I typically go into a sushi place with lower expectations, but Kemuri far exceeded my expectations!…read moreOur server was super friendly and attentive, and we were overwhelmed by the large menu but the happy hour specials were great and we ended up all ordering sushi. We started with spicy edamame and calamari, I'd highly recommend both! For sushi, I got the crazy monkey roll (a fan favorite, they light it on fire at your table!) and a spicy tuna roll. We shared a cucumber avocado roll, and the others got dragon rolls, crispy shrimp, and shrimp tempura. We were happy with all of our orders and left stuffed! Would recommend to all sushi lovers.

We sat at the bar (different from the sushi bar, which is also an option) and had a very attentive and knowledgeable bartender. I tried the local filtered sake (who knew that Arkansas produces a large percentage of the country's rice?) and it was very nice. We each got a ramen bowl and a sushi roll. I got the wild salmon roll as I generally prefer simple rolls. The roll was very heavy on the rice, less so on the actual salmon. It was still nicely prepared and tasted good, but maybe not worth the price when you consider how little salmon you're getting out of it. I also got the Tonkotsu Ramen Bowl and added duck to it. The bowl was tasty, but slightly mild/bland -- to be fair, I asked them not to include the jalapeno because I'm terrible at handling any amount of spice. It was a generous serving and I happily took half of it home for lunch the next day. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here and I didn't think the prices were outrageous. It's a nice atmosphere that can lend itself to cozy casual or intimate, and I wouldn't mind coming back here even if it doesn't top my list. Definitely worth a visit to decide for yourself.

We walked in and piano music was playing, the environment was calming, and the service was outstanding! I used to live in South Korea, and the food made me feel right at home.

He visited Kiyen's a year ago and reported a positive experience. I grew up in Hawaii eating Japanese cuisine prepared by Japanese family members and have traveled to Japan, too. I was excited to visit Kiyen's! Positive: owner was energetic and lovely! She took our orders and served our meals and was the best part of this place = 10/5 stars! I ordered two items for dinner: shrimp tempura and sushi with salmon. Not-so-positive: ordered udon and was told they ran out. Then ordered chicken katsu and was told they ran out of that, too, so ordered tempura and sushi after waiting 25 min. Should have stuck with gut feeling and ordered something other than sushi. While food presentation was appealing, flavor was lackluster and disappointing. Five out of 8 members in our party ordered sushi: rice wasn't seasoned or compacted well when preparing, each bite portion fell apart when picking up with chopsticks. Couldn't pick up and turn each piece to lightly dip salmon part (not rice) into soy sauce. Wasabi was tinted a fake green color, tasted weird and unauthentic but had a sharp bite. Soy sauce was watery and neither wasabi nor soy enhanced sushi flavor, which was needed because salmon was flavorless and fillings did not help = 2/5. Tempura arrived pale, limp and soggy, flavor lacking = 3/5. Overall: ambience and menu options were fine but food preparer appeared to lack experience in sushi making and was unable to keep up with orders. We waited for meals longer than expected, and when they did arrive, we ate in silence rather than boasting about what we each had ordered.

Here for work and was craving some good Filipino food & after some googling, this was the closest…read morespot to me and it was absolutely worth the drive from Little Rock! I had the pork dinaguan with rice (you can choose from regular steamed, garlic fried, or veggie fried rice...love having options!) and lumpia with a chili dipping sauce. I like my dinaguan on the soupier side, and this one delivered *just* the right amount of spice. So good! I also ordered a side of mung beans and loved them. Super flavorful, and you can get them plain or with pork, which is a nice touch. My partner had the pancit bihon and really enjoyed it; the serving size was massive, just FYI! For dessert I ordered a halo-halo to go. The flan and ube ice cream combined with all the fillings at the bottom made my inner child so happy. Hadn't had halo-halo in a while and this was such a lovely surprise. The customer service was fantastic and at one point one of the owners came out to check on us, which made the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming. Also got excited seeing all the silog options on the menu- definitely trying one of those next time! Seriously, go check this place out. You won't regret it!

Authentic Filipino Food and a Memorable Experience!…read more If you're looking for true Filipino food -- not fusion, not "modernized" -- Kusina Cuisine is the real deal. Everything about our meal felt like a taste of the Philippines. I ordered the Combo #3 BBQ Skewer with pancit and lumpia, and every bite was delicious. The noodles were a little different than I've had before -- shorter pieces instead of long strands -- but they were seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. The lumpia were long, crispy, and felt like a great value for the price. The pork BBQ skewers were tender, smoky, and had just the right amount of sweetness. For dessert, we tried the Banana Lumpia with Ube Ice Cream, and honestly, it was one of the best desserts I've ever had -- warm, crispy banana rolls with creamy Ube ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate. Absolute perfection! Beyond the food, the hospitality made the visit unforgettable. We were so excited to be there that we asked our server to take a picture of us with our food. Before he could, someone who we think was the owner came by, smiled, and playfully pushed the server into the booth with us -- so now we have a great photo with our server! It perfectly sums up the friendly, family-style atmosphere. If you're anywhere near Jacksonville and craving authentic Filipino cooking, you need to check this place out. The food, the people, and the experience are all top-notch.
