If you know what this place is about, it can be totally fine…read more I was looking for a cafe to work on my laptop and this is NOT the right place for that. They have signs that say no laptops on weekends and 1 hour on weekdays. Out of respect I decided to go somewhere else because I didn't want to break their rules, but the 3 places I walked to after were all full ( not super surprising, they were all small ). This is a very old part of Boston. I went back to cobblestones and sat at the high top bar area which was absolutely disgusting. The place was busy and they have a " now hiring " sign up and I've worked in the industry my whole life so I understand the struggle, but the entire vibe felt very off. I'm confused about being so busy and having no help at the same time, there's some supply / demand economics that need to be looked at here. Anyways, I ordered coffee and food, ASKED THE EMPLOYEE IF THEYD GIVE ME A SQUIRT BOTTLE AND RAG so I could clean the dirty high tops and table behind me because I felt bad for them and the place was disgusting. Then I asked for the WiFi code and they said " we don't have WiFi " I was so utterly annoyed that I had wasted so much time and when i realized I wasn't even going to be able to get work done I left without getting my food or coffee, went to tatte down the street ( not the closer one that one closed ) and had an excellent experience. TLDR: Expect dirty tables, slow services, and probably half decent food and coffee, but I didn't stick around to try what I ordered.

This restaurant is quite strange upon walking it it is like your average chain bakery restaurant…read morewith pies in the cases. The manager (possibly owner) was at the counter talking with an applicant. There was another girl trying to get tables set up for two other people that were waiting. Nobody acknowledges us for about 5 minutes. After the manager dealt with the applicant she took a phone call and walked away. Eventually she came back and sat us. When you walk into the restaurant you are in silk flower land. Over the arches hanging from the ceiling. It seems as though you are maybe entering a wedding event center. In between dining areas there are tiny disco balls hanging. Like I said strange. The waitress was really nice she answered all of my questions. Water and tea came in closer to a wine glass than a goblet. To start we ordered clam chowder soup. It was lacking flavor. It was thick and seemingly rich but it was missing something. The chicken Marsala was one of the 20 specials of the night. It was breaded chicken cutlets (2) over a bed of fettuccine and Marsala sauce. The chicken lacked and was probably frozen the sauce was tasty. I had chicken cordon bleu with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. The Cole slaw was ok. It was slightly soupy and not as much crunch as I like. The mashed potatoes seemed like box and the gravy seemed like jarred. Neither one had any substantial flavor. The cutlets were bland. Overall, the waitress was good. The rest left little to be desired. It seems that they are trying to be fancier than the diner they are.

I recently just had them do the front walkway on our house. Not only did Chris listen to all my…read moreconcerns and address every single one of them but he worked with me on the colors and stone types, design and assuaging just about everything I threw at him for questions and concerns. He and his team were very neat and orderly about their work and their daily cleanup and worked with us on where to keep things that were left there overnight. They were careful and proper in taking care of not just the DigSafe items but also my irrigation system which had the annoyance of being right under said walkway. The result is stunning. A great job, great people, and reasonable prices. I'm keeping them in my Rolodex for when we redo the pool deck or... the driveway. Thank you to Chris & his team for the great work and partnership in this project!

Chris did a wonderful job, even though he had to work with my demanding wife (hahaha). He would just smile and make the changes and adjustments without any hesitation whatsoever. His main goal, always, was to make us happy. The end result was absolutely beautiful, and we are extremely happy that we picked Chris and with the way our yard looks now. I would recommend Chris Hawkes to anyone that needs masonry work done.
