"And them South Side sisters sure look pretty The cripple on the corner cries out "Nickels for your pity" And them downtown boys they sure talk gritty It's so hard to be a saint in the city" (Bruce Springsteen) You might think you've ended up in an art museum instead of a hotel. There are beautiful paintings, sculptures, and various works of art everywhere. But no, St. John's Resort is one of the most beautiful and very best hotels I've ever stayed it. The complex has a fascinating history. The grounds started off as a seminary in the 1940's and served that purpose for 40 years. A golf course, ornate ballrooms and four restaurants were added, and the property was repurposed into a magnificent resort hotel in 2021. And best of all, 100% of their profits go to charity. I attended a four-day conference here a few days ago, and I was awestruck by the magnificence of the building, the high quality of our meals, and the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Everyone said hello with a smile, and one afternoon when I was carrying a box of supplies up to my room a cheerful gent asked if he could carry it for me! Our sleeping room was large and luxurious with plenty of workspace and charging outlets, great WIFI and air conditioning. The bathroom was huge, and the shower was outstanding. Our meeting rooms, breakout rooms, and meal functions were flawless, and the catering was excellent. Fantastic, just fantastic on every count.

Awkward road construction leave the olace confusing and unsightly, not conducive to visits

St. Johns claims of AAA Diamond Awards heavily discounted by scenes of chaos, inattention and disorder throughout the property, starting from the entrance. Why are there no staff here ? What is the reason for all these entance closures ? Why are cars driving on wrong side of rhe road without a traffic monitor ? Unbelievably strange scenes not fit for a classy resort.

This is a perfect place for a weekend "staycation" if you live in the Detroit metro area - we came during the Winter, but I bet it's even more beautiful in the Summer, and we already look forward to returning. The rooms are modern and new, the beds are comfortable, the TV worked great with casting from our phone with Netflix, the amenities are nice and the bathrooms are clean with nice lighting. We had a pretty view from the 5th floor - it's probably amazing in the Fall with the colors of the trees. The lobby is stunning with a fireplace and skylight - they also offer spa waters in the afternoon and coffee and tea in the morning. Check in and out was very smooth - friendly service and they texted to check on us that night. I love that you can go to the Wine Grotto and 5ive Steakhouse all in the same building - it's perfect for Winter. You can get dressed up and not have to go into the cold at all. There is so much beautiful art all throughout the building - you can walk around and view glass pieces and paintings like a small art gallery. A very nice touch. We didn't get to experience the beautiful pool and hot tub, as we only stayed for one night and didn't really have time, but we already look forward to coming back this summer when my Dad can golf and Mom and I can hang at the pool. It was very quiet and comfortable; I highly recommend.

Very nice venue for a wedding reception which we attended for a friend of the family. The facility, which apparently can handle up to five wedding receptions at a time, is quite spacious with separate large cocktail rooms associated with each banquet room. The whole facility is top shelf in all aspects, with tasteful decorations through out. The organization of the events and how the staff facilitated the cocktail hour and the transition into the dinner and subsequent entertainment was quite impressive. The staff and management are like a well oiled machine where practice has made perfect in this case. Relative to the drinks/food, I thought that they were good but could have been better. The cocktails were strong and so so and lacking the ingredients/balance of what I am accustomed to. Relative to the meal, it was well cooked and had a great serving appearance exuding a high end meal but lacked a little on the flavor profile to take it over the top. This is probably in part to where they have toned down the spices to appease the masses and avoid offending some of the folks palettes which I get but have often wondered does it make sense where 90 percent of the folks are denied a floor pop to appease the 10 percentiles. Oh well no my wedding and not my rules but 10 percentiles be damned (: Overall a great venue and a well run and tasteful wedding reception that should make most newly wed couples happy with their wedding.

What a beautiful venue for any occasion. I came here for a wedding and the space and location was magical. The wedding was taken place in an all window room overlooking the hills and trees. It was absolutely stunning. The reception wasn't too far and the tables and decorations were dazzling. Fantastic venue spot!

Love St. Johns in Plymouth Mi. They are very classey and yet the uniforms for the staff and restaurant are like a dive bar. I asked them at different times do you like what you had to wear. The answer was always I hate these uniforms. They are ulgy and do not fit this beautiful hotel. Why can't they have black and white or something else. When people come in and pay high prices they need to look the part. thirdshift@peoplepc.com.....Sharon One star for the outfits Five for the staff.

Our recent visit was for a brunch to celebrate a close family friend's special occasion. We reserved a private dining room and had a preset menu. The resort is beautiful both inside and outside with their well manicured lawns and landscapes. The meal we had included both a tender beef and salmon combination with a cheesecake dessert. The food was very good. There were some drinks that were self service, but also others we had to order. That was part of their struggle they didn't remember the drinks after I asked for sparkling juice and mimosas and I had to ask 3 times to get the mimosa. They never brought the sparkling juice because the server ran out of the one bottle and rather go get more she said "the walk is too far" . Uh okay, that is odd. So not the right answer. Would we come back? Yes, it is quite lovely, but that is just some lazy service that hopefully doesn't translate to the rest of the resort.

Amazing experience!! The most fabulous place and venue for a beautiful, elegant wedding for my son and daughter-in-law Linda was my event coordinator, and she was extremely helpful with all the St. John's staff that helped us coordinate the magical experience! Stacey, the music coordinator helped me hire a violinist, harp player and the amazing Cantor that sang so beautifully at the ceremony! LOVED every minute of it !

Clean and lovely bathroom!

AAA Zero Rating…read more Scenes of Chaos + Disorder Tapes preventing your entry or exit are truly bizarre and confusing, leaving cars to head straight for you coming down the wrong sode of the road because the lack of managerial skills here are on display for themselves. I have never seen anything so awkward in my entire life. You are not the only hotel on the planet with a road, but you are the king of chaos. AAA deals with roads. And check oit these roads. The Incompetence on display here speaks for itself. its as if though PUNKED show on MTV was tasked with blocking path of hotel guests walking into and out of the hotel. Blocked. Driving into and out of the property. No guides - no signs - noexplanations. Clearly the staff in charge of this has no idea what rhey are doing, posing a significant liability to the safety of guests. AAA would be wise to know this is not even basic competence. Who is minding the store here ? Who !? Did everyone just walk off their job ? This is the horror show greeting a AAA hotel guest ? AAA Hotel Ratings brining in folks would be wise to take a look at thesw scenes of chaos and disprder with no managerial oversight. All this random tape everywhere is like a mad demented clown were tasked with causing chaos and discomfort to guests. iIt is a chaotic scene reserved for clowns at a 3 rimg circus. Not for a hotel of class and competemce. See a single staff member here guiding you ? No. See any signs saying what is going on pr procidong guidance ? No. None. As if though someone who was fired, deliberately caused chaos, and walked off the job. This is hell on earth. You feel like a mouse in a maze. cant go left. cant go right. cars driving in opposite side the road veering on to you for a head on collission. Astoundingly bizarre and findamentally disappointing. This is mot how you run a hotel. This hotels chaotic scenes are puzzling and unacceptable. Very clearly the management is in need of being replaced. These scenes of chaos add to no ones enjoyment during their stay and serve to discourage any and all future visits. Take a good look. If this clown show is what you want for your special stay. Gross incompetence and managerial deficiencies make St Johns a special place to better avoid.

I currently play in a golf league here and it is very well-run compared to other leagues I have played in. The manager of the league does a great job communicating and the staff is great. The course itself is challenging, with some impossible greens. However, it's still golf, and it's hard to complain about that. The front 9 is significantly more difficult than the back, with many creeks in challenging locations and a green that's atop a huge hill. The course definitely could use some work and needs some TLC, but I think they're committing to mkaing improvements. I could see this course being in great shape in a couple of years.

Walked in And went to check in rude man who looked like he peaked in high school with a Titleist visor on who decently needed to be raked down a peg Screamed across the clubhouse how old are you? I replied 16. He then said let me see your license. I offered to show him a picture while I was talking he interrupted and said I don't wanna see that and he got aggressive and said I don't if you don't have a license you're not playing and it was very rude about it not to mention he was screaming at a couple of minors. Startled because I just got verbally harassed after paying 35 dollars for 9 holes of mediocre golf just to get yelled at. Side note I've gotten a cart at least 10 times from this place and the one time I was denied ranger let me have one anyway I booked the tee time online and since I was made to walk I asked for the cart fee back to which I was denied because "it was through a third party service" I asked how to get my money back. He said I could not disappointing most staff here are nice especially the older men and younger women I know from experience but one bad apple ruined this corse for me I advise you do not come here

It's a fun place if you have 90+ mins and want to work on your short irons and putting. People seemed like they were learning or having fun--not a place you feel pressure to be good at. Layout: Lots of water, but pretty easy to clear (#9 was a longer carry from the blue tees); sand traps weren't too threatening (some were out of play). The condos are close on 2-3 holes, so you have to be mindful to not end up in a backyards but I generally didn't see that as an issue. While a cart isn't normally necessary on such a short course, a few holes are far apart, which would make for a long walk if you didn't have one. I brought all of my irons but only used about 5 clubs (7i, 8i, 9i, PW, LW) + putter from the blue tees. If I played the whites, it would be 4 clubs + putter. Tee boxes: About the same quality as the general fairways. Good enough shape overall. The yardage figures did seem off a little (a few holes played ~10-15 yds shorter than indicated--I just played down a club). Greens: A few patchy areas but generally pretty decent. Medium speed; a few breaks and undulations to add a little challenge. Other notes: very nice and accommodating staff; restaurant right at the clubhouse; only $10/round (+$5 for a cart). All the water meant lots of geese and goose droppings, mostly on #1 and #9. Overall, a nice little par 3 that I hope to get back to a couple times/yr since it's near my house. They seem like they take pride in it.

The prices are shown on their website and include "senior discounts." This is also the reason (I am sure) that it is a very busy place on a weekday morning. Great staff and location next to a restaurant and a seasonable carnival-like facility that includes mini-golf. Lastly, I believe that the dome is deflated in the warmer months and the tee lines become part of the remaining driving range. (Check out satellite photos on Google earth or maps to see what I mean) My only non-positive comment is that the artificial turf putting "green" in the dome interior has some weird slopes that one would never find on an actual putting green. I found it to make for a difficult and productive practice session with my putter. And, although the place is equipped with the Top-Tracer computer simulation system, I am not sure if it is exactly accurate given the probable issue of being in the interior dome. BUT - it was worth the 1-hour and 45-minute drive for me to go over for the morning given the snow on the ground outside!! Heh, I am retired! What else do I have to do?!?!? *laughter*
