My wife and I try to do a Segway tour on every trip we take, so when we moved to Richmond we decided it would be a great way to explore our new city. We did the Richmond Landmark Segway Tour and the Hollywood Cemetery Segway Tour with RVA On Wheels and had great experiences both times. I highly recommend their tours to anyone new to the city, visiting, or looking for a fun, new way to explore a city you've long called your own.

We had guests in town for Christmas so we scheduled a tour with RVA On Wheels for a Segway tour of Shockoe Bottom. We started with training on the Segway to learn how to operate it. It was very easy to maneuver and easy to learn. We started the tour near the canal walk and made our way toward Shiplock. Along the way we would stop for points of interest and Jonathan, our tour guide, would tell us history of the area. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting and fun. We definitely learned a lot. The Segways were really fun to ride on. Makes me want to buy one for myself. I would highly recommend RVA On Wheels for their Segway tours. They also rent bikes. I look forward to taking another tour with them in the future.

    They also rent electric bikes!

I bought the Groupon for the Segway tour months in advance. As our trip to Richmond grew nearer, the weather forecast looked drearier and drearier. My husband loves riding segways so we decided to keep the reservation and we are both glad we did. We bundled up (gloves, scarves, winter coats) to ride in the chilly 40 degree weather. The Segways maximum speed is 13 miles per hour. If you haven't been before, it's incredibly easy and quick to get the hang of it. The tour was fun, and informational. The tour visited the Christopher Newport Cross, Browns Island, the site of Edgar Allen Poe's childhood home (spoiler- it's a parking lot), and the Virginia State Capitol. The tour also showcased other fun facts about Richmond. I highly recommend this tour for locals and tourists. Its a fun way to learn more about the city.

I had to get an Uber ride into Carytown from 8 miles out on the trail but Joel assured me they could take it in on Sunday. He said 'we are a full service' bike repair shop and we're open today so bring it in and we'll take a look at it. Upon arrival, I got a professional greeting and Joel gave me a realistic estimate of the cost and the time line for repairs. You got to like that level of service. Like most other shops in Carytown, you will be challenged to find parking. They have no dedicated lot so you'll walk 2 to 3 blocks to find street parking.

Nothing wrong with comparing prices and my friend was gonna buy from recycles even if it was slightly more expensive but just wanted to make sure the difference wasn't crazy. So much for trying to go to the local guy instead of buying from my friends out of town shop. Never making that mistake again.

I spoke to someone who verified the bike and the price. I told him I was traveling an hour to test drive it and he said come on in. When I got there the bike wasn't there. The person there, Max, told me it was the manager I had spoken to. He couldn't find him. He also didn't appear to try too hard. Max made it clear that he wasn't the source of the problem. He also made it clear he was not going to be the source of a solution. Max's only concern was that the issue didn't affect him. When I made my displeasure known, Max told me to leave. The only help he was willing to provide was to help me out the door. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. Carytown Bicycle fails to realize three important elements of business: 1. Business goes where it is welcomed. 2. People spend money where they feel appreciated. 3. In business, everyday is election day and people vote with their wallets. I would not spend a nickel of my hard-earned money in this arctic blast of incompetence and unconcerned indifference. Nor should you. I would not return there if they offered to give me the bike. He also helped me load the bike in my SUV in the rain and was just super pleasant to deal with.

There are parking spots out front, a bus stop, and you can bring your bike inside to shop. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I usually come for local brews, nightingale ice cream sandwiches, or a bike tune up. I love the little local markets we have all around RVA, and the fact that this one doubles as a bike shop is so cool to me. Their bike shop people are down to earth and really help you with any bike needs/concerns you may have. I'd recommend getting your bike fixed here if you're looking for a place. ***PRICE*** Market goods are a bit on the pricier side (think Whole Foods), but they have local and organic products. And it's always great to support a local shop. I haven't gotten a bike tune up from them in a while, but I remember it feeling like a reasonable price. My partner recently had a chain link replaced and brake tune-up and that came out to $30. ***CONCLUSION*** I love Outpost. It's cute, trendy, and local. It does a beautiful job at combining all things Richmond and bikes under one roof.
