    Playground and grassy park.
    Torie B.

This made for a great place to stop with our infant and toddler. The park is nicely shaded by beautiful trees. There is a playground intended for ages 2 and up that is large enough to keep the kids entertained for a while. There are swings including one for the younger crowd who cannot yet swing by themselves. The park has a babbling brook running through it, a small pavilion, what looks to be a snack stand that can maybe open during events, bathrooms, tennis courts, and plenty of grassy area for picnics and walks. Even if you're just driving through Lone Pine on your way to the next destination, stop at this park for your rest break. I think you'll enjoy it!

Formerly this delightful little park was known as "Lone Pine Park." This is a true oasis off the US 395 Highway and has ample parking and clean restrooms for travelers, residents or dogs. Stream runs through this park and take a break under a tree as you hear water passing over rocks and relax under the cool shade provided by trees. Safe place for dogs and owners do pick up after pets here. Check out the playground and a fountain is nearby for thirsty little ones and adults. Worth the visit!

Right from the get go the staff welcomes your group and is telling you instructions to take care of yourself, your group and the caves/park. They greet you with enthusiasm and you learn so much. Please arrive on time! For parking there's quite a bit of spaces. There's restroom nearby so you can go before heading out. You can bring your backpack onto the trail but can't bring it inside the cave. So you can either bring it and leave it on the floor outside the cave or in your car. The trail can be a little challenging for some but very doable. Can be a little challenging for some children and some older adults. This also includes for the caves. The staff are there to watch for your safety but they do warn you about your surroundings. The cave is very cool to explore but there will be some tight spaces you will navigate through. So I don't recommend bringing a stroller and make sure your kids are able to walk and stay near. They will definitely enjoy the cool nature stuff inside! There's a gift shop stand near the entrance of the trail. You can buy nice souvenirs, snacks, and support! Overall we loved our tour and we would comeback again for this. Thank you to all the staff of Crystal Cave for all that you do and taking care of this natural beauty.

Once it was time to hike down they made some general announcements and we met the guide at entrance of the cave. It was nice to have someone tell us the history of the cave and guide us through. The 20 minute hike down and up wasn't too bad and was completely doable for my 6 year old son. Overall, it was a unique experience and I'm glad we made the stop during our Sequoia trip!

Trail was adjacent to Lake Sabrina for about half of the hike with various views of the lake from low to high elevations. There was excessive water at the first crossing; hiking sticks were extremely helpful for balance and getting across safely without getting shoes wet. Second water crossing was much easier with the rocks and logs. ~5% of the trail at higher elevation was still covered in snow. Trail was mostly a narrow and rocky incline towards Blue Lake. Furthermore, about half of the hikers brought their dogs. Beware of altitude sickness! Staying at the city of Bishop with an elevation of 4150ft and then driving the next morning to Lake Sabrina with an elevation of 9128ft resulted in altitude sickness for us throughout the hike. The worse symptom was shortness of breath with some minor headache and nausea. Very limited parking at the trailhead. There are more parking available further in at the boat landing area. Restroom also available at the upper parking lot of the boat landing. Short video of the hike for those interested! https://youtu.be/eMJO8pq-b6Y
