I had high hopes for this pizza when I looked at it in the box. Crust looked great and was in fact nice and soft and tender. They were a little stingy with their toppings, but OK, fine. I just couldn't make it past how sweet the sauce was. I know, others said it was sweet, but I think this was by far the sweetest sauce I've ever had, by a factor of 2. My hopes have been dashed. My family was staying at Pioneer Lakes RV Park and our neighboring camper recommended this place for their pizza. So, we decided to give them a try and we ordered 2 pizzas and fries and onion rings. The meat lovers pizza was awesome, and the sauce was sweeter than most places but it did not disappoint!! The buffalo chicken pizza had big chunks of chicken, but it did lack buffalo flavor which was disappointing but it was still solid since the toppings were heavy. The onion rings were good ! They did not pull out of the ring like some places and had good flavor. The French fries were also good and nice sized but we ordered the large. Which is in medium sized container. We called and they turned around the order in 20 minutes, no problem..! We def. recommend if you're staying at the campground or just a local. read more

So the pizza had all the components to be great, but the actual pizza wasn't consistently made. Some areas had reallllllllly thin crust, while other areas were okay. There were pockets of excessive sauce... and areas with no sauce... The individual components were good though. The crust was more bready than chewy, but I don't mind that. The sauce is super sweet, but I love a sweet sauce... the bake on the pizza was really good, they let it cook until the cheese caramelized. If the dough would have been stretched evenly and toppings applied evenly, this pizza would have been pretty good! read more

Yes the sauce is sweet, but all enjoyed the pizza. We had a pepperoni, and another with sausage, onion, and mushroom. The side of garlic sauce was delicious too - reminiscent of Papa John's garlic sauce. The subs were well wrapped in foil and were still hot after a 15 minute drive. OK, so if you DISLIKE pizza sauce that is on the sweet side, this pizza won't be your thing. But we absolutely love the pizza here. I'm from the DC area, and Ledo's Pizza is very comparable to this. They will cook it to order, more or less done, and the owners are very nice. Our normal go-tos are the pizza, cheese sticks and wings. The wings are perfectly fried and then sauced, no breading. In some ways, this pizza was better than I expected, but it should not be mistaken for great pizza. On the up-side, the pizza is allowed to cook so that the cheese gets caramelized instead of being underdone and flabby. Also, the end crust puffs up nicely when baked, as it should. That's better than you'll get at most pizza places beyond the NY/NJ/CT pizza corridor. On the down-side, as other Yelpers have so clearly noted, that red sauce is remarkably sweet. Not sweet like long stewed ripe tomatoes. It's sweet like sugar. Trusting the Yelp community, I tried to order accordingly, and steered towards white pies and those that might be able to counter the sweetness of the sauce. The Buffalo Chicken was the clear favorite of the household. Second was the white pizza with sausage and sweet peppers. However, the sweet peppers were too sweet for some, and in the future, I'd go for another accompaniment to complement the sausage. Onions, peppers, and mushrooms had no chance of cutting through the cloying nature of the pizza sauce, but I thought the "Heart Attack" special with triple the pepperoni and parmesan cheese might do the trick. Alas, all that smokey, salty, cured meat was no match for the sugar content of the sauce. So if you're at Hidden Valley, and feel like getting pizza, bring some cash down to Rustic Mountain. Fun place. Kind of a carnival booth/living room feel. Seemed to be family run. Pizza is top notch and reasonably priced. I would take this over the big chains any day. The pizza was way WAY too sweet that I actually thought they accidentally confused sugar with salt preparing it... until I read the other reviews. We got the cheese pizza and the veggie pizza. My only complaint is honestly the sweetness. I cant eat anything sweet when im hungry, so ended the night with a bag of chips, since we were already in our hotel room by the time i had a bite in of my slice (post skiing) and its 10pm. While at Hidden Valley, a decent place to get food. The red pizza sauce is VERY sweet. As an alternative, we prefer the white pizza. The wings are also decent. Don't plan on eating there. Also, we ordered two tossed salads with ranch, and a 25 count of hot wings with ranch - we only received one ranch packet for all three. All of the missed points on the food wouldn't have been so big of an issue if it didn't take over two hours, but it just added to the frustration. read more

Ordered a meatball and chicken parm sub to our condo at 7springs. The content of the subs (meatballs and chicken parm) were pretty good; however, the sub roll they use is overly sweet tasting and off putting. This family owned restaurant is a sweet memorable place. We stopped on our road trip to the east coast. They love kids and have a family recipe for the pizza sauce. I thought it was delicious. First, the nice woman who took my order could not have been any sweeter or nicer. Second,the pizza was delicious!! A small is prett big size. She told one from our group that they wouldn't deliver to our air bnb and hung up on our friend abruptly, then I called (not knowing somebody had already called them) and they said they deliver but it would be 1.5 hours, we weren't quite ready to order so when we were about 5 min later another from our group was told delivery was 2.5 hours, all the while she was still being rude. When we finally got the pizza the sauce was way too sweet and not worth all of the hassle we went through. We have ordered from Rustic Mountain Pizza multiple times and each time something is just slightly off, but considering we are usually on our way up the mountain we have brushed it off without much thought. Today we ordered a single large pepperoni pizza. It took over 2 hours to be prepared and when it finally arrived it was missing its toppings and freezing cold. We never received a receipt nor was there explanation as to why we were charged the amount that was well above that of a single large pizza.
