I love the neighborhood feel of the place, it doesn't feel like a big chain or like a sterile med spa. It was a perfect setting. I scheduled a back facial with Danielle ahead of a wedding in which I was a bridesmaid and I was no disappointed at all! The facial itself was lovely of course, but what stands out the most to me are two things: 1) I felt incredibly comfortable with Danielle. I am a shy and introverted person, and I've learned to how to be comfortable in spa settings, but the wrong vibes from the person providing the service and I close right back up and get tense. This was NOT the case with Danielle and I am so thankful for that. Even after the appointment, I genuinely felt comfortable coming back; she made me feel like I was already a regular and that's something that can't be said for most - or any really place I've been before. 2) Similar to #1 - I felt relaxed! I still remember slowly dozing off at one point - and who can say that after having some extractions on their back?! I've since moved out of Annapolis but still have this place bookmarked for if I ever want to have an amazing facial for an event (definitely worth the drive).

CRU-MM is one of those places. I remember that I was looking for an aesthetician at the time, and I was very impressed with CRU'MM's marketing materials and results. So I made an appointment for a facial and had a good experience overall. I remember Regina being very kind, her salon being very calming (with free snacks), and the facial itself being very good (notwithstanding a nasty acne bump I had on my face at the time). I have no complaints about the facial itself. The only reason I give the experience 4 (instead of 5) stars is because I remember a few things that were less than ideal. First, there is not clear communication about the exact location of the salon within the building, so that leads to unnecessary confusion after you arrive. Also, if I recall correctly, Regina was running a bit behind on the day I went, so I recall having to sit in a small waiting area while waiting for my appointment to finally start. There was one other couple there, and they were watching some kind of raunchy video on speaker. So it was not a relaxing or edifying experience before the facial began. Thankfully, the energy was very different inside Regina's salon once my appointment actually got started. In sum, I only visited once. But I had a good experience overall. Although it was not convenient enough of a location for me to continue going (such that I eventually found an amazing black aesthetician in Bethesda that I've been using for all these many years), I would still recommend that anyone in the Lanham area check CRU-MM out!

Thankfully, I was able to book an appointment at the same time as hers, and I'm so glad I did! I booked my massage with Josh, and he was AMAZING! This was my first time ever booking a massage with a male massage therapist, and although I had some initial reservations, I was open to trying something different. Josh quickly put me at ease with his professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness. He took the time to ask about my problem areas, check in about my preferred level of pressure, and make sure I was comfortable throughout the entire session. What I appreciated most was that he went beyond simply providing a massage. He offered helpful suggestions for stretches and even recommended specific areas I should have my massage therapist focus on when I returned home. The entire experience was wonderful, and I left feeling GREAT! My time and money were absolutely well spent. Josh provided excellent service, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The hot towels were completely skipped, and when I asked because I was still covered in oil, the therapist laughed and said they weren't ready. I reported the issue immediately and was told management would contact me. I followed up again and emailed management directly on September 8. It is now September 11, and I've received no response. I also requested the cancellation policy for my membership and still haven't received it. Mistakes happen. This could have been easily fixed with good customer service. The massage started the problem. Being ignored is what lost me as a customer.

I planned a spa day for my husband's birthday well in advance. The day before his appointment, I received a call informing me that the esthetician who performs the facials was sick, so that portion of his appointment would need to be rescheduled. Although I was annoyed, I chose to make the best of it and keep the remaining services. About an hour later, I received another call from the spa saying his appointment time had to occur at a later time than I booked. After multiple changes, inconvenience, and uncertainty, I decided to cancel the entire appointment. I requested a full refund. I spoke with the manager, and the owner personally called me to apologize and assured me that I would receive a full refund. I appreciated the apology, accepted it, and moved on. Imagine my surprise when I received my credit card statement and discovered that I had been charged the full amount for a spa day that never happened. I immediately contacted the spa and spoke with the manager, but the explanations I received for why the refund had not been processed were unconvincing and frustrating. After everything that happened, I should not have had to chase down money that I was already promised would be refunded. I'm now being told that I will actually receive my full refund. That remains to be seen. The entire experience has been frustrating, to say the least. Customer service isn't just about apologizing, it's about following through! Unfortunately, this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be patronizing Sensory Sentiments again. To the owner, manager and staff...DO BETTER!
