We purchased the Vertical Kayak Rack with Bicycle & SUP attachment for our 5th Wheel Grand Design Solitude 369RL. It's the greatest accessory we purchased because it allows us to take even more sports equipment with us: 2 12FT Kayaks, 2 Bicycles, and 11.5FT SUP. Its much easier and safer loading the vertical rack then loading Kayas onto the roof of our pick-up truck. We called the company to ask if the rack would work on our 5th wheel trailer to carry our sports equipment. Larry, the owner, clearly explained everything was custom made and as long as we had the required hitch receiver, he could build the rack to our specifications. He did clearly explain that returns were not usually accepted unless it was a manufacturing defect (made sense to me). Larry also informed me, 12FT kayaks exceeded the maximum recommended height but should be doable given the height of the RV. We first needed to get the proper hitch receiver and had to work fast to get the rack before we traveled south for the winter. In late September, I contacted Larry to start the process buying the Vertical Kayak Rack. I was very careful taking the measurements to prevent any mistakes. Even so, Larry found an error and asked me to remeasure specific ones. Because Larry was intimately familiar with the RV hitch and his product design, he saved me from having the hitch built to wrong specs. That gave me more confidence in his expertise and product. Because it was so close to leaving for the winter, we drove to his facility to make sure there would be no problems once I was home. I was very nervous because the rack design depended on my measurements and because of my long kayaks. We stayed overnight in Larry's parking lot with power an water graciously supplied. Larry and his assistant took hours to install our rack and make necessary adjustments to fit my rack. They also had to remove it and add a riser due to the wrong ground measurement I gave him. They showed me the assembly and installation in case I ever needed to remove the rack and demonstrated how to load/upload our sports equipment. I was very impressed with the design, his attention to detail and his patience. I had a million questions and was still nervous because of the load at the rear of my RV. Larry addressed all my questions and showed us how his design accounted for everything, even items to facilitate a single person loading/unloading the rack. I left there knowing I had a quality product and great after sales support. On the way home, I drove over a tire on the interstate. There was no damage to the rack and I had more questions for Larry, He had tons of patience answering my questions. After I was home, I drove a chase car behind the trailer watching the vertical rack as the trailer travelled over bumps and pot-holes. The rack base was rock solid and the top cage barely moved just as Larry claimed. And although Larry told me the vertical stabilizer plate was not required as my receiver tube was welded sufficiently to my frame and bumper, I decided to order it. I bought this Rack this is the 3rd summer I have used it. My Wife and I love it, we can not only carry our Kayaks where ever we go but we can also carry our bikes with the Kayaks. We have gone out west to Yellowstone, Pikes Peak, Glacier Park, have Gone south to Kentucky and Florida to see Family and North to Prince Edwards Island. My Point is we have never had a problem, the Kayaks, bikes and the rack are locked so when not in use they are secure. Its nice to go places and if you see a good place to Kayak you can, Before this rack the Kayaks sat at home unless we went Kayaking somewhere and had to use the truck, so it only became a day trip. I do have a back up camera on the motorhome and this Kayak rack does not block the camera, I can still see and use it. My wife gets a little OMG (when we camp) you have another person looking at your Kayak Rack. Every Time I go camping I have people stop and ask if I made the rack or where they can buy one. I have had people follow me into Gas stations asking me where I bought it. I do have 10 ' Kayaks and it sets perfect on my rig. It is high enough off the ground so I do not scrape the ground and the top of the Kayaks are level with my vent covers on the roof. I am a Journey Maintenance Mechanic or Millwright since 1984, the quality of the build is top notch, Welds are clean with perfect nickels, Its made heavy and strong well engineered even have hitch clamps to help with movement. I actually enjoy since I bought it for I get a lot of attention where ever I camp and I get to meet and talk to a lot of new people. I would highly recommend looking at this rack system but I am getting ahead of myself. For those who are looking for a solution to their kayak/SUP/bike transportation issues revolving around the RV lifestyle, you need to consider RV Kayak Racks. We purchased a 5th wheel trailer and needed to find a solution transport our bikes and kayaks. I looked at different options but I kept coming back to RV Kayak Racks for I liked the ease of loading, added security features and the fact that the kayaks would not obscure my view if mounted over the top of my pickup. He was very helpful having provided me with a great deal of information revolving around the capability and features of the rack system as well as the ordering process. This has been a game changer for me as I no longer have to share my space with a kayak and bike frame and thus don't have to leave my loved ones behind. My biggest concerns were safety related (will it stay on? will it obstruct my rear view? etc) and I am completely satisfied on that front after the half dozen test flights I have taken. The construction is solid and doesn't interfere with my rear view mirror or camera---I no longer look at the camera while driving as I figure someone else will tell me if my rack fell off! Or the guy videotaping my RV will post it to youtube. And once I realized that a bicyclist hadn't driven up the rear of my RV, I could focus on what was ahead of me. My rack is the one kayak / one bike model and it is well balanced above the trailer hitch with no sway. On and offloading is different than car top carriers and will require some relearning of weight distribution and balance but I can literally get my kayak up and down in less than 5 minutes (versus 10 or so with car top). I had Larry and his team install the rack system and show me all the ins and outs which was additionally assuring and quite rewarding. It was worth the 3 hour drive for me to meet some nice folks and see upstate NY in early spring. I added some carpeting as padding in the kayak well to minimize effect of dirt and rocks which will jump up from the road (kudos to Larry for that tip) and some rubber foam on the top rail that the kayak rests on to fit the curve of my cockpit. Larry and the guys custom built a rack for our 4x4 Sprinter Sportsmobile camper van. It is one of the few products we have bought in life that combines an exceptionally well engineered design with top quality construction. We can load and lock our two Dagger 9-ft kayaks and our two mountain e-bikes in a fraction of the time it takes others to hoist their yaks up on top of their RV's. The rack was delivered partly assembled and was packed in a safe and secure manner to withstand shipping. Final assembly was easy and was explained in a clear and concise manner in the included directions. As others mentioned in their reviews, all items necessary to secure the kayaks and bikes was included, even three keyed-alike padlocks to prevent kayak theft. The receiver clamping block included with the rack surprisingly removes any and all wobble from the rack while driving. It makes the rack perform like it is welded to the frame while still keeping it easily removable from the vehicle. The only thing we had to purchase was a locking cable to attach our bikes to the rack. This would be the same type of cable that most people would already have to lock their bikes to a tree or a light post while riding. read more

We are well pleased with our kayak/bike rack. We are full time rv'ing and I get people inspecting my Rv rack all the time. People comment all the time how well built the unit looks. Our rack had to accomadate the rear slide on our motor home and be able to slide away from the motor home. We did not want to remove kayaks and bikes every time we set up camp. We worked with Larry by email and phone with our many questions as well as providing our motor home measurements. In order to accomadate the sliding rack system I would need to lower my hitch by 2 1/2 inches. Larry fabricated a riser on to the rack system to make up for the difference. We have been using the rack for a few months now and are very happy with it. We were camping in the Adirondacks recently and stopped at RVKR and had Larry and the gang take a look. Just received my rack last week. My first impression was 'wow this was done fast' from the time i placed my order to arrival just nine days. My Kayaks fit perfectly in the stainless steel pans. I was a little intimidated by this sturdy rack at first but the assembly was surprisingly easy and the instructions included pictures to help. Even just the act of placing the order was a pleasure. The owner and inventor Larry Gray walked me through the process of obtaining the proper measurements. The rack itself is every bit as impressive and easy to use as it looked on the website. RV Kayak Racks have such a wonderful product. There customer service was outstanding, which made it very easy for me talk with them about their product and how it worked before ordering. My husband and I purchased our custom KR2B56 Rack, which perfectly allows my husband and I to use our 10' and 11' Wilderness Tarpon kayaks. Loading the kayaks into the custom guards were easy as can be. It came with all the straps and cables to lock the kayaks tightly in place. The bikes were a breeze too. We simply attached the top tire to the bike hook, allowing us to be hands free to strap the rest of the bike to the rack. Another plus for this amazing rack would be how easy it was to set up. I needed a rack for my class C RV that would carry kayaks, and bicycles but that also had the ability to carry a tandem bike. After chatting with the owner, we ordered a rack that was perfect for our needs. The rack was easy to assemble and easy to install on the RV but it is quite heavy so requires two people to take it on and off. We cannot store it on the RV due to a limited length in the storage structure. We have travelled extensively with the rack and it performs perfectly. it does sit rather low behind the RV so in driving, we have to be careful to not go up or down steep hills or it will bottom out. We travel with friends that have the same rack and they are equally pleased. We get lots of visitors where we are parked looking at our kayak/bike racks. read more

Incredible company. The product is awesome. It holds our kayaks and bikes securely, is easy to load and fits our RV perfectly. But best of all is Larry, the owner. He always answers the phone, he immediately sent out a missing cable, no questions asked. Larry answered questions on how to best load the rack. I have used the RV Kayak Rack for one full season and will be starting on my second season soon. We have traveled over 6000 miles throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest with two Eddyline Sky 10 Kayaks on the back of a Grand Designs (Reflection) Fifth Wheel. The rack has proven to be very stable and the boats are very secure in the rack. I can even load and unload them by myself, although it is somewhat easier as a two person task. We have loved taking our Kayaks, SUPs, surfboards, and bikes with us all over the country! These racks are built to last and easy to use! We have a Redwood RV fifth wheel and we're looking for a way to bring our two 10 ft. Kayaks with us. After researching and reading many reviews of many different racks we decided on the RVkayak . There are some other cheaper ones out there ,but you get what you pay for. The quality and construction of this rack is superb.all locks and cables were included . The rack came in a large 100 lb. box in three sections that bolted together with grade 8 stainless bolts. We just made a four hour trip in the RV and the kayaks are as secure as when we left. What a GREAT rack. Have had my rack for over a year and have no complaints or issues. Just returned from a 2,000 mile trip to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. I have 2 11 1/2 foot Ocean Kayaks which fit perfectly in the rack along with two bikes. Before ordering my rack I called Larry (owner) and he spent probably 20 minutes answering all of the many questions I had about the rack. I have seen a lot of homemade racks in my travels but have not seen anything that compares to the RV Rack, I never have to worry about seeing my kayaks,bikes and rack falling off my RV in my rear view camera. read more

I purchased my SUP Rack several years ago and have used it extensively. Our first trip was to Southern Utah to paddle board and mountain bike. While going through Nevada we encountered a very strong thunderstorm while driving our Class C Motor-home. I had 2 SUP's and 2 bikes on the rack and the wind was extremely strong but everything held up perfectly as advertised. In those types of weather conditions you appreciate the sturdiness of the design and the quality materials used. This rack rocks! Owned it less than a year and have taken it across 27 states and parts of Canada. While not cheap, you get what you pay for. Does not significantly obstruct the view from our camera. So simple to get bikes and kayaks off. Just get used to a lot of people taking pictures of your rig and a lot of questions at RV parks. And the customer service thus far has been exceptional. We have the two bike and two kayak combo on a 2017 Forest River Forester. Went cross country for 3 1/2 months. Worked very well. Designed is excellent. Service was very good through ordering and installation phase. Have had no issues. We have not found many options to put these items on a class C motorhome.
