We are always so inspired here! We very nearly named our daughter (expecting soon) Harper to honor this wonderful house and its history (we aren't, but maybe our next one). We look forward to the clean rooms, and of course the scrumptious breakfast! The owners/caretakers are fabulous hosts. Sitting in the tower overlooking the vineyards is an experience like no other. I have the fondest memories here and we plan to return again and again for special occasions.

The owners were very welcoming and accommodated our early arrival, greeting us kindly and making sure we could get settled in right away. The property has a nostalgic, "grandmother's house" feel. We stayed in the Robert Harper Suite, one of three units, which featured a loft that we especially enjoyed. The separate kitchen area was thoughtfully stocked with essentials like a coffee pot and refrigerator, and storage space. The four-seat dining table was a nice touch. Each room includes a hot tub for two, which had plenty of hot water throughout our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and satisfying--an assortment of fruit, pastries, muffins, fresh-baked bread, homemade granola, an fresh omelet for each guest. Sue is a good cook. It was delivered by 7:30 a.m., and guests served themselves. The dining room fits three couples, but guest rooms feature space to eat privately. During our stay, two couples who traveled together ate together, while we enjoyed breakfast privately in our suite. Housekeeping was attentive as our room was refreshed with clean towels and trash removal daily, even without requesting it. Small details stood out, like many nightlights placed in hallways and stairwells--especially helpful when going up to the loft. Many Grandma's heritage antiques, flowers and crafts of a gone by era are spread throughout the property. Only one downside; temperature control. The house was set on air conditioning, and while the days were pleasant, the evenings turned chilly (dropping below 40°F), and then it rained, bringing even more cool. The in-room fireplace heater wouldn't turn on, and unlike a hotel, the thermostat can't be adjusted per room. While we made do by layering with sweaters and pants, and using all the blanket bedding, it was chilly. It's something to keep in mind when visiting in changing to cooler Fall weather. Overall, the Polly Harper Inn offered a cozy, accommodating stay with lots of thoughtful touches. We especially appreciated the charm of the property, the attentive hosts, and the comfort of our suite. It was also quiet as we didn't hear the other guests very often. We'd stay again and thank you for the nice visit. Recommend checking them out is they are very competitive with a regular hotel room and you get so much more for your money

The tub didn't drain, I had to spend a half underneath nightstand and table re-arrange the power cables, which were totally screwed up. In one case there were three cable with only a two socket outlet. The WiFi was very marginal. The maid service was exceptionally poor. Beds not made, old towels picked up and new ones literally just thrown in. We have visited your lodge about seven times over the last decade to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In that time, your prices have gone way up and the quality has gone way down.

We are VERY happy we did. The owners, Laura and Norm, are the nicest people and have decorated the house beautifully. Every morning the breakfast was absolutely delicious - the bacon was THE BEST! We purchased the wine tour and highly recommend doing it. The tour is tailored to your tastes and they drive so you can enjoy the wine (or breweries/distilleries). I am extremely disappointed with the experience at this campground. Both interactions with the…read moreoffice staff was met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. On our most recent overnight stay, we were one of only three occupied spaces in the entire campground. When we returned from a day out with our granddaughter, we found four large trailers filled with groups of adult men placed just feet from our camper. With dozens of empty spaces available, this placement was completely unnecessary and inconsiderate. The booking process specifically asks how many people will be on site, yet no effort was made to inform us that such large groups would be packed in so close. Each trailer,(not camper) contained at least five men, and the resulting noise and disruption ruined what should have been a quiet family stay. These men kept wondering around our campsite and occupying empty campsite picnic tables all around us due to the size of their group. When we voiced our concerns, the response from the office was unprofessional and dismissive -- essentially a "too bad, so sad" attitude. We felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that we packed up and left early. This complete lack of regard for guests' comfort and experience is unacceptable.

We did not use the shower in the bathroom, but the toilet, sinks, tub, etc, was quite clean. The layout of the hotel is a bit odd...there are motel style rooms, or interior rooms. They did offer a exceedingly modest continental breakfast with an offering of a bagel or english muffin, two choices of cereal, or some individually packaged applesauce. Nothing special, but it was clean and easy to locate.

Adam was SO accommodating our Event with changes in dates & numbers of family members as well as needing seats with buckles for our 3 youngest needing car seat safety. Joe our driver couldn't have made our experience more perfect! We gave him the map of all the places we wanted to drive by so they could reminisce & share their memories and stories with all of us. Joe not only drove us to each destination, but he stopped & waited very patiently while they shared their stories! Starting at the home where Mom & Uncle were born & raised in, My Grandma & Grandpas home where they moved to until they passed, the Old Cemetery where they lay to rest with many generations of family. We drove by where they used to work/retired from ( if the buildings were still there) and even a couple places they used to have beers & cut loose when they were in their prime haha. We got out at the Veterans Park to stretch where the Parmly Hotel used to stand-where my Grandmother was a desk clerk & met my Grandfather- the traveling Salesman from Massachusetts. The leaves were so beautiful & the day was perfect to walk around the park & listen to their continued stories. We proceeded to everyone's 1st homes where we all raised our children and shared more fond memories!! We ended at the new BEAUTIFUL William Vincent Winery on the Lake in Madison to share some wine & snacks. Highly Recommend! This was not Joes typical bus run & he shared with Us how much he enjoyed us as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Sunset Taxi.
