I would definitely NOT recommend this provider. While I believe she is knowledgeable in her field, she acted in quite an unprofessional manner - very unexpectedly terminating our relationship during a stressful and busy time of year, without notice. The reasoning for this was that I incorrectly believed I had cancelled through her (not very user friendly) on-line booking system, which apparently was not deleted on her end. Seeing other reviews I know I am not alone in having issues with this - although she blatantly lied to me saying no one else had complained to her about such problems. She further sent me what I would consider to be unprofessional and condescending emails, and (unhelpfully) referred me to a provider who was not taking new patients. There is clearly a reason she has so much availability in a climate where the waiting lists for Behavioral Health specialists in the state are very long. She ultimately left me feeling vulnerable and upset. Don't be fooled by her inviting office. Steer clear. read more

I know Dr. Carp on a professional level through LinkedIn and had an opportunity to correspond with Dr. Carp on a very serious psychiatric family matter. I am not her patient, therefore she was not going to be compensated for her valuable time. Didn't show up for a scheduled appointment and blamed the system for it. Refuses to give us credit for it even though her policy demands payment if we are a no-show. This appointment was a my first appointment with her and as I hadn't been to a Physiatrist in over 15 years I did not know how to approach it. She was very standoff-ish and did not see like she wanted to talk. After a long search I am very glad I have found Dr. Carp. She has been and continues to be a pleasure to work with and her guidance and counseling have been extremely helpful to me in my life. While I cannot go into details, I have had many challenging, affirming and insightful sessions and I look forward to more to come. She has tailored her approach to meet my needs and has keep me interested in actively working on my personal goals. For physical review I find her office to be a warm and comforting place. After some very, very hard days it is a quiet area that is soothing to my often frazzled nerves. This is the WORST provider I have ever had to deal with - In 5 scheduled appointments, she saw my daughter 3 times and blew us off twice (meaning she cancelled us within hours, or the last time when she texted me at 4PM for a 4:15 apt that she had a "family emergency". This was 2nd time family emergency for her but luckily the first one we hadn't left the house yet). She is as unprofessional as I have ever seen and I might find out how to formally make a complaint about her to the medical board. Her emails and texts are RUDE for a so-called psychiatrist. I made an apt for late afternoon on Friday 10 days in advance and then she texts me 10 min before apt to say "Friday is my VERY early day so I have left the office". A poor listener, she kept telling us we were insulting to her as we were trying to explain our concerns regarding the child. Dr. Carp shows consideration for her own time as if it is more valuable than the patient's time! On one occasion she said she had (oops) double booked me, so that appointment never happened. On a different occasion, she forgot to write my appointment in her schedule and her office was closed. I waited 30 minutes for her and she never arrived. She was quite unprofessional with her replies to me when corresponding, as if I was 5 years old. I informed her early in the morning that I didn't feel well enough to get to the appointment that day and she actually said "I still have to come to work when I don't feel well!" Really?? Very hard to find a good doctor in this field. We filled out all necessary paperwork required by Dr. Carp. Also signed the cancellation policy which states a 48 hour notice must be given prior to appointment cancellations. This form also explained that If you cancel a Monday appointment, you must call the office by the Thursday prior to the appointment as Saturday and Sunday are omitted from the 48 hour terms. That being said, our first appointment was scheduled at noon on a Thursday. As I sat in the waiting area near Dr. Carp's office, I received an email from her explaining that she cannot make the appointment and will see me at 1:00 pm the following day. That was a sure sign that this doctor was not going to work out. When I replied to her email saying that the new appointment won't be necessary as I expect the same courtesy from her that she expects from me, she responded by saying: "Be well angry madame." read more

Dr. Carp was well worth the 45 minutes from my house in Merrimac, MA to her office in Winchester, MA. My 20 year old daughter (her new client) and I were looking for a psychiatrist who has a background/training in treating people on the Autism Spectrum. We found the ideal person to fit that role, Dr. Carp, on Psychology Today's website. We were extremely pleased with the 1st session (A 1 hour appointment). My daughter was comfortable speaking to Dr. Carp about the issue my daughter and I were not seeing eye to eye on. My daughter is usually not as relaxed with other mental health professionals as quickly as she was with Dr. Carp. I was in the waiting room early because I didn't get a chance to fill out my paper work. She forgot to turn on the white noise and I heard everything that was said in her paper thin walls. She ran 15 minutes late. When I asked her for the paperwork she said she didn't have any forms on hand so I gave her the pertinent information to get paid. Warning: When you go in to your initial appointment, do not spill your guts! Realize that she is actually interviewing you! When I opened up about my life crisis, we really seemed to connect. After she sent me numerous texts and emails telling me how nice it was to meet me, and checking on my day and asking me for my paperwork. One week later, she fired me as a patient and said we were not a match. I asked her what I did or said and she said it was her. She didn't feel comfortable. This came out of left field! I felt so betrayed and now I won't trust the next psychiatrist in fear she will get rid of me as a patient also. She interrupted my daughter constantly, talked at length about her own childhood experiences, and when my daughter stood up for herself and asked to be able to speak without interruption during her session, she suggested we increase my daughter's medication. I am divorced and living in another country and she was hinting at getting child care services to investigate our family. Absolutely shocking that she would go to those lengths. Dr. Carp is the perfect blend of medical and holistic treatment. She is knowledgeable yet caring and I love that she not only prescribes but does talk therapy as well. I had been seeing a psychologist before I started with Dr. Carp and I had gotten to the point where I felt I needed the help of medicine. I didn't want to give up all the progress I had made through my talk therapy, so Dr Carp was the perfect fit because she did both! I believe that having her know me more personally helped in the prescribing of the right medicines. And when something didn't seem to work with a certain medication, it was seamless to change because she already knew where my areas of progress and weakness were. She also helped me through some mental blocks of mine through the use of meditation, we even discuss what I experience in my yoga classes outside of my sessions as a truly well rounded approach to my therapy. I came to Dr. Carp in the midst of a hip reconstruction surgery and a death in the family and I felt very lost. Dr. Carp helped me tap into my innate areas of strength and she tailored a treatment plan that was wholly unique to me and my needs. I have an educational background in both the hard sciences and the arts, so Dr. Carps use of both research backed science in conjunction with holistic approaches was a perfect fit for me. I don't believe I would have been able to handle these circumstances the way I have if it weren't for Dr. Carp and her well rounded treatments. I highly recommend. read more

Now our entire family is part of her practice. She is caring, intuitive, and very knowledgeable about psychiatry. We have all developed a great, working professional relationship. Dr. Carp is a phenomenal "family oriented" psychiatrist. After searching near and far for the right practitioner for my family's needs, we were so lucky to have found her and don't mind travelling from Newton to see her! Within the first few moments of our initial session she shared with us her education, her philosophy and her enthusiasm for working with families. As a family we all felt as if our concerns were heard and considered. We always leave our sessions with new tools in our virtual toolkit to apply to life's challenges. Dr. Carp takes as much time as needed to identify if medication is appropriate and if so what will work best. She readily communicates potential side effects so that her patients are aware of what to expect. In instances where she was prescribing for one of my children, she "read the mood" in the office to ensure that it was appropriate for her to share details of side effects and would certainly hold back if she sensed it would make the child anxious to hear them. We are very grateful we are for Dr. Carp. When I need help for my son, I got a list of providers from insurance. She is the closest to my home so after reading many positive views of her on line we gave her a try. She has made an amazing difference in our lives. Firstly, it was easy to make an appointment with her and we got right in. She has a lovely comforting office and we usually don't wait more than a few minutes for her. She has great diagnostic abilities and was able to make a diagnosis and treatment plan pretty quickly. She explained everything very thoroughly and made sure we understood what each medicine is for and the potential side effects. When we had an emergency we were able to get right in to see her and she made a plan to get my son through a very traumatic experience. Everyone, including his pediatrician is quite amazed at how my son was able to get over this event with no lasting side effects. For that I will be forever grateful to Dr. Carp. Additionally with one comment about my other son she told me he probably needed treatment too. She was absolutely spot on with that diagnosis as well. We have been very pleased with the results we are seeing through Dr. Carp's guidance. The booking process couldn't be any easier. Pick a date, pick a time, and book it. Our initial visits went way over our allotted time and Dr. Carp was kind enough to extend our visit in order to address our concerns.
