This was the best salon experience I've ever had! That atmosphere was professional yet completely comfortable. The staff was friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. There's no harsh chemical smells and all the furniture, including the shampoo chairs, were comfortable and relaxing to sit in. At no time did I feel rushed or like I was just a number in a long line of people that had to be done that day. My stylist was Jacque and she was wonderful to work with. She text me the day before to confirm my appointment and we were able to discuss what I wanted. Upon arrival, she introduced herself and offered me a beverage. She talked me through some possibilities for my hair since I was a tad unsure and made sure I understood what her process would be. She had the task of fixing a pervious stylist's mistakes and she did a fantastic job! I wish I had a before and after picture! Book early because they fill up fast! I've been looking for a new salon since moving to the area last summer. I decided to give this place a try based on reviews. I called on a Wednesday and whom ever I spoke with was very friendly and offered us an appointment for Friday. That was cool to get a opening so fast!! We were scheduled with Lindsey ( my daughter and I.) we both were getting a basic haircut. Lindsey was nice, quiet but nice. I'm also a very quiet and shy person so that was a little, idk awkward? Neither of us had a shampoo-she did ask if we wanted one but we declined. She did a really nice job on my hair though! I literally do nothing with my hair every day but the way she cut it my hair flows and settles so nicely with me only brushing. Also, I don't think she asked my daughter if she wanted her hair styled but she offered to style mine. The prices were a little pricey to me. $25 for each of our cuts. My daughter (11) has short hair, so I feel that was a bit much. Nonetheless I pretty sure we'll both back. read more

I have been getting my hair colored for almost ten years now, and I have never left a salon 100% satisfied until today! I requested an appointment about a week ago but they seemed booked up. The owner, Kendra, worked her magic and got me set up with Ashlee. She is absolutely amazing and super talented. My hair was a disaster when I walked in, and now it's amazing! I would recommend this salon to anybody and everybody. Ashlee made me feel so comfortable and calmed my nerves about having such a drastic hair change. If I could give Rust 6 stars, I would! SO excited for this new salon. LYNDSEY has been my hairdresser for years now, so of course I followed her when she left her old salon to come to Rust. I was a little hesitant, since I don't really care for change, but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Rust for my first appointment! The salon is clean, and has a great urban feel to it. The girls who work there are all very friendly and helpful. Lyndsey did an AMAZING job (as always) with my a-line cut and color. She takes her time- never leaving a single hair out of place. Between my phases of highlights, ombres, and single color dyes, she has always impressed me. She has corrected my horrendous box-dye jobs too many times to count, and never makes me feel badly about it. Haven't cut or dyed my hair in 6-7 years so I decided I should do it now since my wedding is months out. Firstly I want to say that all the ladies here are welcoming and nice. But my hair experience was less than perfect. I booked my appointment a month out for an ombre style. So I went to my appointment and showed the hairdresser about 2 photos of the color and an extra highlight I wanted to add around my face to add with my ombre. It ended up looking like highlights, thought it was a miscommunication she did say it would take several sessions to get my hair the way I wanted it. I decided to book again thinking it was a miscommunication. The next appointment I mentioned ombre serval times before beginning the hair appointment. Unfortunately, the second time showed no progress but stripping any lightener out of my hair. I ended up booking an appointment at another salon in Tracy and got my hair exactly the way I wanted on my first appointment with the other salon. I have lived in Manteca for a little bit and have had some really bad experiences with salons here which triggered me to drive to the Bay Area (hometown) every time I needed my hair cut/colored. I stumbled across this salon when looking through yelp and thought hey why not great reviews good prices......I went in for a consultation and they were able to fit me in 3 days later! I had Andrea not only was she super friendly she is good at what she does and I left there feeling beautiful....just in time for my engagement photos! I showed her what I wanted and she delivered. I have boxed dyed my hair black for years and just got tired of just black. She was able to lift some of my hair to give me the balayage highlight look that I was wanting as well as keeping the black and touching up my roots. I couldn't be happier! I have been getting my hair done with Lyndsey for over 2 years...she is amazing and so is the team at Rust! I had to get my hair done a few times by other stylist since I had to reschedule a few times and no one has let me down. Yes, they are booked out, but isn't that a sign that they are amazing?! Book your appointments ahead of time and you won't be disappointed, they are totally worth the wait. I receive complements on my cut and color all the time; I have a short, blonde A line cut. Amazing that someone that lives in San Diego thinks she can just walk in one of the top salons in the 209, and get triggered because she couldn't get in. This is the sign of a very successful salon. This is the salon to go to! Lyndsey has been my stylist for 6 months now and I can trust her to do an absolutely wonderful job. She is always meticulous with my cut/styling, on time/keeps appointments, courteous, and always happy to see me. The Rust crew are all pleasant and someone will greet me when I walk in (I find that a big deal, as I have been left standing/ignored elsewhere). I feel like my patronage is appreciated! These are all qualities I have found sorely lacking around town. The salon is upbeat and always clean/tidy. Prices are fair too. Please give Rust and Lyndsey a try if you are not happy with current salon/stylist...well, even if you are ok where you are at now, it might be time for a change to someplace better! This rating doesn't even deserve a star because I was unable to rate this place at all since I was unable to make an appointment because they booked out months ahead and no one contacted me to even set one up. I had to keep sending messages to get a response. I understand that there are regulars but if they are trying to gain any new clients... there should be a slot or two available even at least two weeks out, or even at least one month with one person there, I wasn't trying to pick a specific person. I recently moved here from San Diego and to be new to the area and even try a new place was hard since I had the same hair dresser for 10 years ... made me nervous. Then I get rejected. Pretty disappointing. Got my hair done at a different spot and got in a week out and I'm happy and will be going back a month and a half out to lighten up the color. read more

So far I only got a bang trim by Lindsey. But I def will return for a full cut. She was nice enough to stop and give me a quick snip even though it was the end of the day and she was on her way out. I really liked that she didn't cut my bangs too short and started a length and would let me decide if she should proceed going shorter. I know a bang trim seems simple but sooooo many people have messed up that I travel all the way to sacramento for my cuts. Happy to find someone closer to home. read more
