This is a favorite. Grilled Fish tacos, fried shrimp tacos, The Texican, and the Brisket tacos -- rich flavors and delicious. And a bargain at only a couple bucks each. Street style tacos with clean, peaceful setting and without all the annoyances or pains of the "street." The churros are somehow incredible- I've come just for the churros. They're that good. Tigers blood margarita is just right - not too sweet or syrupy. I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco. First, I would like to say that what I ate tasted good. But.... The shrimp taco had those little bitty shrimp and had a grand total of 4 of them. Didn't come close to filling up the small, thin tortilla they use but the taste was good. They also cut their limes into such tiny portions they are almost invisible and impossible to squeeze. The fish taco pissed me off. Yes it tasted good, but they use SMALL tortillas and the fish was only 2/3rds of the tortilla. A tiny bit of cabbage and cilantro. It's a runner up to one of my fave taco places. The margaritas are amazing for the price and the fried chicken taco is the best!!! Queso is a must for an appetizer and if you have room for dessert - the churros are amazing with the caramel filling. I was highly disappointed with Rusty Taco. We went for dinner and ordered a brisket taco, fish taco, spicy chicken taco, and the fajita chicken taco. The brisket taco was EXTREMELY dry and bland. The Spicy Chicken taco was "ok". I personally didn't like the taste of it and ended up not eating it. The Fajita Chicken Taco was the best. The chicken had great flavor and if I ever go back I would probably stick with this one. The Fish one was disgusting. The fish was tough and we couldn't even chew it. Awful. Staff was nice and friendly, the store was really clean for how busy they were, but I wasn't crazy about the tacos. I tried 3 different tacos. The #13 Texican Taco was great, the #8 Baja Grilled Shrimp Taco was made of salad shrimp so I didn't care for it, and the #9 Rusty Taco was just okay. I didn't care for the pineapple being cold on it but that's a personal preference. The Tres Grande was better than the tacos and the queso was pretty awesome. However, I do think you should get two baskets of chips when getting the Tres Grande. For our family of 4 the bill was about $41 which I felt was a little too pricey for tacos. When we started eating at home the bowl was over 75% rice and barely 25% of the toppings. Making thing worse the rice was "old". The rice was clumpy, hard, sticky, and crunchy. Came in and it wasn't busy but for whatever reason every single table was dirty and covered in tortilla chips. Cashier cleaned off one (the smallest one) and went back to hanging out at counter. The brisket taco was ok, the fried chicken taco is delicious, and the fish taco was had a nice smoky sauce. When I return, I'll probably get at least 2-3 of the fried chicken taco. R Taco is a wonderful and tasty restaurant that I really enjoyed! I have been back multiple times and each time it only gets better. The inside of the restaurant is very rustic and spacious. The seating is comfortable and the ordering process is very simple. There are plenty of delicious tacos to choose from, including my favorite, the fried chicken taco. I also love their cheap stiff margaritas that you can get in a few different flavors. The tacos are reasonably priced to where you can have multiples and still still spend less than twenty dollars for two. If you enjoy alcoholic beverages there are plenty to choose from that are reasonably priced as well, especially during their happy hour. The tacos tasted like a homestyle fried chicken meal, put inside of a taco with fried chicken, coleslaw, and spicy ranch. It was delightful and I've gotten it and many others since. On a recent return visit Tommy hometown of Beaumont I was introduced to R Taco. I went there four times in less than two weeks! The happy hour margaritas (We like the cheap stuff margaritas better than the fancy stuff) made this the perfect place to meet friends and the tacos are great!
