I was able to order my tire online, and request a appointment on a Sunday afternoon. Within minutes of requesting a appointment, I had it scheduled for the next day. I also included a oil change service as well. I went in, gave them the info about my tire, and left. A few hours later they called me letting me know my car was ready. When I arrived I noticed that my slashed tire was still on the car. I went in and explained the issue, and they immediately took action. A simple mistake of doing the wrong tire. That's life, it happens. Within 20 minutes I was on my way. I would return to them again because they put the customer first, and acknowledged their mistake.

NOT SO FAST OLD MAN! The good folks at Sullivan told me the tire couldn't be repaired because the screw was too close to the sidewall. What they didn't know is that I knew exactly where the screw was. It was well within the tread. But they REALLY wanted to help with my problem, and offered to sell me one tire, for nearly $400. Installed I assume, or maybe not. So, I took my leak elsewhere. Got it repaired for $40 and made a friend. The man has been in the tire business for decades, and just shook his head when I told him the story. Here's the thing: I never begrudge a man a day's pay, but do not try to take advantage of me. I'm too old and I worked too f***ing hard for my pension to get porked because the rubber merchants had a slow day. Sullivan Tire will reply, bleating their side of the story. And that's fine. I know the truth. Now you do too.

When I arrived for my appointment the following Monday, they didn't remember the oil change or the mirror replacement, so I had to remind them. Regarding the plate light, I provided the wrong one--that was my mistake. The team did a great job replacing the mirror, and I truly appreciate their time and effort. The oil change was a bit pricey, but I also appreciate the service. However, I never asked for the check engine codes to be deleted, yet I was charged $250 for that. What I specifically requested was for the EPC light and the shaking while driving to be checked, as I believed they were related. When I picked up my car, the check engine light was off, but it came back the very next day. Again, I never asked for the codes to be deleted, and the EPC light was still there. I understand that this is an old car with many issues, but I've been driving with those check engine codes for two years without any problems. I am not a native English speaker, but I know what I said--I'm not that bad at English. The workers here are very kind, but not the best listeners, I believe. Thank you again for your time and effort. This was my experience at this place

I have to drive about 50 minutes to an hour to go there, but it's worth the effort because they are professional and do things right the first time. I first dropped off a flywheel for a balance, That went fine. Then I hurt my (marine 383) engine so I had my old machinist surface my cylinder block before I reassembled it with fresh rings bearings and gaskets. I was a little concerned about ring break in so I had R&L run in the engine. Got a bonus, their guy did a little bit of tuning with a jet change to put my afr values right on spec. Before R&L my engine was running well, now it's effectively perfect. I got a nice dyno sheet out of the visit too.

Late spring of 2021 I ordered a completely machined and rebuilt 350 (bored out to 383) to include a new carburetor and fuel pump. I had some issues with the 350 that was in the car (frame up restoration from the "Nova Guy" in FlA), was knocking a bit and smoking. Engine was installed at a separate facility (DuPonts service car in Dover, NH) with precise instructions to NOT touch the carburetor as it had been set up to mate with the engine. Power plant was PERFECT. Not excessive horsepower (425), but sounded exactly as I had requested. Took it to some local car shows, then drove it 267 miles to my hometown for a car show first weekend of August, 2021. I noted that the idle kept speeding up. Upon returning back to Dover I took car to R&L to figure out the idle problem. They had Danny come out and readjust the carb. He adjusted EVERY setting on the carb. Idle was good. 2 weeks later, on the way home from Bentleys car show the gas gauge went from 3/8 to empty in about 20 seconds. Upon smelling strong scent of gas, I pulled over. Just as the car stopped (presumably out of gas) I heard a loud snap, and saw flames from the dash vents. 2 fire extinguishers did not even touch this blaze. I was left to kneel in disbelief while my $35000 car burned down on the side of the road in Wells, ME on a Tuesday night. I got a ride home, car still sitting on the side of the road awaiting tow to facility unknown. Next morning I called the Wells PD to find out where the car had been taken. Bobs towing in Kennebunk, 45 minutes from my home in Dover. Went up to clean out what was left of my belongings and try to figure out what happened. Bob (the owner of the business and a respected local businessman) came out and watched as I opened the hood, removed the air cleaner. I was looking down behind the engine (firewall) when Bob said "well, there's your problem". The float adjust screw on the Holley had worked it's way out and was laying on the back of the carb, threads facing up. Hadn't been tightened properly and had worked it's way out. R&L denied any possibility it was their fault, questioned my integrity and called Bob a lier. Even hinted that perhaps my (now) ex-wife may have caused the car to burn. They were the last (and only) ones to touch the carburator, which they sold me with my $8500 engine. I had the car underinsured (hadn't upped the insured value after I had the engine installed), have multiple folks from car shows who are willing to state that the car was worth 35K, I had it insured to 25. I sold the "carcass" for $4500 (I had bought it back from Hagerty for $250). all I was looking for from R&L was the $5500 I was out from the loss. Instead I get called a lier, get my integrity brought into question and get my ex wife accused of arson. Think LONG & HARD before you do business with these people....... Oh, and let's see how long it takes them to get this review removed and have the police come visit me (again).

"I'll be there in 20 minutes," I say. "See you then," the guy says. 20 minutes later, I arrive... and the guy I talked to is nowhere to be found, and the other guy there has no idea who I am, can't give me a quote, etc. Apparently, the guy I talked to stepped out... Later on, I drop off the bumper to be painted. More confusion ensues, but they take the bumper and the paint sample, and say they will match it. Many weeks go by.... finally I call them. Oh, yeah, the bumper is done, the guy says. But he had totally forgotten about it, he says. Can I bring the car to have the new bumper installed? More confusion ensues, where he can't tell me a day/time that will actually work. I'm going out of town in a few weeks, so I decide that I should call back after I get back in town. After I get back in town, I call to schedule, and he tells me he can install the bumper on Thursday, in two days. Sounds good! When should I bring it by? First thing in the morning, he says. Like, 8am? More like 8:30am, he says. By the way, we never talked price. How much will all this cost? More confusion, and then... roughly $800? I guess that sounds good? Thursday arrives, and I bring the car at 8:30 as planned. The guy looks at me in total confusion, like, "What are you doing here?" I mention my car, and having the painted bumper installed. He says that they're one guy short, and won't be able to get to it until tomorrow. But of course, we need the car tomorrow. Thursday was the day we planned on not having the car. He also has a doctor's appointment, etc. He seems really stressed. Then he says he doesn't even know where our painted bumper is. Could be upstairs, could be in the basement. Gulp.... has he lost our bumper? So we tell him we are going to have to reschedule, and then my wife and I are about to drive away (in our two cars, so she could drive me home when I dropped the car off), and then I'm like, "Wait a minute, enough is enough. I should just get my bumper, pay for the paint job, and take it somewhere else for the install." I mean, if Thursday couldn't work, as agreed, he should have called us to let us know. But come to think of it, he never even wrote down our phone number, or my name, or any other information about me or my car. So I go back in. The owner guy is nowhere to be found, and one of the younger technician guys knows nothing about my bumper, or how much it will cost, etc. More confusion ensues, and they finally call the owner guy, and he says $600, and I'm like, "Fine." They also go upstairs and find the bumper. Well, that's good news! And yeah, it would be easy to lose something there.... the place is absolutely piled with junk. Like... if I actually dropped my car off here, would it return in one piece? They bring the bumper down, and it's all dusty, but they wipe it down, and the paint looks nice. There's a scuff on one corner of the bumper, but at this point, I'm just going to take it. So one of the techs takes me into the office, which is an RV in the back, again completely piled with disorganized papers and junk. He processes my card, and I take my bumper and go. Two stars, because I feel bad for the owner, who's getting old and seems like he may have some health problems. But yeah, I would never bring another car here.
