was awesome!!!! Don't listen to the negative people!! Yes it is true you only stop at a few locations but she tells you a wealth of stories at each location. Once she gets in character there was no turning back!! She was very polite and made sure that everyone was quiet so that no one missed a story! We had a pretty large group and I was able to her perfectly each time. She does give you time to "sketch" photos of the sites of you wish to try and capture anything!! I would absolutely go again!!!!! read more

Booked because of all of the Yelp reviews. Missed the groupon deal because you have to buy the groupon then reserve 72 hours in advance and mine was more a last minute decision. Even without the groupon you have to reserve and pay in advance. DONT DO IT. There are other tours you can book same day. I will say that if it had not not been for the pouring rain this tour may have been better BUT the Bonnie that keeps getting references on yelp was NOT the guide we had. The first two stories could not be heard because the rain was so loud. I get rain or shine but really??!! The stories we did hear were OK but certainly not anything special or different from any other ghost tour. By about half way through the tour we had lost half of our original numbers because the walk was just to dangerous with the pouring rain and uneven walking surface. Then the tour guide walks the group across a grassy area IN THE POURING RAIN. We are in vacation and these our only sneakers. Thank goodness I had a dryer in my unit! At the end of a mediocre, if not altogether bad, tour the guide asked for gratuities apparently forgetting that they were getting paid to be there while I was actually PAYING. And then for the topper to the whole crap sundae - the guide points down one of the streets (don't forget 1. Not locals 2. Pouring rain 3. Pitch black ) and says if you head down this street you will find the area we started. WHAT??!! I have been on many tours and have NEVER not been brought back to where I started or at least the general area - certainly not 5 blocks away!! I can't even! You can not make this stuff up folks. So when your coming from out of town AND spending over $100 on tickets for a tour AND the website says ADVANCE PURCHASE REQUIRED one might assume that it means more than an hour. The point is moot however- what I said in my review was that GROUPON vouchers needed redeemed 72 hours in advance. Furthermore - arguing with a dissatisfied customer is ALWAYS the way to go. Although just simply saying "I'm sorry you had a bad experience" might just get you a return customer AND make you look less ignorant but who am I offer business advice to such a successful customer service representative. While you certainly cannot control the weather you certainly could act in a responsible manor and use good judgement when it comes to running tours in inclement weather when your paying customers safety is in question AND maybe just maybe .... don't ask them to tip too. read more

This is a great tour for families! We had a fun time and really enjoyed hearing about the history of the locations we saw. It's very different from other tours we have been on because it was a little theatrical but my kids really enjoyed it! read more

After reading other Yelp reviews, I decided on this one for my recent trip to Colonial Williamsburg. I'm so glad I did! Bonnie was a great guide that dressed and stayed in character while telling ghostly stories of the past and more recent. I will definitely return for the Witches of Williamsburg tour. Forget the "official" tour...this is the route to go. read more

We attended the Witches tour and the Ghost tour on two separate nights. Both tours were not that impressive but were vastly different. The Witches tour, the guy didn't really know what he was talking about and at the Ghost Tour, the woman went into full character and even called photography 'sketching.' If you are going to go on either tour, get a groupon. read more

We saw this tour on Groupon and figured, why not? Glad we did. Tour guide was funny, different and definitely has done her research. In total there were 7 of us and we all had a great time! read more

Didn't quite know what to expect when making the reservation for the Witches of Williamsburg tour but it turned out to be very fun and entertaining. I also learned a thing or two! We took pictures from the tour and in one of the photos you can make out the silhouette of a person. Spooky stuff! Would definitely recommend and go back again. read more

This was good. A lot more entertaining than the other tours in the area. She gets into it. Entertaining and informative. I liked it.

This tour was a lot of fun! We had a great time and the full moon and lightning just added to the aura. The kids enjoyed this more than they expected and are still telling ghost stories. We called at the last minute and were able to use the Yelp special. The walking was a bit fast especially for some of the older clientele. We heard other groups along the way with slightly different versions. This was much better than we expected. Can't wait to go back tomorrow and check out in the daylight! read more

This is a great tour. Bonnie never breaks character and weaves real Williamsburg history into the stories. I highly recommend to visitors and local residents alike. You'll have a great time. read more

Amazing tour! Great tour guide! Fun for the whole family. We have visited Williamsburg for years and have gone on many different tours. This one was, by far, the best. Not only was it factual, but it was interesting and our whole family had a wonderful time. If you're in the area, this is a tour you don't want to miss! read more

Great tour. Bonnie was awesome. Really enjoyed. The pirate section was my fave. I will return for the other tours

This was a great tour! I love how the guides get into character and take you on the tour. It makes it much more than a ghost tour. It really makes it more Colonial Williamsburg like because all of the people in Colonial Williamsburg are playing a character of sorts. I have been on another ghost tour with another company in Williamsburg and this one was much better! Thanks for the experience and we are looking forward to the conspiracy tour! read more

I have been on numerous ghost tours in Charleston SC, Savannah, DC, etc. This was near the bottom of the list. The tour is less than 1 hr and you go to about 4-5 places with long winded stories at each with the guide in character. Something about the character and the tour was lacking and contrived. If you do this tour go on Groupon as this really is an $8 or less kind of tour. read more

A lot of walking so bring comfortable shoes. I'm not a fan of keeping the story in character but the narrator did a good job telling the stories. The actual stories weren't all that interesting. Wasn't bad deal for the cost. read more

This was a great ghost tour! My tweens and teens talked about it the rest of the week. She did a great job dressing in costume and playing a part. The stories were much more interesting than if it was just a history tour. We had heard history all day and were ready to be entertained with relatable stories. We've done ghost tours in many cities and this one was among the best. read more

My husband and I did the dead of the night tour last night. Our only regret was not doing the witches tour as well. Our tour guide was knowledge and humorous! There was also a torch light parade happening at the same time. Even though it was difficult to hear over the drums at times I think it just added a little more fun to the tour. Next visit to Williamsburg we will take our daughter and do both tours. read more

Good informative tour. I missed the beginning because I called before out tour to ask about the meeting point and was told to go in front of the cheese shop. I think she misunderstood me and thought I was talking about a different tour. I did find the website said to go elsewhere and we eventually caught up with our tour 15 mins later. We were hoping it was be spookier, but there were children there, so I can see why it was mild. The tour guide kept us very engaged the entire time. Thanks read more

This was such a great walk. Love the fact that the tour guide role plays a pysch. patient and is dressed in character. I would recommend it. Great price also. read more

We signed up for the ghost tour not having any expectations. This tour was FUN. My 12 year old daughter was very into the whole thing and was sure she heard a ghost! It was tame enough for children, but it still was a little scary just like a good ghost story should be. Bonnie the guide was in character the whole time and she did a great job upping the spooky factor as she was playing a woman who was "crazy". I recommend it for a fun family night out or even date night. read more

LOVE This unique TOUR!!! It seems to be the only one of its kind in the town. We have been on other tours and none even begin to compare to this one! The costumed tour guide keeps your interest throughout her tour by staying in character the entire time! I would reccomend for anyone looking for an informative tour with a unique twist! read more

We picked this tour based on all of the great reviews, but were very disappointed. The group was so large that we could not hear the tour guide most of the time. We had contacted the guide ahead of time to see if the tour was handicapped accessible since we had one member of our group in a wheel chair and another member using a walker. We were told that it would not be a problem. Once the tour began, the guide and the massive group were off and running, and our friend with a walker was left behind. By the time she was able to catch up to the rest of the group, it was time to move on to the next stop. When another member of our party mentioned this, the guide was short with her. She then managed to call out "the lady with the walker" and move her to the front of the group. I paid more than $70 for my family of five and was very disappointed. I am sure it would have been much more enjoyable with a smaller group. read more
