For those stopping by just to dine, park near the entrance to the HOTEL (there are multiple entrances in the resort) and hang a left past the two sliding doors. We ate there for breakfast and dinner. Its a mixed bag. Breakfast: Really small menu - no ham! So you can't order an eggs Benedict, or even a Denver omelet. That makes me sad. Omelets are ok but they are more like egg tacos (with the egg as shell) than your traditional omelet. Good breakfast potatoes, fluffy pancakes. Bloody Mary is not too spicy, coffee is strong. Smoothies are excellent and a good to go option. Dinner: Solid cocktails, interesting wine list, just OK steaks. I ordered the filet rare but it was overcooked and tough. Other cuts may be better? Unless there is a snowstorm passing through (and for us there was), I would venture out for steaks. read more

What a beautiful meal and a lively spot in Plymouth - the ambiance is perfect for date night or a night out with friends or family - it was relaxing and fun. We had a 7pm reservation; we were greeted warmly and seated after only about a 5-minute wait in the lovely lobby next to the fireplace. The food was delicious and plated beautifully - my seafood trio was cooked to perfection. Moist, tender sea bass and scallop, perfectly seasoned and delicious. A nicely seared shrimp with cajun seasoning. Yum. The risotto had such nice flavor and texture - creamy, lemony, yummy. The carrot puree was velvety, smooth and delicious. I felt that $42 for this special was well worth it. The lobster flatbread had lots of lobster and the onion soup was full of flavor and cheesy goodness. I maybe would have liked more broth and less bread, but nothing to complain about. Service was excellent, cocktails are well mixed and pretty, wine selection is good. What's nice about the dinner menu is that you can spend a little or a lot - you don't necessarily have to spend $100 on your meal and you'll be satisfied. I want to return just to try the duck meatballs, which sounded so interesting. The only slight negative is that it was really hot in the restaurant. I'm sure the ladies in pretty sleeveless dresses appreciated it, though. But I wouldn't recommend a sweater - I had on a fairly light long sleeved top and jeans and I was roasting. I will start by saying the food was great. My average review has little to do with the food and everything to do with the service. I have been to this restaurant four times in the last year and two of those four times we had the same waiter (a very experienced older man), which I will be sure not to ask for in the future. Both times we had him he tried to upcharge us on everything and often insinuated things came with the meal only later to find out they were à la cart items that we were charged for. This practice is deceitful. Don't ask me what kind of salad I want with my meal if it doesn't come with it. Don't ask me what type of sides I want with my meal if it doesn't come with it. Recommend those items or point them out on the menu if you are making a recommendation. Also, he seems irritated all the time. I ordered a raspberry margarita and without asking me, he decided that I needed the $12 upgraded tequila. Also, when it came time to order dessert, he never mentioned that my husband got a free birthday dessert. He knew we were celebrating his birthday because he presented us with a birthday card at the beginning of the meal. When the bill came, he handed us a to go bag and said "this is your free birthday dessert that I packed up for you since you ordered dessert". Had he told us that we got a free dessert with our meal we would not have ordered one. It seems to me like he is trying to up the price of the bill to up his tip. I worked in the service industry for 12 years in my earlier days, and knew better then to behave this way. I think this is a very nice restaurant with a very nice ambience, and I will be back in the future, but will be sure to request different wait staff. read more

The fact that this place is all non profit is just amazing to me, the building is stunning (former Catholic seminary) turned golf course , hotel and restaurants. This is a truly elegant steakhouse. We're here from out of town celebrating an exciting graduation and this was the honoree's choice. The grounds of the restaurant are lovely and the table settings are elegant. They had a variety of wonderful dishes on their menu and I was tempted to get the sea scallops because they sounded so succulent, but decided on the Vaca Viejo Ribeye steak since this is a steakhouse and steaks are their specialty. The flavor was wonderful and they cooked it to perfection just the temperature that I like, but it was disappointing that the steak was stringy as they left a lot of gristle on it that was basically unchewable. That was the only disappointing part of the meal, to pay these high prices for a steak that was partially inedible! Everything else was wonderful! For appetizers we had the Five Cheese Board with seasonal cheeses, gourmet crackers and charcuterie. We also had the fried calamari with pickled vegetables and the truffle fries. All were wonderful! Along with my Vaca Vieja Ribeye steak, I had a Caesar salad and a really good French onion soup. Two others in our party shared a humongous tomahawk steak which was pricey but they said was excellent. The presentation of all the food was so elegant and beautiful. Service was very good for our party of 14. They even threw in a complimentary mini "M" cake (stands for U of Michigan) for our graduate! I need to begin by mentioning the excellent service we received at the hostess stand, bar, and restaurant. The bartender (Johnny B) and table service team (Bridget and Ryan) were all great - friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had one hiccup with a cocktail removed in the restaurant too early, but they made it right. Ryan was especially helpful and funny. The four of us arrived early to have drinks at a table in the bar and truly enjoyed this time. Johnny B has several delicious cocktails named after him, and he purposely waited on us. He was great. I have to say I was a little stunned after seeing the bill. I know it's Michigan but $21 for Angels Envy on the rocks is ridiculous, and $18 for a Hendrix martini and $20 for an Old Fashion is certainly on the higher side of what I've experienced elsewhere. The Pama razz and the angelic blossom both recommended. We began with the calamari and the cornbread appetizers. Both were endorsed by the server team, but we felt both were disappointing. The cornbread was ok, but lacked the normal cornbread texture and had too much sugar in it. The calamari was lightly breaded, but really bombed without flavor. It was really disappointing. I would not order either again. Three of us had the wedge salads following the appetizers. They offer both small and large sizes. I have to say it was probably the best wedge salad I have ever had. Just delicious with plenty of blue cheese, bacon, and tomatoes. I highly recommend it. For dinner, we tried the halibut, the prime ribeyes, and the Angus fillet. All were good and cooked to order, but honestly nothing special on the flavor. I really question whether we got prime ribeyes vs angus choice. I'm very familiar with the difference in flavor, and this one was thin and did not have a buttery flavor and had a bunch of gristle. The 2nd ribeye was thicker and seemed fine. I wish I had gone with the 8oz prime filet. We also decided to get a side of truffle fries, which was easily enough to share for four people and delicious. read more

Saw other tables received bread service ( maybe they paid)? But was never offered. Had to flag down to order. Flag down to ask for updates on food. To me, the sauce was a tad too spicy but hubby loved it. Food selection: 3, maybe 4 stars. This is a steakhouse so a lot of steak offerings and that's fine with me. However, I personally struggled with the menu as so much of the menu contains dairy, which I cannot eat. I tried to keep on my happy face but was very bummed looking at the menu. Our server checked with the chef and said my dairy free option for the side would be saffron rice or double the root vegetable. Not sure why I could not get a side salad or even French fries (I heard a nearby table order a sandwich that came with fries) or even some roasted Brussels sprouts, which were an appetizer...guessing it all had cheese or nobody wanted to prepare it. Small tangent here - restaurants go out of their way to offer gluten free options but dairy allergies are much more prevalent but the dairy free alternatives are boring. Wanna guess what dessert was available to me - raspberry sorbet. Nothing creative there...it's the equivalent of a dairy free person being offered a saltine cracker for dessert. Andrew was an amazing server and the coffee was great. We also got the French toast as a shared item for the table but I didn't hit it up, I was to full. This is a super nice place, fancy, clean, and super great service!! We came this morning for "brunch" which goes until 2pm PS, lithe lunch menu isn't available until then. After chatting with everyone on the way home we all agreed that for how nice of a place and how expensive of a menu we were left disappointed and just won't be back for brunch. No one actually enjoyed the quality/taste of their meal. Mine was just bland and I felt like I've ordered similar elsewhere and it's been SO much better tasting. First of all, the building is stunning. The owners have gone all out to present a beautiful environment. We dined at the 5ive Steakhouse on a Friday evening. The restaurant was full and walk-ins were being turned away. This says something about the popularity of this restaurant. The service was stellar. The staff was friendly and attentive, and really went the extra mile for their guests. I cannot say enough about our server Hope and the people who supported here during our services. However, it appeared that the restaurant may have been understaffed. We were seated in the bar area, and our server was performing double-duty mixing our drinks and serving our dinner. This attributed to the service being a bit slow, however we were having a nice time and didn't really notice much. The food, however, did not really live up to the price point of the restaurant. I had the $53 prime filet and it was dry. I ordered medium rare and it was more medium. That would not have been a problem except for the dryness of the steak. If this was a properly prepared prime filet there should have been more fat content in the finished product. My wife had scallops that she loved, and insightfully asked for no sweet puree. Our third diner has the salmon special that was cooked OK, however she did not enjoy the sauce that smothered the plate. Our fourth diner had the trout, that he enjoyed. We all agreed that the food was "OK", however for the cost of the meal we should have been saying "WOW". Side of mushroom risotto was way overcooked and very salty. Probably the biggest fail of the meal. Street corn mac and cheese was pretty good, however also very salty. The kitchen should watch the seasoning and let the diner decide on salt level. read more

Dinner started with the fried calamari that had the most delicious lemon-pepper aioli that offered a tang and just enough heat to have me reaching for the Tito's in Wonderland - vodka, lime, mint and orange liquer - but not overwhelming. A fork full of my companion's crabcake confirmed that the kitchen is top notch and consistent. The entree of scallops included roasted figs, carrots and a pomegranate glaze that offered a slight sweetness that paired nicely with the firm fleshed scallops. Recently went for celebration dinner at the recommendation of some friends. While it was good, it was not a dinner I would expect when spending over $100 per person. We had made reservations a few weeks in advance and were surprised that we were seated in the bar. Perhaps they had told us, but it they did so, it was not a memorable comment. (We were really surprised when a group in sweatpants, shorts, and hoodies were given dining room seats shortly after us). Service was a little on the slow side, although not horrible. We did take a little time deciding on wine, but wanted to determine what entrees we would be eating. However, time between courses lagged and items such as bread or water refills did not receive top priority. There was no real "flow" to the meal. By the time our entrees arrived, we had pretty much finished our wine during the breaks. The brussel sprouts were fantastic! Quite delicate and tasty. The Ceaser Salads were fine, but not remarkable. The wedge salad came with sun-dried tomatoes, which might have been a little overpowering for the other flavors. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her filet and stated it was on par if not better than some other local restaurants (La Bistecca or Aqua). My bone in aged NY Strip was slightly overcooked and while good, was not nearly as flavorful as I was anticipating. The waitress was really pushing sauces and while sometimes necessary for leaner cuts like the filets, should not be needed for the strip. The prices to portion size were not quite where I would think it should be. The sandwiches and burgers were pricey, but reasonable. The lunch entree of scallops seemed on the high side I had three of them for $28. That seems extreme for lunch. The food was cooked to your liking and perfection. I believe we had about 5 servers taking care of all of us. We had a party of about 26 couples. The food was excellent and their service was great! The front lobby area was set up like a ritzy hotel with a large living room area, large fire place. In fact, this restaurant is located at The St. John Inn. I went here for Valentine's Day this year. It was a pretty standard really nice steakhouse. We got a couple of steaks which were perfect, and the seafood platter which was also perfect, but small. My main complaint about any place like this is only how expensive it is. 15 dollar cocktails? :( I plan to come for happy hour though, once the weather is nice. The patio looks legit, and the prices for HH are a lot more reasonable.
