Terrible customer service and on top of that, the owner gave us broken bikes. We rented 2 bikes for…read morethe day which was $40 each. The owner didn't provide us with bike locks or baskets and did not specify when to return the bikes. We couldn't step foot into the shop, had to stand outside and couldn't choose which bike we wanted. My father who is a mountain biker noticed that the bike he gave me had broken gears and the front tire was flat. The owner then rode it around the parking lot, didn't say anything, and gave me a new bike. Then, after a short bike ride, my boyfriend noticed the same thing was wrong with his bike, not going into gear. The owner clearly doesn't check his bikes, care about safety, or his customers. When we told him about the issues with the bikes, all he said was "ok." We only rented them here because it was so close to where we were staying in Lake George, but if we were renting them longer, we would have opted for a different place and I highly recommend you do the same. Not only will your patronage be a hassle, but you will be ripped off or hurt from their terrible bikes.

What I'm trying to say is that I took up biking for exercise. I found a couple of beat up bikes to ride, but they needed some love. One tire was about to bust, the other's rear hub was a minor issue and needed new tubes and tires, so I looked around and found this shop. Bike Works knows their biz. It's not a huge shop, but the people are cool, and the mechanics know bikes. They quickly looked mine over, diagnosed the problems, and told me it might be a few days because they weren't sure if they had the right size tires in at the moment, or if they had to get them from the supplier in a couple days. (I don't know if it's this pandemic or if they are always this slammed, but it seems like half the area knows they're the best, because they're busy, too.) Turned out they had the tires, because they called me the next day to tell me I was good to go. I'm no expert either, but judging by the prices of tires and tubes I found online, they didn't charge too much for labor, which is nice. When I have more bike issues, I'm definitely coming back this way.

I ordered my bike and my rack on July 1 and although I do understand that summertime is busy, I was told my E bike and rack should arrive within two weeks. It took three weeks for the delivery and it took another additional week for my bike to get assembled so that I could come pick it up, which was disappointing. Then another major disappointment, my bike rack arrived without all of the parts so I am unable to transport my bike using my bike rack. It is now been an additional four weeks while I'm waiting for this one part to come in and here it is September 4. Bottom line is is I'm not happy with customer service support! The bike rack should've been ordered with the correct parts and the staff did admit that they forgot to order the part that I needed so that I could secure my bike because it has fenders. I can understand forgetting once but now it's been an additional month with a bike rack that I cannot use because the bike cannot be properly secured. Then I was told that they would order it right away and send me the tracking number and have it shipped directly to my house and it's been over two weeks and I still haven't received the tracking number, so I don't know if the part has been ordered yet and it's on its way or not. Even stopping at the shop in personand asking did not net me any answers. Not impressed!

I stated that I would be stopping by on the morning of Sunday the 14th to check it out and purchase it. I was told the bike would be ready and waiting for me. I arrived at the shop on Sunday 11am only to discover the bike had not been pulled, unboxed and assembled yet--a process that takes between an hour to an hour and a half. I had just driven 96mi/2 hours to get there only to learn they failed to follow through with having the bike ready & waiting. As I left the shop, the Owner stopped me outside stating that he wanted to "help me". I asked him what exactly he meant by that, to which he responded "I'll have the bike built for you right now." Now, I'm thinking to myself this guy didn't have time to get it right prior to my arrival; yet, suddenly has found the time--My Time--to get it right after my arrival? Really? That's how it's done? I told the Owner I don't do business like this. No reputable business does. Since when did it become acceptable to presume upon a potential customers time? My plans for the day did not include waiting 1 1/2 hours for a bike build. This guy didn't even offer to buy me a cup of coffee while I waited. Furthermore, what prevented them from calling me ahead of time to inform me the bike wouldn't be ready & waiting? They had a day and a half! Also, I couldn't help but wonder as I drove home, if the Owner lost sight of the fact that as a paying customer, I was there to Help him and not the other way around. He needed to sell the bike; I don't need to buy. Lastly, if they can't be counted upon to assemble a bike when they said they would, or at least make a simple heads-up courtesy phone call, then what is there to make me think they can follow through with anything else?
