Eeewwwww. On the floor by the desk.

The room was not cleaned very well and the air conditioner made this crazy, loud rattle squeaking noise ALL NIGHT LONG! Had it not been late and we were exhausted, we would have asked to switch rooms. I don't know how housekeeping wouldn't have heard that while the room was not being cleaned well enough and advised maintenance (guess not enough time was spent on said cleaning).

Decent place. Clean and no problems. Not the Taj Mahal but good enough if you're traveling through.

Pros: - Location was convenient to the freeway, surrounding areas, and was safe - Hotel and room were very clean and updated - Breakfast had a wide variety of items and everything was hot and well-prepared - Staff was incredibly nice and went out of their way to help Cons: - The property needs some maintenance and upkeep. Surfaces like tables are worn and chipped. The huge lightshade in our room was broken and falling apart. Caulk and grout were cracked and looking poor, etc. - Humidity was really high indoors even though it wasn't horribly high outside. Our door would not close properly because of the humidity level and all my papers felt damp. - The public spaces (hallways, lobby, pool, etc) were very poorly lit with only these tiny wall sconces and no other lights. Overall, I would stay again, but definitely has some things needing improvement.

Apparently there was a concert going on in the area and there were no available hotels Airbnb's or bed-and-breakfast so my father had to sleep in the Denny's parking lot across the way from this hotel the next morning, the 17th Sunday I had booked and room for him here and although check-in time was until 3 PM when I spoke to Missy she understood the circumstances that my father was going through and let him check in early and get a shower and some sleep. my dad is 78. He was traveling alone by himself and it was horrible knowing that he had to sleep at a rest area. I just want to take the time out to thank Missy for her hospitality and her compassion that she conveyed to my dad. I wish there were more people in the world like Missy cause heaven knows we're lacking them right now. Thank you Missy.!!

Oh boy. Where to start.... We booked a 2-night stay for a…read morequick family get together and felt this would be a good choice based on location and price. Welp, I kind of struck out on this one. The ok/good: 1) Decent AC cooled down the room quickly. 2) The bed and pillows are relatively comfortable. A little firm but comfortable. The not-so-good: 1) Evidently, there is only one way in and one way out of the building. We arrived later in the evening and had to park on the backside of the hotel and schlep our bags around to the front entrance. 2) TV....for whatever reason, the TV required me to join the hotel's WiFi to activate it. I noticed that the network is not private, so I disconnected from WiFi...so no TV for our stay except through my cell (can't airplay to the tv, either). 3) Bathroom...oh boy. I get it that this property was built in early 2000's, based on the rounded wall where the shower is, but come on, man! The bathroom has a pocket door. No big deal except the door doesn't hang properly nor does it connect to the catch to keep it shut; it's also really beaten up and needs to be replaced. The shower has a glass hinge door that has nothing to hold it open or close. It's like a swinging saloon door... except glass...Yippee-ky-yay. Also, shower head drips. Moldy caulk where the shower basin meets the floor. Gross. Overall, this is 2 out of 5. Not the worst place we've stayed (check out my review of The VUE in Wisconsin Dells that is still the undisputed champ of worst hotel). Thankfully, this isn't a resort-type stay, but there are other hotels in the area that are probably much better. My wife has officially fired me from booking hotels...so I guess that's a silver lining...? Update: We returned to our hotel at 5:00pm for night #2 of our stay...and our room isn't clean. When I called the front desk, I was told that rooms are cleaned every other day. Hmmmm...never have heard of that before from a major chain hotel. Gotta move the rating down to one star. A clean room is a standard expectation when staying at a hotel. VUE, though, is still the overall worst.

We are always so inspired here! We very nearly named our daughter (expecting soon) Harper to honor this wonderful house and its history (we aren't, but maybe our next one). We look forward to the clean rooms, and of course the scrumptious breakfast! The owners/caretakers are fabulous hosts. Sitting in the tower overlooking the vineyards is an experience like no other. I have the fondest memories here and we plan to return again and again for special occasions.

The owners were very welcoming and accommodated our early arrival, greeting us kindly and making sure we could get settled in right away. The property has a nostalgic, "grandmother's house" feel. We stayed in the Robert Harper Suite, one of three units, which featured a loft that we especially enjoyed. The separate kitchen area was thoughtfully stocked with essentials like a coffee pot and refrigerator, and storage space. The four-seat dining table was a nice touch. Each room includes a hot tub for two, which had plenty of hot water throughout our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and satisfying--an assortment of fruit, pastries, muffins, fresh-baked bread, homemade granola, an fresh omelet for each guest. Sue is a good cook. It was delivered by 7:30 a.m., and guests served themselves. The dining room fits three couples, but guest rooms feature space to eat privately. During our stay, two couples who traveled together ate together, while we enjoyed breakfast privately in our suite. Housekeeping was attentive as our room was refreshed with clean towels and trash removal daily, even without requesting it. Small details stood out, like many nightlights placed in hallways and stairwells--especially helpful when going up to the loft. Many Grandma's heritage antiques, flowers and crafts of a gone by era are spread throughout the property. Only one downside; temperature control. The house was set on air conditioning, and while the days were pleasant, the evenings turned chilly (dropping below 40°F), and then it rained, bringing even more cool. The in-room fireplace heater wouldn't turn on, and unlike a hotel, the thermostat can't be adjusted per room. While we made do by layering with sweaters and pants, and using all the blanket bedding, it was chilly. It's something to keep in mind when visiting in changing to cooler Fall weather. Overall, the Polly Harper Inn offered a cozy, accommodating stay with lots of thoughtful touches. We especially appreciated the charm of the property, the attentive hosts, and the comfort of our suite. It was also quiet as we didn't hear the other guests very often. We'd stay again and thank you for the nice visit. Recommend checking them out is they are very competitive with a regular hotel room and you get so much more for your money
