We went here for a weekday lunch, and the place wasn't busy at all. The waitress was friendly and told us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. What shocked me was the food quality. This place has 700+ reviews with a 4.5-star rating, so I honestly didn't think twice before going. I'm still wondering where we went wrong. Ordered: * Super Nachos ($20.63) - Barely any cheese or chicken. Mostly nachos covered with lettuce, jalapeños, and olives. It felt more like eating a dry salad. * Fresh Fried Shrooms ($14.90) - Completely soaked in oil. Slightly better than the nachos, but still disappointing. * Grilled Chicken Wrap ($16.04) with onion ring substitute (+$2.08) - Average at best and definitely not worth the price. We also asked if the grilled chicken wrap could be split into two, and she nicely served it on two separate plates with onion rings on the side, which I appreciated. The service itself was decent. Everything felt extremely overpriced for the quality served. Sadly, this ended up being one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had. OK you say well it's just a bar. Yes it is with lots of TVs and a wide variety of drinks and beers. However we had a fantastic time there. We actually had a place next to the bar and entrance and did not have any trouble having pleasant conversations with family members trying to catch up. The food was great! Of the 6 of us, 4 had hamburgers (their specialty) and nobody was disappointed. The others had sandwiches. Everything was delicious. Melissa our server was SO GOOD! Stopped in for a drink a couple of years ago and thought we'd come back for a burger some day. Took longer than we expected, but we weren't disappointed by our return trip. I got the mushroom-swiss burger, my wife got the All-American. At the Rusy Nail, you can order your burger "pink" or "no pink." I like a burger with quite a bit of pink, though usually I'm happy to get any at all if I order one "medium." We both ordered "pink" and both came firmly in the zone of "medium." Good start. The meat had good flavor and the half-pound patty didn't leave us wanting more. Mushrooms on my burger were nicely grilled. Service was a little slow, but they may have been short staffed. Our server was Amber and she was very patient while we visited before we ordered which I thought was a very nice thing to do. Always wanted to stop in and see what awaited me inside... well, finally opened the to doors to an amazing and friendly bar! While we didn't have any food, we were told by the wonderful wait staff that the burgers were supper tasty. I am sure we will come back and give them a try. This place ticks all my boxes: divey, good food and drinks, and keno. Add in to the mix a nice staff and friendly folks and you have the Rusty Nail. Growing up on the east side of metro Detroit and now not even living in Michigan it was by sheer luck I found this place. I make it a point to visit at least once or twice when I'm in town though. The bartenders and servers are great and the food is really good not just for bar food but overall. I love the soft pretzels and cheese sauce. The pretzels are buttery and full of flavor. I've never had them anywhere else as good as here. Sandwiches and burgers are also a solid choice. They even have pierogies on the menu they get from a local polish market. Prices are not cheap but for the quality of food and drinks the Rusty Nail nails it! read more

I have been coming here for about two years now, and I still love it. It's a great little hole in the wall bar with cheap drinks and good food. They have trivia here three nights a week, which is a blast. The waitresses are all nice, but sometimes the service can be slow when they are busy and only have a few people waiting tables. We've been in here a couple times. The first time was years ago and the waitress was super rude to us. We didn't go back for quite a while. Since then we've had good service. The food is good, but expensive. My husband and I are bud light drinkers and they only have miller light on tap (which I think is gross!!). Yes I'm a beer snob. So I got a couple bud light bottles. They're $4.25 each! I thought that was pretty over priced, but I also don't usually buy bottles so I don't have much to compare it to. They have keno, which we LOVE! Been coming here with friends for years now since I had some pals that lived in the neighborhood. Visits used to be more frequent and nowadays we only come in when certain pals are in from out of town and back home in Canton but it still feels very welcoming and regular. In fact, I always get a little excited when I'm going to the Nail because I know that it means that some of my favorite people that I may not have seen in a while are in town. It's nothing fancy, just your typical neighborhood bar, but that's kind of what we like about it. It's never so crowded that a big group of us can't get a table (or pull a few tables together). Cheap beers (nothing craft or the like here so be be prepared) and drinks, decent bar food, nice servers, and the clientele is your average Joe & Jane so no stuffy pretension here. Lots of food specials too if you want to eat on the cheap. It won't be healthy (think onion rings, burgers, fish & chips) but it'll be a steal. read more

From the outside... well, you're not expecting much on the inside, just another dive bar. But, boy were we wrong! We went Friday night, and the place was hopping. Friday fish fry usually brings people out in droves, but that doesn't always mean the fish is good. Rusty Nail's fish is awesome! We started with the Pick Three app - 'hot' wings (= breaded wings with hot BBQ sauce on them), mini tacos with cheese (yum!) and potato skins with bacon and cheese (meh). Nothing comes with sauces, so they $0.25 you to death for sour cream, salsa, ranch, etc. OK app, especially the tacos, but $10.50 is steep. Ken had the fish. Paid $0.75 extra to sub onion rings for fries, but they were good. As I said, the fish was delicious. Four thick, flaky pieces. Not too greasy. Coleslaw tasted like KFC's (which we like). $11 I had the French Dip, based on our waitress saying it was all of their favorite. Nice lean meat, tender bun, flavorful au jus. Came with potato chips and pickle slices. Paid extra for a slice of cheese. $9-ish, I think. The crowd ran the gamut of 60yo ladies to 20yo apres ski poser wannabes. The Rusty Nail is a classic neighborhood bar. I'd have missed out, not living in the neighborhood, but luckily one of my co-workers once did. We first visited when hanging out with her and some other work friends, but we haven't hesitated to go back. The service is good and prompt, the drinks are exactly as expected and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. I'd definitely recommend the Rusty Nail as a great place to hang-out and unwind. It's the sort of place I'd head to meet a friend and purposely show up a little early, so I'm chilled out and ready to enjoy their company once they arrive. read more

I've been a few times and yes, there has been some slow service. There's also been the delicious loaded tots, an awesome grilled cheese with bacon, and an enjoyable atmosphere. The time i tried the burger, it was also good. The place is small and dark, no doubt about it and you get to seat yourself, which, while not clearly indicated, definitely is a way to make sure all of the seating space is for seating. Not even deserving of one star. We used to be very big fans of this place for its good food and fun atmosphere. Since they opened back up after COVID, we've yet to have a positive experience here. Usually our carry out orders are screwed up in some way and the food has gone way down hill. Today was the last straw. We had a few minor things wrong with our order (missing side of ranch and French fries as opposed to tater tots - not really that big of a deal). So we called and let them know there was a mistake. The gentleman my wife initially spoke to handled the situation correctly and offered to refund the meal. Problem resolved, we honestly probably never would have even taken them up on it. However, a few minutes later the owner decided to call my wife and say she was lying. Stated he reviewed the security tape (yes, the owner of this establishment felt the need to review security footage over an incorrect side of fries) and he stated that he saw the tater tots go in the bag. I called and demanded an apology for the way he spoke to my wife, to which I was told that "I guess this just isn't the place for you". Food issues aside, I refuse to support any business (even local) who treats their customer this way. I hope this review stops others from going through a similar experience. Absolutely ridiculous. Would be patrons should direct their attention to The Bowery just up the road. P.S. to the owner, there were two orders of tater tots. You got one of them right and one wrong. Check the receipt and ask your cook. You just lost two customers for life over your personal attitude towards a customer, not you screwing up a meal. Coming here makes me feel old. I remember the days fondly when my grandfather would take us here in our youth for a little beer (him) and Keno (fun for adults and kids alike lol). Before my sister was heading off to a Utah and leaving the family behind, my grandfather wanted to reminisce about the old days and head over to Rusty Nail. It's such a dive bar and dang I don't think much has changed in the 15 year hiatus I have had coming here. Total throwback and I love it. Food was actually pretty good. I got the burger and it was juicy and flavorful and the side of tots were greasy but hello, bar food. The creme de la creme was the Holiday Cookie White Russian. Those things were so good and so dangerous. You can tell the clientele have either been coming here for a long time or are Canton locals; I wouldn't mind driving from AA back here for a bite and maybe a White Russian. read more

Ever notice how the eastside and downriver areas always seem to have the best hole-in-the-wall neighborhood bars? Well, should you find yourself in Canton and have a craving for a bar burger done right, a reasonably priced glass of the sudds and friendly folks, The Nail is your locale. I've been going to the Nail for years. It's dark, unpretentious and you'll most likely see the same folks and staff every time you're in. Great burgers cooked to order, generous pours on the mixed drinks (one of the few places I'll order a Long Island Iced Tea) and some pretty good specials. They have everything from your typical nachos, mozzarella sticks, burgers and sandwiches to some pretty tasty Mexi-merican burritos. I love their big cushy booths lining the walls, but usually sit at the bar to join in the conversation. Always solid, always affordable and one of those bars you'd pass a hundred times before you stop in, but once you do, you'll be back. read more
