I called ahead on my way up the Northway for a visit with family. It was ready when I got there. Two gigantic square thick pizzas piping hot. The pizzas were great lunch. Plenty of sauce and cheese. I expected more of a "sit down" restaurant based on the way the exterior looked so I was a little surprised to see that it was more of a "super casual go to the counter to order your stuff and sit where you want and we will bring it to you" kind of place. I was actually happy with the latter and liked the vibe. There was a small wireless speaker cranking out some tunes. We sat near a large table with young parents and little kids enjoying wings (which looked and smelled great), pizza, soda and beer. The pizza is primarily thick crust/Michigan style, but they also offer the thin crust/traditional kind. We decided on the (thick crust) hot honey for half of the pizza and just regular cheese the other side. It was served piping hot - don't burn your face or chins on scalding cheese drips. Since we could only order an 8-cut, we had lots leftover. I thought the sauce was really good-thick, dark tasty red sauce. I would have put a bit more hot honey on my side but I'm a little cray. (I like my food to be painful sometimes). We started with some fries that were really good. I liked the spicy mayo it was served with; didn't love whatever ketchup option was available. Overall, I liked this place. I was happy with the food, not my favorite style of pizza but it was good, service was great, it wasn't a busy time so we had plenty of seating, although heads up for everyone it is rather small inside with a few outside tables, so yeah, I would go back. We were looking for a place to eat with our kids that hopefully had something for them to do that wasn't the bowling alley/arcade, not that it's a bad time there but we were just looking for something different and this place delivered! Mini golf and ice cream in the back! Fun course with Saratoga Spring themed holes, just nicely done and tucked away. Good times! read more

While I've never been to Detroit I've now tried Detroit style pizza at five different local businesses. So, I can't tell you who makes the most authentic version, but I can tell you which one I like the most and how they are different. Today I visited Rustic Pizza and Eats (technically in Wilton but close enough to be considered Saratoga Springs). Coincidentally, I was last in this same building over twenty years ago while Mino Kawaguchi was serving sushi in his Japanese restaurant. While the sushi bar and hibachi table are gone not much else has changed. There are maybe a dozen tables, some of which can be slid together to accommodate larger families or groups. Upon entry you are greeted by a sign directing you to pick up menus, choose a table to sit at, and place your order at the counter. My sole purpose in coming here was to try their "Detroit Meets Rustic" pizza ($22; toppings +$3 each). The pizza meets the qualifications to be considered Detroit style by being rectangular, having crispy, caramelized cheese around the edges, a crispy bottom, and a thick tomato-based sauce. I can't say for sure if the sauce was applied in strips or if they used Wisconsin brick cheese, but the combined flavors of dough, sauce and cheese were very good. I opted to add sausage and roasted peppers. I didn't notice any fennel flavor in the sausage which is something I enjoy. The dough, especially in the center of the pizza, was not as light and airy as found in the Walt and Whitman's version of Detroit style. I wonder if an establishment that only makes Detroit style has an advantage of preparing all of their dough in a single style 24 to 48 hours in advance over the business that must be prepared to serve multiple styles of pizza. Or is it possible that a larger pizza is less likely to be light and airy in the center? Rustic's Detroit style is considerably larger than any of the local competitors' pizza. I can finish a whole Detroit pizza at Walt and Whitman or Korner Bar & Grille, or from Pizza by Plu; but I only made it through three of the eight slices at Rustic. My wife tried their Soft Pretzel Sticks ($9) served with a cheese sauce blend. She was pleased with the quality and flavor. I tasted a bite dipped in the cheese sauce and thought it was a decent starter, fresh and hot. Beverages are bottled water (Poland Spring [$2.50]), iced teas ($2.65), and various canned and bottled sodas. Service was friendly and prompt. Noise level can be high when almost all the tables are filled. read more

We places and order for pick up. The app told us to pick it up at 4:10 (we got wings, garlic bread, and a cheese pizza) . By the time we got there 4:05 (we ordered at 3:35) the food was cold we had to reheat it ( I'm only a 6 minute drive away). The pizza looked way thinner in person the. Was pictured and basically tasted like (slightly more cheesy) than Ellio's frozen pizza. The garlic bread was under done and cold too. The wings tasted good but were cold has well! The cashier was nice and we didn't know the food was cold until we got home. So I can't tell you how she handle the situation. We decided not to call because in the end we just decided we won't go back, which is a shame... It's really cute and rustic looking inside and out... it pulls you in and you feel comfortable. In the back of the parking lot there is a mini golf course and an ice cream stand... I'm not sure if it's all connected. Even if it's not it's a super cute set up. We read other reviews about how amazing this place is and saw their pictures that's why we went. We were confused to why ours was nothing like their experience. So when we went back and looked they were old reviews and the newer ones lined right up to what happened to us. The reason I'm saying this is maybe if enough people say something they can go back to what people loved before! I'm really rooting for them (I know my review isn't that good) but besides our food they nailed everything else and their food apparently used to be a lot better For the owner who responded I don't know if you've read everything I posted in here, I said I was hopeful for your restaurant to get back to where it was cause I saw the positive reviews that being said when I do see it because I really like the atmosphere and everything else about your restaurant, we will be back and at that point if it's good, I will update my review to be so but thank you for responding. read more

Pizza was undercooked, leading to a rather sloppy mess. It lacked flavor and needed a lot of help with salt and pepper. The inside was nothing special and could look a little more cleaner. Had to wipe down our seats before we sat. read more

There are several popular pizza places in the Saratoga Springs/Wilton area like Popes, Caputo's, and Marino's. I now prefer Rustic as my No. 1 go to place for a quality 8-cut pizza. As a picky pizza consumer, I highly recommend it. read more

Went in Saturday night around 6:30 pm, ordered a small antipasto and meatballs and sauce. The antipasto was really good. The meatballs were small and the cheese was hard like they had been microwaved. The meatballs tasted good and the sauce was good. Took about 30 minutes to get my food. I would recommend they be larger ( my preference). Music was loud even though I enjoy classic rock. Busy take out and seemed the girls were busy tending to that aspect of the business. Their site touts their legacy with Crystal Bar. I grew up in Amsterdam and Crystal Bar was a legend, but this is no Crystal Bar pizza! We ordered a 12 cut 1/2 cheese 1/2 mushroom, sausage and roasted reds. The cheese half is totally burnt, with much less cheese than the other half? Mushrooms are canned, not fresh and it is so over-cooked the crust is hard enough to break a tooth. Respectfully emailed them, crickets. Thought long and hard about your response and whether I should reply or not. I don't normally post and only do so when a phone call to the establishment doesn't resolve my issue. For the record, your website menu for the sandwich I ordered says " House-roasted turkey with crispy thick-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, aioli". You'll notice the comma between avocado and aioli which led me to believe that there was avocado AND aioli. My bad for assuming that was the case. And, I know the sandwich doesn't come with cheese, that is why I paid the $2 extra to have it added only to find out it wasn't on the sandwich when it was delivered. I know mistakes are made with orders and I only posted because this isn't the first mistake your staff has made with my orders. First mistake, two drinks were left off our take-out order. No big deal and I didn't say anything. Second mistake, we ordered three dinners and after picking up the food and getting home, found out one of the dinners was left out. I did call and asked that they credit me because I didn't want to drive back but I was told by your "compassionate" staff that they weren't able to do that, so not wanting to throw away $20, I drove back and picked it up. Did I get a "sorry" or acknowledgement of the mistake, nope. Third mistake I just posted about and that is the reason for the post. I'm not bashing your establishment, just pointing out to anyone that is thinking of ordering, to beware. After your response which again didn't acknowledge or apologize for your mistake, I reiterate what I said and that is I will never return to your restaurant and now I will tell everyone I know locally to not frequent it either. A colleague and I tried their sandwiches for lunch one day for lunch. We both got the Vichy and a side of French fries. The sandwiches were delicious!! The bread was soft and the sandwich was thick with turkey!! The fries were crispy and I loved the rustic sauce. The ambiance seemed nice although we took our food to go but would definitely go in to enjoy a meal. The service was great for take out and food was ready as quoted.
