Had a great weekend visit with my hubby and another couple and stayed in cottage 2…read more Pros: -Beds were super comfy and everything was immaculately clean! -Loved having TVs throughout, plenty of pillows, a fan and heater, etc. -Breakfast served to the room daily as part of the stay in a cute picnic basket. -Parking was easy, communication with the resort was consistent and simple -Grounds were really cute! The terraces were lovely -Loved the on site restaurant being so easy to access -Towels/washcloths were plentiful and comfy Cons: -Room has a definite musty smell from water damage somewhere. All of my stuff smells musty after the visit -Hot water in a room for 4 people ran out after 2, and was luke warm for the first two. Shower head is cheap and atrocious -Breakfast order was wrong every morning despite filing out the google form as clearly as possible. The form needs revamped to be specific for each guest as existing form was clearly confusing for the kitchen / kitchen does not know how to follow instructions. We had a clear allergy that was disregarded and mixed in with the gluten free guest resulting in frustration and allergen exposure -Restaurant was good but over priced for the quality/type of food. For what we spent, a bread appetizer should be complimentary. Server was nice but hard to get her to stop at our table. $100 pre tip is a lot for a bowl of pasta, a steak, a beer, a glass of wine and some fries. -Why is it so hard to get bottled water? Requests with our breakfast were ignored, and I ended up going to get a pitcher of water from the restaurant

For the Spa only: We had a 10 star experience at the spa. The standouts were the absolutely…read morebreathtaking garden and our massage therapists Paul and Mike!!!! There is also a lovely little electric sauna which did the job. Be aware there are not full amenities here such as showers or other bath items, but there is a sauna shower where you can get a spritz. There is wine, champagne and cheese/charcuterie boards for purchase, and complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and orange peel infused water. Taryn the spa manager was welcoming and friendly. Weekday pricing was very reasonable. My only gripe was the peculiar sitting area, with a motley crew of decor. But that's a minor oversight for what was otherwise a perfect day. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Geneva on the lake.

Check in was easy but when at the concierge desk I asked if there was anything going on the weekend…read moreI was there they stated no but in fact there was so many event going on in the resort! There was a bourbon tasting, movie night at the indoor pool and a dinner for a sorority! Also you could pay 100 in the cigar lounge to attend an event! There is no buffet for breakfast you just dine in that wasn't explained to us! We had a 150 voucher dining credit and I kept telling our servers that they never applied it to the voucher so we went to the gatsby on my birthday and spent the 150 in there! We ended up over spending because they never explain how to use the vouchers you get when you buy a package! The champagne that came with the anniversary package was nasty I wanted to exchange it for wine and they wouldn't I don't drink champagne. I think you should be able to choose if we want wine or champagne. Friday (day of birthday) it smelled like weed really heavily! It was so over baring!!! On Thursday it didn't smell like that but Friday and Saturday it was bad and it just made the experience not so good for me! I was so excited to stay here and been wanting to come and have that happen just put a bad taste in my mouth! Friday everything was loud and there was a lot of ppl everywhere! Kids screaming and running the pools were over crowded and it wasn't peaceful anymore! I stayed in my room all day on my birthday! Sad I just wanted to go home so we checked out early Saturday! I won't be back! My favorite place was the cigar lounge and the sauna only peaceful spots in the resort! Bae felt like it was over priced because of the kids and weed smoke and the young adults running around cussing and just being them! Didn't get to experience the Roman bath too many young ppl splashing around and being dum and complaining that they were cold! Our room was clean bed was comfy and pillows was comfortable! All the staff was nice except our very first server she was mean, and I didn't like her attitude. We had questions because this was our first time here at the resort and we didn't know what any of the food items were in. I don't know if she just didn't like our presence but we just ordered chicken wings, because we didn't like her attitude. And left! But 3/10 over all experience!

What a lovely way to spend a weekend! I stayed at The Grand Resort for my sister's birthday, and it…read moretruly did not disappoint. The property is beautiful and luxurious, and from the moment we arrived everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. The rooms were spacious, the beds were wonderfully comfortable, and since we booked a package, we were greeted with a charcuterie board and wine -- such a nice touch. We took full advantage of the spa and enjoyed several services, including pedicures, facials, and deep tissue massages. I opted for the 90-minute massage and... absolute heaven. Truly one of the highlights of the trip. We also dined at Gatsby. While I had just had my wisdom teeth removed and couldn't fully indulge, everyone else's food looked fantastic and they couldn't stop raving about it. Special shout-out to Jimmy for being such an amazing and attentive waiter. Lastly, we spent time at the Roman Pool, and even at the start of winter it was incredible. The water temperature was perfect and kept us nice and warm -- just be prepared for the cold air when getting out, because that part is definitely not for the weak! We're already planning a return visit since we didn't get to experience everything the resort has to offer. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would gladly recommend to anyone. Even as a day trip, you won't be disappointed.

Edinboro Lake Resort - Cabin view from lake

Too good not to share what a wonderful time we had at Edinboro Lake Resort - Sunset Grill! If you…read morelive in the Edinboro/Erie/surrounding area or are looking to visit this area, I highly recommend you book a stay here for your own retreat or trip instead of a night in another chain hotel! We were looking for a 'staycation' that felt like a getaway, and that's exactly what we got! For all we knew, it felt like we had traveled hundreds of miles to a vacation destination tucked away on our own exclusive resort! Their team was great and access to the room was totally contactless. They are pet-friendly and have a # of different style cabins with varying degrees of luxury & with our cabin rental, we received free kayak/canoe rentals and also received a discount to rent a pontoon boat, which we did and would do again! P.S. you do NOT need a license to drive the boat and all life jackets (except infant) are provided! You can bring food and alc/non-alc beverages on board for everyone to enjoy, except the driver, who can still enjoy a nice mocktail. The cabins were squeaky clean and have everything you need and more, most importantly: wi-fi, TV(s), heat, and A/C! Some cabins have their own deck, picnic table, and grill, but there are MULTIPLE community fire-pits and grills scattered elsewhere throughout. Even though we did not stay in a cabin right on the water, the second row was elevated high enough to still have a lake view! BIG BONUS POINTS if you have kids, as they have a HUGE lake-side sandbox like I've never seen before and an awesome playground! Hungry? Thirsty? No problem - take a few steps and you're at the connected Sunset Grill restaurant, which has a gorgeous view and observatory, live music on some nights, and my most-favorite feature, little dining cubbies for larger groups with your OWN, personal, controllable heat lamp and fan - absolutely brilliant. (No reservations unfortunately, but they were very accommodating as we tried to seat our larger group) We will definitely be going back! (*they have video walkthroughs & way better pictures on their site FYI )

This is our 3rd trip to ELR and we were so pleased with all the improvements! It has grown to…read moreaccommodate more people and parking, and makes great use of the space it has. We love this place! I read other reviews where they complained of the closeness of the cabins, and yes, they are very close together, but look at the map of the property layout and you'll see Cabin #21 & 22 are at the far end, offering the most privacy (these are the ones we always request.) You can see from the map if your cabin is waterfront or not, and how close the next cabin is. They did their best to insert privacy walls and landscaping trees to help with that issue. But if you are coming with a large group and want all your cabins together, the closeness is a plus, not a negative. The cabins are great! They provide towels and bedding for the main bed and bunks, but I'd recommend bringing extra blankets and your own pillows. The kitchen utensils were lacking in our cabin; we did not have a toaster, so I "toasted" the bread in a frying pan. We also didn't have a pizza cutter (I just used the butcher knife) and the bowl to mix avocados was massive with a flat bottom..LOL. I made it all work, but had I been staying longer, I probably would have asked if they had these items or went to the dollar store and bought stuff. (Or brought it from home had I realized.) SO, if you plan on cooking/preparing anything specific, maybe pack necessary kitchen items so you can accomplish your task. Also, bring your own plastic cups for kiddos, or for yourself, a plastic/insulated beverage container for walking around or boating. They only have glass (and very fragile wine glasses!) The property is lovely with concrete walking paths everywhere, 3 extra restrooms on the property, and Sunset Grille (great food and live music on the weekends). There is a kid's playground area, small sandy area, sitting spaces, fire pits, grills and picnic tables dotted all over the property. They offer non-motorized boats to all guests and we definitely take advantage of that! The kayaking is so fun! The lake is very nice once you get further from the front of the resort where it's more lillypads, algae blooms and "seaweed"... it's natural though, nothing to be grossed out about. Also, it is right off a main road, but if you pay attention to what's in front of you, not what's behind you.... you'll be happy :)

We are always so inspired here! We very nearly named our daughter (expecting soon) Harper to honor this wonderful house and its history (we aren't, but maybe our next one). We look forward to the clean rooms, and of course the scrumptious breakfast! The owners/caretakers are fabulous hosts. Sitting in the tower overlooking the vineyards is an experience like no other. I have the fondest memories here and we plan to return again and again for special occasions.

The owners were very welcoming and accommodated our early arrival, greeting us kindly and making sure we could get settled in right away. The property has a nostalgic, "grandmother's house" feel. We stayed in the Robert Harper Suite, one of three units, which featured a loft that we especially enjoyed. The separate kitchen area was thoughtfully stocked with essentials like a coffee pot and refrigerator, and storage space. The four-seat dining table was a nice touch. Each room includes a hot tub for two, which had plenty of hot water throughout our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and satisfying--an assortment of fruit, pastries, muffins, fresh-baked bread, homemade granola, an fresh omelet for each guest. Sue is a good cook. It was delivered by 7:30 a.m., and guests served themselves. The dining room fits three couples, but guest rooms feature space to eat privately. During our stay, two couples who traveled together ate together, while we enjoyed breakfast privately in our suite. Housekeeping was attentive as our room was refreshed with clean towels and trash removal daily, even without requesting it. Small details stood out, like many nightlights placed in hallways and stairwells--especially helpful when going up to the loft. Many Grandma's heritage antiques, flowers and crafts of a gone by era are spread throughout the property. Only one downside; temperature control. The house was set on air conditioning, and while the days were pleasant, the evenings turned chilly (dropping below 40°F), and then it rained, bringing even more cool. The in-room fireplace heater wouldn't turn on, and unlike a hotel, the thermostat can't be adjusted per room. While we made do by layering with sweaters and pants, and using all the blanket bedding, it was chilly. It's something to keep in mind when visiting in changing to cooler Fall weather. Overall, the Polly Harper Inn offered a cozy, accommodating stay with lots of thoughtful touches. We especially appreciated the charm of the property, the attentive hosts, and the comfort of our suite. It was also quiet as we didn't hear the other guests very often. We'd stay again and thank you for the nice visit. Recommend checking them out is they are very competitive with a regular hotel room and you get so much more for your money
