I used to love getting out family's haircuts here. The stylists Tina and Lisa were awesome. I recently came in last minute. I did not see any of the regular stylists and their work stations were empty. Did they leave since the ownership change? My daughter had a few layers (very little cutting) and I had a trim. The stylist did a great job and had great personality. This has nothing to do with her. There are no extras included. Just a spray bottle, a comb and scissors. When I went to pay the owner who was on the nail salon side the entire time never saw what we had done but immediately charged me $55. Since they used to charge $17 for a cut I was shocked at such a price increase. The salon is still old and outdated, the roof was leaking into the chair I was sitting in. I will not be back and no I do not recommend this place. read more

My hair was a very very brassy blonde and, seeing my picture side-by-side, reminds me of why I made the change in the first place. Leticia was amazing and gave me the look that I wanted. I will definitely return to Sadie's for my touchups in the future. OK, so today Tina did my hair. I have to say that I am still very impressed with the shop. They really do care about what they do. They are all wearing masks or face shields and require customers to do the same. They also take your temperature when you walk in the door. They are incredibly clean and sanitary also. Took my mother here to get a hair cut and touch up her hair color, we came about 10mins early the receptionist was nice staff was wearing masks and took our temperature. I dropped my mom off and came to pick her up Patty who serviced my mothers hair got the color right but got color all over her ears and forehead! This salon is a hidden gem here in Manteca that I never knew existed! I was recently invited to a wedding, and I wanted to look nice. I have super long thin hair, so I always struggle when I try to style it because I don't have much hair to work with and it always falls flat. Originally, I wasn't going to do anything with my hair other than straighten it because that's pretty much the only thing I'm able to do with it. The day of the wedding, I decided I'd search around to see if maybe there was a salon that could at least curl my hair and make it look decent. I was a little hesitant because I've gone to salons in the past where the stylists curled my hair and it always ended up falling flat within less than an hour, it never lasted and felt like a waste of money. However I've also had a handful of stylists who worked wonders with my hair so I was hopeful. I knew my chances were slim because of how last minute my request was. I called numerous salons (half of which didn't even answer the phone). Every salon was booked because of it being back to school week. Sadie's Salon was the last salon I called before I was ready to give up and I'm soooo happy that I did. The man who answered the phone was very kind and helpful and assured me he would be able to squeeze me in to get my hair done. Yay! I felt so relieved. My hair stylist was Tina, and I adored her so much! She's been in the hair business for a very long time and it shows in her work. She asked me questions to really help pin point what it was that I wanted her to do to my hair and I appreciated that. During my entire experience she made me feel comfortable and beautiful. She started up conversations with me which I also appreciated because there's been plenty of times where I've gone to a salon and it's just dead silence all the way through (awkward!) Tina did an amazing job with my hair and I appreciate her squeezing me in last minute! The next time I need my hair styled I know who to see! I highly recommend this place to everyone. I have been taking my daughters to Sadie's for about six months and was very happy up until yesterday. I brought a two year boy with me while my daughters had their hair cut. Why? Because I'm a mom...because it is a public place....because I take him everywhere -hello! Anyways, the little guy was full of energy and wiggling in his seat, the usual stuff two year olds do. As I waited for my daughters hair cuts, I noticed the young woman behind the front desk peering at us through the shelves of shampoo bottles... It is important to add, that we were on the empty side of the salon. There were no other customers in our vicinity. After a few minutes, the baby began hopping in his chair and attempting to spin it. Immediately the young woman rushed into our area and announced, "O.K., we have two options kids...you can go outside or sit quietly in a chair," looking at the baby! No exaggerating, those were her exact words. I looked at her but she was glaring at the baby. "Excuse me, he is two...he cannot go outside next to the busy street...." I said out loud. "Oh well, I was hoping he would pick option two," she said as she spun around on her heel and walked away. At this point, one of my girls were finished with her haircut. I thought it would be a nice gesture, so I gave my daughter the money to pay for her haircut. My daughter is six and a half and very smart. I watched her bring the money to the young woman, who took the money without saying thank you, only kept a pinched face and sighing loudly! My little girl came back happily and hadn't noticed the woman's rude manner. I tried to brush it off and forget about it. Maybe she's having a bad day. The baby sat on the tile floor (since it wasn't acceptable to wiggle too much in the seat) and rolled around. I was thankful that he was being so good! Usually he runs around, tearing items from the shelf or screams... He then turned a somersault and there was a flash of movement from my peripheral vision. The young woman came rushing out shouting, "OK this is enough!" I cut her off by saying, "HE IS TWO!" She looked at me as if I were stupid and replied, "Ma'am, he just did a somersault!" Irritation fully having set in, I replied "Ma'am, I can see that! Again he is two!" She looked bewildered. "That is very dangerous!" She informed me. That's it! Time to go. I felt harassed because I brought a baby. It's very sad because I liked it there. The rude, young woman from the front desk needs to look up the definition of good customer service. She needs a Valium. She needs help. She had the audacity to slam things around as we were leaving. I won't go here again. Very sad. Sharon and Connie are great with kids, they actually cut the kids hair. They both do a good job but unfortunately that is not helpful if you have someone running around behaving inappropriately. From the outside, Sadie's looks very tiny and modest, but once you get inside you'll be surprised at it's size. Sadie's is like a trip back in time, which is understandable since they have been located in the same building for 60 years! Everything from the sinks and stations to the magazines (which were a little too outdated for my taste) have a vintage feel. I was 20 minutes early to my appointment and my hairdresser was out to lunch, which was fine with me because the friendly staff chatted me up and kept me company during the wait. I will admit, I was a little nervous when I walked in to see a large portion of the patrons were gray haired ladies getting curls put into their hair, but my mom had assured me that all of the women in her office got their hair cut there and that her stylist (Amber) did a great job. She was right! I had made the mistake of butchering my bangs and not only did Amber give me a gorgeous cut (exactly what I wanted), but she also repaired my bangs flawlessly! Sadie's gets 4 stars for being practically perfect in every way... except for needing some updated browsing material for guests (finding style ideas before going into an appointment is very important to me... and mis 80s styles just aren't doing it) and a rather cold receptionist that adjusted my appointment prior to me going in. read more

Came here today for a simple haircut; to lift my layers while still maintaining the length of my hair. The woman who cut my hair recently began working there, and she was extremely sweet and friendly upon entering. She was also the one to cut my hair. Did EXACTLY what I asked for & honestly the BEST job I have ever gotten. A simple job done perfectly! I was extremely apprehensive at first because ALOT of stylists will cut hair shorter than I would've wanted & I wasn't familiar with anyone/anyplace in Manteca. I forgot to ask for her name, but she is a short Asian woman with blonde hair. I would definitely reccomend this place to any woman looking for a good cut. This place is located right besides a "Mangy Moose" cafe and a Mexican restaurant & parking can be found at the back. I was told it's a tad busy during the weekends, so if you plan for the weekends-maybe try to make an appointment--but appointment is definitely not necessary. 14$ for the service, which is fair. I love Sadie's! I've been going here for years and have never received a bad cut! I've never colored my hair so I can't speak to that, but every stylist I've had has been great! Even when I was getting a zany hairstyle for my 8th grade graduation forever ago, the stylist was really excited and even threw in ideas! I've always had a good experience here. The salon is clean, and the prices aren't bad for a nice cut. It may look a little old because the building is old, but I've never seen anything unsanitary or gross as long as I've been going there. I do have a couple tips though! If you find a specific stylist you like, get her card! If you call and make an appointment, you will go with whatever stylist is free at that time, so if you want a specialist or something, make sure you request them or call them directly! Also, have cash for a nice tip after they cut your hair! I was taught this when my mom would take me as a kid, but that's just a heads up! :) read more

Jenna is awesome. She works her own hours and rents her station. She is so good the owner has her fix the F ups from his own employees. The only thing I wish she'd have is prices, I never know what i'm going to pay until I'm done. She really knows how to do highlights, cut and style. I have thick wavy hair and she knows how to make it look great. I've been here a few times as a walk in to donate my daughter's hair. So, my stylist is on hiatus... Before total meltdown I asked a friend if she could highly recommend in this area... She said, go to Rikki, she's great. Had my appointment yesterday, and I am totally impressed. Rikki and I had a quick consultation and she knew exactly what I was wanting and got right to it. We had enjoyable conversation and she told me a little history about the place ( it's Sadie's 75th anniversary). I was delightfully surprised at the reasonable charge for doing such an amazing job on my hair, I had touchup highlights and low lights put into my long hair that's more than half way down my back... And a trim for $114! I would definitely recommend Rikki to anyone who's looking for a knowledgable talented stylist who has a ton of room for growth and development to get even better! She told me the salon has been in that location since the sixties, since the business got too big for Sadie's home where it was established in 1936! That in itself is impressive, but a salon in this area, being the age that it is has modern touches and they have definitely done well to keep up with the times and with the wide range of clients they can definitely cater to most requests. First time visiting Sadie's. Had a really enjoyable time taking to the ladies and learning that this is the longest standing single owned hair salon on the west coast( or something like that). I love hearing stories like this. My hairstylist was Liz and she did a very clean job. I'm used to having a dramatic A-line haircut and although a bit hesitant she went with the flow and did an awesome job. So I've been on the hunt for a great eye brow waxer and after many years of searching I came to find Alicia at Sadies! She is amazing! She takes her time and does a nice clean job! Sadies Hair Salon was our first visit. A lady named; Patty cut my daughters hair today. It was to be a layered trim only. During the hair cut she kept pulling her hair hard and kept asking her "am I hurting you"! Really, how inexperienced is she? She is only 13 year old, my kid told her she was pulling to hard and didn't care. End result: the hair cut is worse than we started, chopped, broken hair fly always due to the pulling . Sadies Hair Salon is a risky place to gamble your hair. This is "My opinion" due to our experience. I recently moved to Manteca from the Modesto area and was looking for a great local salon to get my hair done. After reading all the wonderful reviews I thought this place would be perfect ! Unfortunately, It's the worst cut/color I've ever gotten. At first I thought maybe I was just missing all my long hair since I cut off several inches, but after three weeks I'm still unhappy with it. I feel like a boy every time I look in the mirror even though it's shoulder length and after three weeks all of my red has disappeared out of my hair! I've dyed my hair before so I'm fully aware of how to take care of color and have never had this happen ever!! Now my red highlights are almost completely BLONDE which my boyfriend hates! The rest of my hair was dyed black and that has disappeared too. Turning my hair back to it's mucky brown color with these reddish/blonde rainbow highlights. I was so impressed with the price and now I realize that I got what I paid for. Cheap and crappy color and a horrible cut. I would have given more stars for good customer service but I don't feel that I got any. My consultation was decent but as soon as the woman started working on my hair all she wanted to do was shove a magazine in my face. She must have asked me five times just during the cut if I wanted a magazine when I would have rather talked about the weather at least! When she did finally talk it was to the other stylist on the other side of the room which left me feeling very insulted. She was very quick to take down all my information after I paid though! IThis place also needs a good after hours scrub down and some serious renovations. I'm hoping to salvage my color at another salon. I would never let these people near my hair again. read more

I was in a pinch a few months ago and found this place on yelp... they took me as a walk-in. I saw Liz. I was very nervous because I wear my hair VERY short, so if it's cut wrong, I'm screwed until it grows out... she did a FANTASTIC job for cheap! I was so impressed. I'm definitely going back. I have been going to Sadies for a while and always use Tricia. She is the first, and only hairstylist, I have ever used that actually listens and most importantly, understands what I ask for. I have my hair cut very simply in a straight line with side swept bangs and yet everyone always manages to misunderstand or screw up. Tricia knows what she is doing, is fast and efficient and does not talk your ear off while you're sitting in the chair. Now you might think that this would cost you your wallet, but on top of being the best haircut you will ever have, it's one of the cheapest! Tricia is an amazing, knowledgeable stylist and even since moving, I travel an hour and a half just to go see her.
