I was very clear in what would be inside my vehicle and then treated like I was trying to "sneak" things in that added weight. Especially because I'd removed the hard top of my jeep and installed the soft. My jeep should not have been questioned. I specifically asked, I drove it to the location which was an hour uber ride home for me, so it would be here earlier than it was. My jeep did arrive in great shape. The driver couldn't deliver it to my address because he was unsure of where to park the rig, so I had to get a ride to a local park where there was more room to unload. I decided to try these guys because they were close by and they told me they only used their own drivers. I paid a couple hundred dollars more because I've had bad experiences with the typical brokers. Well, they brokered the Car out to another company. They were 4 days late with all sorts of cockamamie excuses. Their contact with me was almost non existent and they told me to work thru the other trucking company. The driver wouldn't deliver to my home saying the truck was too tall. This didn't make sense as I've had other cars delivered. Bottom line is this company stinks. read more

First time shipping a vehicle. Delivery was delayed two days. Rust claimed the late arrival was caused by the hurricane in NC but when I spoke to the driver upon delivery he said the storm and/or traffic related to the weather had no impact on his trip. I don't know this business but since it's low barrier to entry (anyone can put up a web site and broker vehicle transportation carriers) the margins are obviously low as this company will nickel and dime you on fees. For instance: My vehicle was supposed to arrive on a Thursday afternoon (date/time window given to me by Rust the day before). The delivery was delayed until Saturday morning. Although not happy about the 2 day delay I understand that things happen so I was going to agree to a Saturday morning pick-up at their office except I was informed there would be a "gate charge" to pick the vehicle up at their facility since Rust wasn't open on Saturdays. So the deliver of my car gets delayed by two days and they want to charge me extra to pick it up on Saturday morning? Excuse me? When I talked to the company rep about waiving the fee because of the delay, they refused, stating it was "their policy." Any business has the autonomy to do whatever they think is in the best interest of the company and clearly charging a Saturday "gate fee" on a two day delayed delivery is bad for future business (I will certainly not use them again and presumably this review will be read by potential customers doing dd). I decided to pick the vehicle up at their office Friday night to avoid the gate charge (Rust employees leave at 5P so I met the driver directly). I live 5 miles away from the Rust offices so no big deal but if I had the car delivered to my house Rust would have charged me an extra $75 even though the mileage for the brokered transportation company would have been exactly the same. Moreover, the driver indicated to me when I picked the car up that their charge to Rust is based on mileage and not where the car is delivered so the home drop-off charge is just another way of tacking on extra fees. I used Rust because they were local and had good reviews on line but will do more shopping if there is a next time and contract directly with the transportation company to avoid unnecessary brokerage and delivery fees. read more

Bottom line: 3.5 stars. Solid company with quality customer service, BUT... you still roll the dice when the drivers who handle your vehicle don't work directly for Rust. I was moving from Hawaii to SoCal. Had a car shipped from Ohio to meet me in Cali so my family and I would have wheels upon our arrival. Upon initial pickup, the driver called my contact in Ohio, saying he was from another company- not Rust. Knowing about all the aggressive auto transport brokers (sharks) who were trying to get my transport business, my contact was reluctant to work with the driver until he knew for sure he was contracted by Rust. Overall, the confusion was cleared up and the driver showed up...eventually. There were a few changes to pickup dates and times for when the driver could finally make it to the contact's home in Ohio for pickup. From the feedback from both my Ohio and Cali contacts, the driver definitely lacked courtesy and personal skills (my cleaned up version of how they actually described the driver). Now on to the Cali delivery: Whomever the driver was that carried my Acura called my friend, who was doing me a huge favor by being on the receiving end, and told him in the morning that he would arrive later in the afternoon and would give him a call once he got closer. He called a few hours later with an update, letting him know it would be closer to a 10pm delivery. Even later, he called again to tell him it would be a midnight delivery, saying he couldn't re-schedule for a next-day delivery because he had a drop off in San Diego then had to head off to Arizona- zero regard for any of the customer's hours or work schedules; & not just my friend's. At 11:30pm, the driver, who my friend later described in mostly explicatives, said he wouldn't be able to make it at midnight and would need to re-schedule for 7am The next morning. He showed at 8. Now my friends, who agreed to help me out, wasted an entire day so they could deal with terrible customer service from a driver who obviously doesn't care about customer satisfaction, and is only out to make as many deliveries as possible within the shortest amount of time. My friend missed out on work as did his wife- the one who was there the next morning for the drop off. It wasn't completely Rust's fault that this driver was terrible at his job and with people. According to Rust, he should have coordinated any changes through them and they could have helped to mitigate. When I emailed Darline back at the office she forwarded the email to the company's president who subsequently responded very apologetically and with a small refund. Again, I am pleased with Rust overall. I just wish I got the chance to deal directly with the driver instead of having friends and family inconvenienced and insulted. read more

I don't normally write reviews on businesses but I really felt like I should commend Rust Auto Shippers on the service, speed, and professionalism in which they served me. Originally I contacted another car carrier company to ship my car across country because they were 1-200 dollars cheaper and they hand more reviews on their site. I called them and they were extremely eager to take down my credit card information and charge some sort of application or reservation fee. Thankfully I later realized that I accidentally read an incorrect string of digits off on my card and was consequently never charged. After I faxed them the necessary documents to get my ducks in a row and arrange for my vehicle to be picked up (this all happened within a couple hours), I never heard from them again. I called back after a week to check on my status and left a message. I called the following week after that and left another. No response. After this less than favorable experience (and waiting about a month for a response), I decided I needed to try another transport company to get my car moving. I contacted Rust Auto Shippers and corresponded with Darlene, filled out the appropriate paperwork, and called her every couple days (attempting to ensure that the same thing wouldn't happen to me and that the paperwork was all correct). Every time I called, she answered and was very pleasant on the phone, answering all my questions and informing me of progress in obtaining a truck and when to expect to recieve it. It was exactly 1 week from the time I called Rust Auto Shippers to the time my car got picked up and put on a truck. I was extremely relieved that it was finally being shipped and satisfied with the speed in which they were able to do it. Should I need to use an auto carrier company again, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the small price difference and have the piece of mind Rust Auto Shippers afforded me. Rust Auto was easy to work with and the staff were great, but we had a major problem during shipping that cost use almost $600 to resolve and we were never full compensated for Rust Auto's mistake. The dates of delivery were incorrect on our contract and my two sons based their entire trip around the delivery date to Seattle as promised on the contract. Instead, they had to rebook their flights right before Christmas to fly into Boise, ID to pick up the car instead of the original destination Seattle. Then they had to drive to their final destination in Vancouver, BC. It's a good thing that Rust Auto Shipper's subcontractor C2C contacted us about the discrepancy in delivery dates otherwise we would have never known. My son's would have shown up in Seattle and would have waited 7 to 10 days for the car to show up. When we contacted Rust Auto about the error, they admitted it was there fault and they failed to change the delivery dates on the contract (which we checked several times and discussed with them). Still they were NOT willing to fully compensate us for our extra costs which came to almost $600 for flight cancellation fees, hotels, and gas since they had subcontracted the hauling. We felt we were very reasonable and fair with what we asked for, but we ended up receiving just a little over $200. Rust Auto's contract is very one sided and does not include an arbitration clause, so there are few avenues to recover costs should something like this happen. I moved to Tarpon Springs Florida on December 1, 2016. I was contemplating flying back to NH to retrieve my wifes car. I looked at flights, fuel costs to drive back to Florida, and how beat up I would be after driving non stop to Florida. I decided to Call Rust Auto Shippers of Greenland NH. Darling took my call immediately. I explained my situation of needing my wifes car transported to florida. From the initial phone call I was nothing short of completely satisfied with all the services. I was told to have the car dropped off at their facility by Friday at 2pm. New England was expecting snow and ice that weekend. I have pictures of the snow covered car carrier and my car. The driver (Jesse) notified me in the morning that he was going to be in the area around 4pm. He called me throughout the day keeping me in the loop as to the arrival time. We met at the location.
